About Dough Zone Dumpling House
Located at 7625 170th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052, USA, **Dough Zone Dumpling House** is a popular destination for lovers of authentic Chinese dumplings and other traditional dim sum dishes. As part of a well-regarded regional chain, this Redmond location aims to provide a dedicated experience for patrons seeking a taste of carefully crafted Chinese cuisine. You can contact them at (425) 702-8888 or via mobile at +1 425-702-8888.
The **environment** at Dough Zone Dumpling House is consistently described as "clean and bright." This creates an inviting and pleasant atmosphere for diners, suitable for families, friends, and even solo diners. The focus is on a modern, comfortable setting that allows the food to be the central highlight. While specific details about the decor are not provided, the emphasis on cleanliness and brightness suggests a well-maintained and welcoming space that aligns with contemporary casual dining expectations.
The **services** at Dough Zone are primarily "table based," meaning customers are seated and served by waitstaff, a standard practice for many full-service restaurants. This allows for a more relaxed dining experience compared to fast-casual or counter-service establishments. However, recent customer reviews for this specific Redmond location highlight significant concerns regarding service quality. While some general descriptions of Dough Zone praise its attentive service, one detailed review from May 2025 indicated a "really bad service at this location." This particular experience cited multiple issues: wait staff were reportedly "inattentive," "NEVER looked at our table," "never cleaned the plates," and "ignored waving, questions, ask to bring boxes to go." The reviewer also mentioned having to "go chase them to ask something," despite being at "one of the closest table where they were."
A particularly contentious aspect of the service mentioned was related to **tipping**. The staff reportedly "demand tips" and hassled the customer to pay tips with a debit or credit card, as gift cards could not be used for tips. The customer, dissatisfied with the service, initially declined to leave a tip, but the server allegedly persisted in asking for payment, even inserting a minimal amount on the terminal. This interaction led to a highly negative customer experience, raising concerns about transparency and pressure regarding gratuities, especially when service quality is perceived as poor. This suggests a need for management at this specific location to "look into the shift that worked 5-6 pm on May 2" to address these reported service deficiencies and ensure a more positive customer experience.
The **features** of Dough Zone’s menu are centered around an extensive variety of Chinese dumplings and other popular dim sum items. While the provided reviews mention only a few specific dishes, they give an insight into the customer experience with these selections. The **pan-fried beef dumplings** were rated 3.5/5, and the **pork and shrimp dumplings** received a 3/5 rating. A unique observation was that the dumplings were "served very unattractively upside down," which, while perhaps a minor aesthetic point, speaks to presentation. Despite the mixed reviews on the dumplings themselves, the **pickled cabbage** stood out positively, earning a high rating of 4.5/5 and being described as the "best thing on the plate."
Beyond these specific mentions, Dough Zone is generally known for a broader range of offerings, including steamed dumplings (such as their famous Xiao Long Bao, or soup dumplings), potstickers, various noodle dishes, pancakes, and other small plates. The commitment to fresh, hand-made dumplings is a core tenet of the Dough Zone brand. However, the quality of individual dishes can vary, as indicated by the specific ratings for the beef and pork/shrimp dumplings and the positive highlight of the pickled cabbage.
Regarding **promotional information**, the strong brand recognition of Dough Zone as a chain is a significant draw, often promoting itself through its reputation for authentic dumplings. While no specific limited-time offers or loyalty programs are detailed in the provided information for this Redmond location, the consistent flow of customers (implied by the general popularity of the chain) suggests effective ongoing appeal. However, the recent negative feedback regarding service, particularly the tipping interaction, could potentially impact customer loyalty and word-of-mouth promotion for this specific branch. For local users in Redmond looking for a dumpling-focused Chinese restaurant, Dough Zone offers a clean and bright environment with a wide selection of dishes. However, potential patrons should be aware of the recent concerns regarding front-of-house service and consider their expectations regarding gratuity in light of these comments. It is advisable to evaluate recent reviews or visit during off-peak hours to potentially experience more consistent service.

Atmosphere is clean and bright. The service is nice because it is table based. However, they hassle you to pay unnecessarily. I ordered pan fried beef 3.5/5 and pork and shrimp 3/5 dumplings. They were served very unattractively upside down. Best thing on the plate is the pickled cabbage 4.5/5.
Really bad service at this location. We love Dough Zone, and it's our closest location, but we'll never come back. The management should look into the shift that worked 5-6 pm on May 2 as they do no care about customers and demand tips. When we came, there were 2-3 tables, including ours, and 4 wait staff. They NEVER looked at our table, never cleaned the plates (our table was covered in plates, zero space), they ignored waving, questions, ask to bring boxes to go, I had to go chase them to ask something, and we were one of the closest table where they were. They were the most inattentive wait staff I've seen in my life (I worked as a waitress in my youth, I can't imagine such ignore of the customers). We agreed with my partner that we won't leave tips. The bill was ~$48 and I paid with gift card of $50. The waiter who has been ignoring us or talking to us with sour face came with a pay terminal, used gift card and then said: "will you pay tips with debit or credit card?". Like this! I didn't understand, she said that tips can't be paid by gift card, so did I want to pay tips with credit or debit. I said that actually, we didn't plan to leave tips, because the service was horrible. Do you think she asked why? Apologized? She kept staying with paying machine asking me what card I'll pay tips with. I said I can maximum give 10%. She promptly inserted $0.01 on terminal, moved to tips page, gave to me and rushed away. I added $4 and still feel nauseous for doing this. Why did I give money to the abuser of a server? Servers in WA are paid at least minimum rate, same as cashiers, nannies at daycare etc. 20% tips are from the past (or some other states now) where wait stuff was paid $3-4 per hour and depended on tips. And even then, 20% are never mandatory, but for good service. The wait stuff that ignored us all evening and talked to us with sour faces, should not have an expectation of getting tips. Our Friday evening was ruined.
Pretty good food, at decent prices. Pretty busy, casual dining atmosphere with fast service, but nothing that left me overly wowed. The dumplings and pot stickers were good, but the spicy beef appetizer was too salty.
Dough Zone is a franchise, but they do a great job with the food. You get what you expect and it's delicious. Highly recommended. Service was good. The place can use some work. I think prices went up since last time I visited, 6 months ago.
Used to be a good place for economic and tasty dinner, but now the service turned bad. If you are coming with a party of friends, your meals will be served asynchronously with a substantial delay from each other (do they expect me to start eating in front of my friends who didn't get their meals yet?) and sometimes those delays are extremely long (we've been waiting for our qbao for almost an hour). Many times the servers might just ignore you, forget your order or be straight impolite. I know it's not an expensive fancy place, but it's not a reason to treat your customers like that. Hope it gets better.
