Dim Sum Sam Intro
Dim Sum Sam, located at 28 E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010, is a Chinese restaurant specializing in quick and standard dim sum. This establishment offers a casual dining experience with a focus on fast service and self-service options.
Customer reviews highlight several dishes. The minced beef rice noodle rolls are described as satisfactory, with soft and elastic rolls. The roast duck puffs are particularly praised for their succulent roasted duck filling and flaky pastry. However, the soup dumplings received mixed reviews, with some finding the skin rubbery and the meat filling tough.
Dim Sum Sam is noted for its counter service, where customers place their orders and then collect their own utensils and sauces from a self-serve sauce bar. Seating is limited, and the layout can be described as somewhat confusing. The egg tarts and other dim sum options are generally well-received. The roast duck is a popular item, although some customers note it may not be the best they’ve had.
Overall, Dim Sum Sam is recommended for those seeking a quick and standard dim sum meal in New York City.

Me and my chums were stopped by for lunch. I ordered the minced beef rice noodle roll, roast duck puffs, and soup dumplings. The rice noodle roll was satisfactory as the rolls were soft and elastic. The duck puffs were the best! Succulent pieces of roasted duck wrapper in the flakiest pastry! And the soup dumplings were mid, the skin was kinda rubbery so it pops very easily and the meat filling was a bit tough. Overall, this is a great spot for quick and standard dimsum! It should be noted that you order at the counter and seating is limited. You also get your own utensils and sauces from the sauce bar.
Went here for the duck and did not disappoint, but not the best I’ve had. Seating is confusing and not a lot of space. Egg tarts are amazing, so is the dim sum. Would recommend.
If you want old duck with bones and skin without meat that’s the place for you. If you want old char siu that’s the right place for you. Don’t be deceived by the ratings food I was served was absolutely not value for money. I live in Malaysia where all those small shops with roasted meat all over the corner with much better taste. Update 23/12/24 In reply shop promised to refund money. I contacted them via email left. They asked for credit cards details, on 15/12/24 i left my bank account for detail, didnt receive any money yet and no update from them.
I went here on my last day in NYC, and the meals did not disappoint! As someone from HK, the broth and ingredients were very authentic and reminded me a lot of the food I grew up eating. Both my partner got BBQ pork dishes, and were so amazed at the aromatics and tenderness of the pork! The portion size was also a plus! I will for sure come again!
Food was delicious and the service was great. I will definitely return here and try the other dim sum I didn't try. I had a BBQ Pork dumpling, scallion pancake and a iced coffee milk tea.
