While categorized as a Chinese restaurant, Dimdoduc focuses primarily on these small, flavorful dishes, offering a wide selection that caters to both dine-in customers and those looking to enjoy these treats at home. The restaurant has garnered attention for its tasty offerings, reasonable prices, and convenient location.
Based on customer reviews, the environment at Dimdoduc is described as a "hole in the wall," suggesting a more casual and perhaps unassuming setting. Despite this characterization, the positive feedback indicates that the quality of the food and service more than compensates for any perceived lack of elaborate ambiance. For those prioritizing delicious food and value, Dimdoduc appears to be a worthwhile destination. Its proximity to multiple parks and playgrounds in the neighborhood also makes it a convenient stop for families and individuals enjoying the local recreational areas.
The services at Dimdoduc are consistently praised for their efficiency and friendliness. Customers have noted the "quick" and "great" service, indicating that the staff is attentive and prompt in attending to diners' needs. This is particularly beneficial for those looking for a quick bite or a convenient takeaway option. The unique feature of offering both freshly made dim sum for immediate consumption and frozen options for purchase highlights a commitment to catering to various customer preferences and needs.
As for its features, Dimdoduc's primary draw is its extensive selection of freshly made dim sum. The emphasis on preparing these bite-sized delicacies on-premise suggests a commitment to freshness and quality. The availability of frozen dim sum for purchase is a significant advantage for customers who wish to enjoy Dimdoduc's offerings at their convenience at home. This dual offering sets Dimdoduc apart and provides added value to its clientele.
Several specific dim sum items have been highlighted in customer reviews, offering a glimpse into the restaurant's popular dishes. The "Red Bean Roll" received positive feedback for its fluffy white bread and smooth, lightly sweet red bean paste filling. This classic dim sum item appears to be well-executed at Dimdoduc, providing a satisfying combination of textures and flavors.
Another interesting offering is the "Fresh Taro Dumpling," which one reviewer noted as a dim sum item not commonly found in Hawaii, indicating a potentially unique offering within the local San Francisco dim sum scene. While the concept and the soft, chopped taro pieces were appreciated, the reviewer suggested that the sauce lacked a strong flavor to elevate the dish to an outstanding level. This provides an honest perspective on a specific item, suggesting that while innovative, there might be room for improvement in certain aspects of the menu.
The "Pineapple Custard Bun" stands out as a particularly well-received item. Customers have praised the soft bread, the thick, crispy, and flaky topping, and the creamy custard filling. The reviewer specifically noted that the topping was thicker than what they typically encounter, suggesting a unique and enjoyable variation of this popular dim sum treat. This positive feedback highlights Dimdoduc's ability to excel in preparing both traditional and perhaps slightly modified dim sum classics.
Overall, the customer reviews suggest that Dimdoduc offers tasty dim sum at a great price, making it an affordable option for those craving these Cantonese delicacies. Tasty dim sums for a great price. Freshly made dim sums on premise and frozen ones available for purchase as well. Service was great too. It’s a hole in the wall that is worth visiting. While we ate in the restaurant, we bought more to take home when we left. Definitely will go back for more.
Quick, cheap, and good snacks in the neighborhood within walking distance of multiple parks and playgrounds. Service is quick and friendly. The Red Bean Roll (not pictured) was yummy. The white bread part was fluffy and a light sweet flavor and the red bean paste inside was smooth. The Fresh Taro Dumpling is dim sum not offered in Hawaii so I wanted to try it out. I love the concept and the chopped up taro pieces were soft, but the sauce didn’t have much flavor to make it outstanding. The Pineapple Custard Bun was delicious! The bread was soft. I enjoyed the thick, crispy and flakey topping and creamy custard on the inside. The pineapple buns I normally eat have a thinner topping so this was a nice change. Worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for something quick to eat!
A friendly welcoming dim sum shop. Fresh and frozen items. Fresh clean tasting dim sum. Excellent chicken feet: tender, rich flavor and just a hint of sweetness. Dine in tables separatee from the counter. A wide variety of dim sum. Hot and cold drinks available. A definite go to place for your next craving for dim sum.
I enjoy going to this place whenever I'm around the Balboa Theater area for a quick and delicious bite to eat! We also took some of the foods home for dinner and they still tasted good after reheating them in our bamboo steamer. We had them with the house chili oil that they sell in jars. They have all the dim sum favorites and dumplings and buns that are frozen too. I like the chiu chow dumplings, which you don't see in a lot of places. The interior seating is like many other "bakery" dim sum places which have seats for convenience, but are nothing fancy. These kinds of places are really meant for take or quick eat at the tables. I'm happy to contribute to this business that continues to offer more things, such as the frozen foods and packaged condiments. The staff are friendly and efficient.
Went there to purchase a Bao Pao with custard and coconut, and a sesame ball. All super delicious, so I purchased two bags of Bao Pao bags: custard and BBQ pork. Superfriendly employee let us taste and gave advice.
