About Din Tai Fung

Located within the Del Amo Mall at 21540 Hawthorne Blvd #519, Din Tai Fung is a Chinese restaurant renowned for its dumplings and other dishes. As a prominent establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, it offers a dining experience centered around flavorful small plates and expertly crafted dumplings.

Customer reviews highlight the high quality and deliciousness of the food. One reviewer mentioned that their party chose a perfect variety of marvelous dishes. While acknowledging that Din Tai Fung is pricey, they also emphasized the high quality of the food received. Another customer raved about the flavor of each dish, from the buns to the side dishes and, of course, the dumplings.

A notable feature of Din Tai Fung is its open prep space, visible from the entrance, where the dumplings are handmade. This transparency is appreciated by customers, with one noting that the care in preparation comes through in the taste. The restaurant is described as having a large staff and being well-managed, contributing to efficient service even when it gets very busy.

However, some customers have pointed out potential drawbacks. One reviewer disliked the wait and the chaotic atmosphere while trying to be seated. They also mentioned that the seating arrangement felt crowded, with tables very close to each other. Another customer, while admitting the food was worth a try and they didn't regret going, stated they probably wouldn't return due to the higher prices compared to the cheaper and more varied options available in Chinatown.

Beyond the famous dumplings, such as those described as "melting in your mouth," Din Tai Fung also offers other enjoyable dishes. The cabbage dish is mentioned as simple yet yummy, and the chocolate dumplings are highlighted as a sweet and unique way to conclude a memorable meal.

In summary, Din Tai Fung in Torrance offers high-quality, flavorful Chinese cuisine, particularly its renowned handmade dumplings. The service is generally efficient, although the restaurant can get very busy, potentially leading to waits and a crowded environment. While the prices are higher than some alternatives, the quality of the food is a significant draw for many. If you're looking for a well-regarded dumpling spot and are prepared for a potentially bustling atmosphere and higher price point, Din Tai Fung might be worth a visit. I can say that we chose almost a perfect variety of dishes for the party. Each one was marvelous.okay they are pricey, no doubt, but you are also getting some high quality food. I didn't like the wait and the chaotic vibe of trying to be seated.once seated, we were inches from the people beside us. From the buns, to the side dishes and dumplings. Each dish was packed with flavor. Would I go back and pay those prices? Probably not since Chinatown has cheaper and more variety of selection. Worth a try though. I don't regret going.

The legendary dumpling spot located in the Del Amo Mall.. they have all sorts of fun small plates, and various dumplings including the ones that melt in your mouth. They are hand made in an open prep space you can see from the entrance and that comes through when you taste them. The place has tons of staff and is well managed. They get super busy but the service is efficient and everything runs well. The cabbage dish is simple and yummy.. and the chocolate dumplings are a sweet and unique way to finish a memorable dining experience.

I’ve always loved Din Tai Fung, but after this experience, I’m seriously reconsidering going back. I ordered online and picked up my food, and honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. I got two pork chop fried rice dishes, and they looked like leftovers. It seemed like there was only about two-thirds of the portion I used to get. As for the Hot & Sour Soup, it was a huge disappointment. It didn’t taste anything like the version I used to enjoy; it was totally off.

Amazing dumplings. I've had great dumplings and potstickers in New York, Montreal, and other places, but these really are the first class best I've had. Highly recommend especially the pork potstickers. The desert chocolate and see salt dumplings are also definitely highly recommended!

Would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. The ribs were amazing appetizer. And the bok choy too. But our favorite would be the wontons. We liked it so much we ordered a second one. I would not recommend to get the Shao Mai, it lacks flavor. Xiao Long Bao was okay. Maybe a shrimp one would be better. I personally didnt like their recommended way to eat the XLB with the ginger dip. I didnt like that it was Balsamic Vinegar. Soy sauce with Ginger would be enough for me as a dip. Fried Rice and Noodles are good too. The chocolate bun with the cream was really good to top everything off.
