When local users seek a Chinese restaurant, they often consider factors such as the quality and taste of the food, the ambiance and cleanliness of the environment, the attentiveness and friendliness of the service, the variety and uniqueness of the menu offerings, the portion sizes, and the overall value for money. To provide an objective introduction to Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant, we will analyze recent customer reviews found online to understand these aspects based on user experiences.

Recent customer feedback for Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting several key aspects that contribute to a pleasant dining experience. One reviewer described the portions as "so generous" and commended the staff, including the server and everyone working there, for being "friendly and attentive." They specifically praised the "General Tso chicken and chicken with broccoli" as being "perfect," along with the "spring rolls with dipping sauce." This positive experience led them to express a desire to try the desserts on a return visit, noting the "cozy, clean and relaxing place." This reviewer concluded by stating their intention to return and their excitement to explore other dishes on the menu, indicating a highly satisfactory first visit.

Another reviewer, who dined with a group of four, also shared a positive experience. They noted that the restaurant was full, suggesting its popularity, and appreciated having a reservation. The interior was described as having a "nice Asian vibe," with a mention of a separate room featuring low tables, indicating a potentially varied seating environment to suit different preferences. Their waitress, Jalyn, was specifically commended for being "very nice and quite professional."

The menu was noted for having a "good variety of dishes to choose from." As a welcoming gesture, Jalyn brought each person a small plate of edamame and pickled carrots/cucumbers as a starter, which was appreciated by the reviewer. For appetizers, the reviewer and their husband ordered the "shrimp with Chinese chives pot stickers" (quantity of six), which came with a dipping sauce (likely soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, etc.) and a hot chili sauce, and were described as "excellent!!" Their friends ordered the spring rolls, which they also "really enjoyed," corroborating the positive feedback from the other reviewer.

For the main courses, the reviewer had the "firecracker chicken" with brown rice, which included celery, carrots, baby corn, straw mushroom, and water chestnuts in a Sichuan red chili pepper sauce. The chicken pieces were noted as being breaded and stir-fried. The reviewer's husband ordered the "Sichuan eggplant dish" with brown rice, which contained onions and scallions. He added pork to his dish but felt that there was "very little of it." He also mentioned that the dish was "not spicy at all," which might be relevant for those with specific spice level preferences. Their friends ordered the General Tso's chicken and one of the pork dishes. Importantly, the reviewer highlighted that the entrée portions for all four dishes were "huge!" resulting in leftovers for everyone.

Overall, this reviewer concluded that Double Happiness is "a very good place for Chinese food" and expressed their intention to return to try the dim sum and other items on the menu, further reinforcing the positive impression of the restaurant.

Based on these two recent and detailed reviews, Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant appears to offer a positive dining experience characterized by generous portions, delicious and well-prepared food (particularly the General Tso's chicken, chicken with broccoli, spring rolls, and shrimp pot stickers), friendly and attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere with a "nice Asian vibe." The menu offers a good variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and potentially dim sum. The complimentary edamame and pickled vegetables are a nice touch that enhances the dining experience.

While one reviewer noted that the Sichuan eggplant dish lacked spiciness and had minimal added pork, this seems to be an isolated comment within an otherwise glowing set of feedback. It's possible that spice levels can be adjusted upon request, and the amount of added protein might vary. However, the consistent praise for other dishes and the overall experience suggests that these might not be widespread issues.

The reviews highlight a "cozy, clean and relaxing place" with a "nice Asian vibe" and a separate room with low tables, indicating that the environment is conducive to a comfortable dining experience. The attentive and professional service, particularly from the waitress Jalyn, also contributes significantly to customer satisfaction.

The generous portion sizes mentioned in both reviews suggest good value for money, as customers are likely to leave feeling satisfied and may even have leftovers to take home.

The provided reviews do not contain any information about current promotions, discounts, or special offers that Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant might be running. Local users interested in such information would need to inquire directly with the restaurant via phone or by checking their online presence if available (e.g., website, social media).

In conclusion, Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant in Wilmington, NC, appears to be a highly recommended local option for Chinese cuisine. Customers have consistently praised the delicious food, generous portions, friendly and attentive service, and the pleasant, clean atmosphere. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, including popular choices like General Tso's chicken and well-regarded appetizers such as spring rolls and shrimp pot stickers. The restaurant seems to be popular, as indicated by it being full on a weekend evening, suggesting that reservations might be advisable. Local users looking for a satisfying Chinese dining experience in Wilmington would likely find Double Happiness to be a worthwhile choice, and the positive feedback encourages a return visit to explore more of their menu.

The portions were so generous. Our server and everyone working here were friendly and attentive. The General Tso chicken and chicken with broccoli were perfect, as were the spring rolls with dipping sauce. We wanted to try the desserts, but had no room. A cozy, clean and relaxing place. We had such a lovely first visit here, we will return. Excited to try the other dishes!

Four of us dined here last night (25 January 2025). I ate here once before for lunch, but never wrote a review. I don't even remember what I had. The place was full, but we had reservations. The interior had a nice Asian vibe. There's a separate room with low tables. Jalyn was our waitress. She was very nice and quite professional at her job. The menu has a good variety of dishes to choose from. Jalyn brought us each a small plate of edamame and picked carrots/cucumbers. That was a nice start to our meal. My husband and I ordered the shrimp with Chinese chives pot stickers (quantity of six), which came with a dipping sauce (probably soy sauce rice vinegar, sesame oil, etc) and a hot chili sauce. They were excellent!! My friends ordered the spring rolls, which they really enjoyed. For my entrée, I had the firecracker chicken along with brown rice. This came with celery, carrots, baby corn, straw mushroom and water chestnuts in a Sichuan red chili pepper sauce. The chicken pieces were breaded and stir-fried. My husband had the Sichuan eggplant dish, (with brown rice) which included onions and scallions. He added pork, but felt there was very little of it in the dish. He also stated it was not spicy at all. Our friends had the General Tso's chicken and one of the pork dishes. The entrée portions for all four dishes were huge! We had leftovers. Overall a very good place for Chinese food. We'll be back. I want to try some of the dim sum and other items on the menu.

Double happiness is a Wilmington classic for a reason. A beautiful atmosphere great food as well as good service Weare. Highlights of my lunch here. The Wok Chicken. (With no jalapeños.) is pictured below and was very good. The spring roll and it’s accompanying dipping sauce was also very good.

The Mongolian beef cost more than pf changs and is not nearly as good. So much onions and little bit of beef. The spring rolls were good. The lettuce wraps were horrible with burnt taste. Overall, I was disappointed with the cost and food. Order of Mongolian beef and two appetizers was 41 dollars. There is way better food for a lot less else where.

Service was good, staff were kind, food portions were smaller for the price, not really like a traditional Chinese restaurant where portions are “family style” portions. My biggest double disappointment was the Crispy Duck. $33 was the market price and it was dry, burnt, and basically freezer burnt. My kids ate it anyway since they were hungry but it was not worth the price and they should take it off of the menu. Just don’t offer it if it’s not quality.
