About Dim Sum Kitchen
Welcome to Dim Sum Kitchen, a quintessential Cantonese bakery and restaurant located at 2520 San Bruno Ave in the heart of San Francisco, CA 94134, USA. As a prominent establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, Dim Sum Kitchen has garnered a reputation among local users for serving restaurant-quality dim sum with a focus on authentic flavors and affordability. Whether you're a long-time enthusiast of Cantonese cuisine or looking to explore the delightful world of dim sum, Dim Sum Kitchen offers a convenient and satisfying experience.
Dim Sum Kitchen operates primarily as a takeout establishment, allowing customers to enjoy their favorite dim sum dishes in the comfort of their own homes or on the go. While the focus is on takeout, the quality of the food remains a top priority, ensuring that each bite is filled with the traditional tastes of Cantonese cooking. You can easily place your order by calling them at (415) 467-7945 or their mobile number +1 415-467-7945.
Based on feedback from real customers, Dim Sum Kitchen excels in several key areas. Their Har gao (shrimp dumplings) and Shiu mai (pork dumplings) are consistently praised for getting the taste just right. Customers appreciate that these classic dim sum staples are served warm and ready for immediate enjoyment, yet the skins retain a pleasant chewy texture, a hallmark of expertly made dumplings. The menu also features a variety of other fried dumplings, including shrimp and chive, and tarot, which have also received excellent reviews, indicating a mastery of different dim sum preparations.
While most of the offerings receive high marks, one customer recommendation suggests that the Char siu bao (BBQ pork buns) could benefit from a more generous meat filling. This provides an honest glimpse into the customer experience, highlighting areas where the restaurant could potentially enhance their already well-received menu.
For those looking for a heartier option, Dim Sum Kitchen offers a Shrimp Dumpling Soup. While described as decent by one reviewer, it might not be the standout dish compared to their other dim sum offerings. The soup features shrimp dumplings served in a brown broth with bok choy, providing a comforting and light meal option.
One of the most frequently mentioned advantages of Dim Sum Kitchen is its affordability. Customers consistently highlight the excellent value for money, noting that the dim sum dishes are of good quality and priced very reasonably. This makes Dim Sum Kitchen an attractive option for individuals and families looking for a delicious yet budget-friendly meal.
In addition to the individual dim sum items, Dim Sum Kitchen offers a lunch combo that is described as generously portioned and economically priced. This makes it an ideal choice for a satisfying and affordable midday meal for those working or living in the neighborhood.
A particular highlight mentioned by a loyal customer is their "favorite salty fried bread," which is available at a very good price. This suggests that Dim Sum Kitchen also offers unique and well-loved items beyond the standard dim sum fare, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences.
Regarding the environment, Dim Sum Kitchen appears to be primarily a takeout establishment, focusing on efficient service and quality food preparation rather than an elaborate dine-in setting. This makes it a convenient option for those who prefer to enjoy their meals elsewhere.
In terms of practical considerations, customers have noted that parking can be challenging, especially during busy weekends and weekdays. The available parking is limited to street parking, so it is advisable to factor in potential time for finding a parking spot, particularly during peak hours. One helpful tip from a regular customer is to go early, as the restaurant opens at 8 am in the morning, potentially offering a less crowded experience and better parking availability.
Overall, Dim Sum Kitchen is highly regarded as a neighborhood gem for authentic and affordable Cantonese dim sum takeout in San Francisco. Its consistently praised dishes, particularly the Har gao, Shiu mai, and various fried dumplings, along with its excellent pricing, make it a popular choice among locals. Despite potential parking challenges during busy times, the quality and value offered by Dim Sum Kitchen ensure that it remains a favored spot for those seeking a taste of genuine Cantonese flavors. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, consider following the advice of a satisfied patron and pay a visit to Dim Sum Kitchen to experience their delicious offerings firsthand.

Customer Reviews
Restaurant-quality dim sum served at this quintessential Cantonese bakery on San Bruno. Har gao (shrimp dumpling) and shiu mai (pork dumpling), gets the taste right — served warm and ready to go, but skins still chewy. Various fried dumplings (shrimp and chive, tarot), excellent as well. Only recommendation is for char siu bao (bbq pork buns) to come with more meat filling. Shrimp Dumpling Soup, served in brown broth and with bok choy, decent but not life changing. An excellent, and affordable, dim sum option on the south side of San Francisco. Lunch combo, generously portioned and economically-priced.
This neighborhood dim sum takeout is a gem. They have my favorite salty fried bread at a very good price! Dim sum dishes are so good quality at a very good price. Parking can be challenging during busy weekends and weekdays. One can only find street parking. Go early. I believe they open at 8am in the morning. Whenever I am in the neighborhood, will patron it.
THE neighbor gem for authentic basic dim sum and perfect lunch quick stop. The flavors were on point, home-y and simply filling. Our server recommended cod fillet tofu clay pot - a hearty fave. Piping hot tofu silk on the inside and crispy on the outside. Fish was pillowy and flavorful. Only shrimp dumplings and pork siu mai left at 4pm for dim sum, but both hit the spot. Friendly service 😀 will return
This spot is one of the go to spots on San Bruno ave. The prices are good and they give you some hefty plates. Beyond the price the food is just good. I usually go for the dim sum but on occasion will do a combo plate. If you’re in n the area looking for a cheap good meal pull up!
A new addition to Tanforan Mall in San Bruno. Very fresh and tasty dim sum. The fried rice can be improved. It’s a bit dry and bland. The sesame balls are crispy and not too sweet. This new place deserves all our support during this Covid time. Just put in your order and relax to give the kitchen the time to get your food right.
