Dr. King Chop Suey is a Chinese restaurant located at 5435 Dr Martin Luther King Dr in St. Louis, Missouri. As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, Dr. King Chop Suey offers options for both dining in and taking food to go. Information regarding the specific environment and ambiance of Dr. King Chop Suey is not detailed in the provided reviews. Therefore, this introduction will primarily focus on the services offered and the features as described by recent customer experiences shared online, aiming to provide an objective perspective for potential local users.
Dr. King Chop Suey provides services including both dine-in and takeout. One customer mentioned placing a large online order, indicating that online ordering is also an available service. This suggests that customers have multiple avenues for accessing the food offered by the restaurant. However, this same customer also encountered issues with the online ordering system, specifically the lack of an option to remove ingredients from dishes. They reported calling the restaurant twice to request the removal of beansprouts from their order but were told a manager would need to return their call, which allegedly did not happen.
The feature of customization, or the lack thereof in the online ordering system, appears to be a point of concern. The inability to remove specific ingredients through the online platform led to dissatisfaction for at least one customer. This is a factor that potential users with dietary restrictions or preferences may want to consider when placing an order.
Another significant aspect highlighted in the reviews is the packaging of takeout orders. One customer described their order, which included items with "juice," arriving with open and leaking small containers due to heavier items being placed on top. This resulted in the liquids spilling into the bag, negatively impacting the overall quality and presentation of the food upon arrival. This suggests a potential issue with the restaurant's packaging methods for takeout orders.
Promotional information, specifically regarding free sodas for large orders, was also a point of contention for one customer. They mentioned signs in the restaurant stating that a free soda is provided for every $18 spent. However, despite spending $100 on an online order, they were reportedly told they were not eligible for any free sodas because their order was placed online. This discrepancy between in-store promotions and online order policies could be a point of confusion for customers and may affect their perception of value.
Customer service experiences at Dr. King Chop Suey, as reflected in the provided reviews, appear to be inconsistent. One customer who returned to the restaurant to address the issues with their order reported being told that there was nothing that could be done and that it was not the staff's fault, with the explanation being "we just bag it." This interaction suggests a lack of willingness or ability to resolve order-related problems to the customer's satisfaction. In contrast, a different reviewer mentioned that the person who took their call-in order at the counter was nice, indicating that some staff interactions can be positive.
The location of the restaurant was also mentioned by one reviewer, who noted that it is "not in a good part of town." This observation about the surrounding neighborhood might be a factor that some local users consider when deciding whether to visit the restaurant in person, especially during certain times of day. The same reviewer also noted the presence of an ATM inside the establishment and being asked about Cash App or similar payment methods upon entering.
This reviewer also shared their experience with a specific menu item, the dragon wings. They noted that an order contained four red-colored wings that tasted "okay" and mentioned that the menu listed other types of wings that might be worth trying. This provides some insight into the food quality of at least one dish, with a neutral assessment given.
Finally, the same reviewer recounted being asked for spare change by another person upon leaving the restaurant and noted that the first person they encountered asked everyone entering about Cash App or similar applications. These observations provide additional context about the environment and interactions that customers might experience at this location.
In conclusion, Dr. King Chop Suey is a Chinese restaurant in St. Louis, MO, offering dine-in and takeout services, including online ordering. However, recent customer reviews highlight potential issues with the online ordering system's lack of customization options, concerns about the packaging of takeout orders leading to leaks, discrepancies regarding in-store promotions for online orders, and reports of unhelpful customer service when addressing order problems. One reviewer also commented on the restaurant's location and some unusual interactions observed on the premises. While one food item, the dragon wings, received a neutral rating, the overall feedback suggests that potential customers may want to consider these experiences when deciding whether to patronize Dr. King Chop Suey. It is recommended that local users weigh these factors based on their own priorities and preferences when choosing a Chinese restaurant in the St. Louis area.

I will never patronize this place again!! I placed a large online order and they do not give you the option to remove ingredients, in my case beansprouts, from any of the items. I called TWICE to ask them to remove the beansprouts and both times I was told a manager would have to call me back to make the change 🤔. I have yet to receive a call back. Once I got my food, which included plenty of beansprouts, everything was just thrown in the bag. Small containers were open and leaking because heavier containers were placed on top of them. Pretty much all the "juice" that should have been in the containers was in the bag. Also, I spent $100 and was told I dont get any free sodas because my order was online even though there are signs that clearly state you get a free soda for every $18 you spend 🤔. When I took the food back I was told there was nothing they could do and that it wasnt their fault. Their exact words were "we just bag it" 🤔. I have spent so much money with them on multiple occasions and have even recommended them to others who have now become regular customers. They will never get another dime from me! There are plenty of other chinese cuisine restaurants in the STL area. Go where your dollar is valued and appreciated! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
This is not in a good part of town. There was a nice ATM inside. As soon as I walked in, I was asked if I had Cash App or some other app. I had called my order in. I ordered some dragon wings. It was surprising that there were 4 wings in the order. The wings were red. The tasted okay. They have some other types of wings on the menu that might be worth trying. As soon as I began leaving, another person asked me if I had some spare change. The 1st lady asked everyone who came in if they have one of those Apps. If someone chooses to try this place, I recommend calling and placing your order ahead of time.
I ordered the General Tso chicken combination plate. It was the nastiest crap I’ve tasted. I threw the entire tray in the trash! The sauce was watered down something. It had absolutely no taste. It turned my chicken soggy immediately! I feel violated from tasting it! This use to be one of my favorite places. They loss a customer today!!!
I got plain fried rice with bean sprouts. The rice lacked flavor, and was slightly greasy. The St.Paul was ok..it also needed more flavor. The worse of all was the lady getting high with her pipe in the corner. Please do not let people do drugs in your establishment. Felt uncomfortable and unsafe!
Recently, while wrapping up a photo shoot—my second gig of the day—I had the chance to sample the Dragon Wings from Aiden's carry-out spot. Opting for the mild version of his signature dish, I wasn't sure what to expect, especially since they ended up in my air fryer for a reheating session. Surprisingly, they emerged tasting as if they'd just been prepared—crispy on the outside, tender and bursting with flavor on the inside. My nine-year-old declared them the best wings she'd ever had, a high accolade from a discerning young palate! Aiden's place is strictly carry-out—no dining in, no seats, just great wings to go. So if you're in the mood for a wing fix that really hits the spot, this no-frills joint won't disappoint. Grab a box of Dragon Wings and prepare to be wowed.
