TLDR; never disappoints. Good quality is consistent and had lots of really good vegetarian options too. We came in for a late lunch and put ourselves on a waitlist enroute - highly recommend this because it saved us 30 minutes of waiting at the restaurant. Between the two of us we ordered the pork dumplings, spicy vegan wontons, garlic green beans and the chocolate buns. Everything was exceptionally good, as it always it. The spicy wontons are my all time favorite, but the chocolate buns come a close second. The filling inside both is really really flavourful. Service here is always warm too. The waiters are very conversational and alert. There was a shift change while we were eating, and even our new waiter took the time to introduce himself and make sure that transition was smooth. It sounds like such a small thing but it really goes to show how much attention they pay to the service.
We've been coming here for years and absolutely love this place. It's been great to watch it evolve over time, but one thing that hasn't changed is the consistently excellent food. The service is outstanding. In all the years we've visited, they've only made one mistake—bringing us the wrong dessert dumplings—and they more than made up for it. Not only did they promptly replace it with the correct order, but they also removed it from the bill. That level of care goes a long way. The atmosphere is clean and minimalist, though it can get a bit loud at times. Restrooms are well-maintained, especially considering how busy the place gets. Some of our favorite items: iced black tea with sea salt foam, fried rice, spicy wontons, braised beef noodle soup, cucumber appetizer, truffle soup dumplings, green beans, bok choy, and the chocolate mochi dumplings with sea salt cream on the side. Honestly, we could name even more—this place is absolutely worth the hype.
Had an awesome meal at Din Tai Fung in Southcenter Mall! The cucumber salad was super refreshing – crisp with just the right amount of garlic and vinegar. The honey lemonade was light, sweet, and super refreshing, perfect to balance out the savory dishes. Loved the mushroom and vegetable fried rice – flavorful, perfectly cooked, and not too oily. The vegetable dumplings were a highlight too – delicate, tasty, and packed with fresh veggies. Great service and cozy vibe as always. Definitely a solid spot for a satisfying meal!
The spicy pork dumplings are great with a hint of something sweet in it. My favorite was the truffle and pork dumpling. It pops in your mouth. Probably one of the best dumplings I can recall having. It's a bit spendy for the size it is. The string beans in garlic were surprisingly simple and tender. Their another recommendation. Shanghai rice cakes are recommended if you're trying to fill up for a more reasonable price. The rice cakes are small, chewy and they're a couple meats to choose from. The rest of the menu items were very tasty, but these are the ones that stood out.
I was not too impressed with the food, or the prices reason for 3 stars. 5 stars for our waiter Michael, he was very welcoming and friendly, suggested menu items, and always checked in on us. We ordered 3 items that were suggested. The signature little pork soup dumplings were good, steamed pork buns were tasteless and not very good, and The Wok noodles with chicken was mediocre. For a mall location the prices are pretty steep compared to going to an outside the mall restaurant. The atmosphere, and friendly staff was probably the best out of it all. I suggest other outside Dim Sum places over this restaurant.
