About Davis Well Season

Davis Well Season is a Chinese restaurant located at 1753 Research Park Dr in Davis, California, specifically specializing in Hong Kong style cuisine. This establishment offers a dining experience that aims to bring the flavors of Hong Kong to the local community. As a Chinese restaurant in Davis, Davis Well Season provides an option for those seeking this particular style of Chinese food, known for its diverse influences and unique dishes.

Based on the limited customer feedback available online, the experience at Davis Well Season appears to be somewhat varied. One reviewer identified the restaurant as a "Hong Kong style Chinese Restaurant," which sets a specific expectation for the type of dishes offered. Hong Kong style cuisine is characterized by a blend of Cantonese roots with influences from British colonial history and other international flavors, often featuring dishes like roast meats, congee, noodles, and a variety of stir-fries.

However, the same reviewer offered a specific recommendation against trying the Dim Sum at Davis Well Season. Dim Sum is a crucial aspect of Hong Kong cuisine, consisting of a variety of small, savory and sweet dishes, typically served steamed, fried, or baked. The negative feedback regarding the Dim Sum suggests that this might not be a strong suit of the restaurant, and potential customers specifically seeking high-quality Dim Sum may want to consider this feedback.

On the other hand, this reviewer did note that the price at Davis Well Season is "very inexpensive." This could be a significant draw for budget-conscious diners looking for an affordable meal. However, the reviewer also expressed a preference for improved food quality, even if it meant a price increase. This highlights a potential trade-off between cost and quality that some customers may perceive at this establishment.

Interestingly, the reviewer mentioned being open to trying the dinner menu at Davis Well Season again in the future before forming a final negative opinion ("bad list it"). This suggests that the dinner offerings might differ in quality or style from the Dim Sum, leaving room for a potentially more positive experience with other parts of the menu.

Another customer provided a contrasting view regarding the food, stating, "The food here was awesome." This positive feedback indicates that some diners have had a very satisfying culinary experience at Davis Well Season. This discrepancy in opinions highlights the subjective nature of taste and the possibility of variability in dish quality or preparation.

The same positive review also commented on the ambiance of the restaurant, noting that "the decoration was beautiful and the atmosphere is very Chinese original." This suggests that Davis Well Season has made an effort to create an authentic and visually appealing environment that reflects traditional Chinese aesthetics. For customers who value the dining atmosphere, this could be a significant positive aspect of the restaurant.

However, this positive reviewer also recounted a negative experience with the service. The issue arose when the customers asked for extra to-go boxes for their leftover food. The reviewer described the server as "so clingy" and reported that their request for an additional box was denied, with the server suggesting they "just push the food on top of each other to make enough room." The reviewer expressed feeling "very disrespected" by this interaction. This incident raises concerns about the customer service practices at Davis Well Season, particularly regarding accommodating reasonable requests.

The conflicting reviews make it challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of Davis Well Season. While the restaurant offers inexpensive prices and, according to one account, an awesome food experience and a beautiful, original Chinese atmosphere, there are also concerns about the quality of the Dim Sum and instances of poor customer service. Potential customers will need to weigh these factors based on their priorities.

Given the lack of specific menu information or details about other services such as takeout or delivery in the provided reviews, local users interested in Davis Well Season may want to contact the restaurant directly at (530) 750-1802 or +1 530-750-1802 to inquire about their menu, hours of operation, and any available services. Asking about their specialties beyond Dim Sum and their policies regarding takeout containers might also be beneficial.

In conclusion, Davis Well Season presents itself as a Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant in Davis with inexpensive pricing and a reportedly authentic Chinese atmosphere. However, customer reviews offer mixed feedback regarding the food quality, particularly the Dim Sum, and raise concerns about the service in at least one instance. While some customers have found the food to be "awesome," others have suggested a need for improvement in quality. Potential diners should consider these varying perspectives and perhaps try the dinner menu, as suggested by one reviewer, to form their own opinion. Contacting the restaurant directly for more information about their offerings and services is recommended before making a decision.

Hong Kong style Chinese Restaurant. Not recommended for anyone to have Dim Sum here. Price is very inexpensive but I would rather they improve the food quality and increase the price. I might try the dinner one more time later before I bad list it.

The food here was awesome. The decoration was beautiful and the atmosphere is very Chinese original but the server is so clingy we ask for some boxes for to go for the leftover food that we cannot finish and they bring out two boxes and then it end up not enough room for the leftover so we decided to ask can we have one more box for the food. And the server came up and denied to give us boxes and say that we should just push the food on top of each other to make enough room and I say no I don’t want my food to get messy so she open the to go box that she gave us earlier And say there’s more room so just push it in and I feel very disrespected

Decent dim sum experience, as most of the traditional dim sum dishes tasted authentic and not too greasy. Pan-fried noodles and fried rice are also pretty good, but the service can be spotty if they get busy. Beware they charge a service fee for tea. Large parking lot so easy to find a spot if you get there early.

I really enjoy eating here it is one of my favorite dim sum places here in Davis without having to go to the Bay area to get this kind of quality food. I don't know if it was because our whole party was not at the table or what but we were sitting there for quite a while even after everyone arrived before we received any kind of service. I did notice that there were only three people working on the floor at the time so maybe that was the reason for the initial slow service. After they had taken our order though the cooks back there were cranking out that food. I have no idea how they cooked everything so fast but all of our kept coming out one dish after another. The good is excellent from the duck to the roast pork and the fried calamari. All the food was delicious my kids especially enjoyed the bao. The mango pudding was really good and the law mai gai fan is very tasty I was surprised it had no egg or nuts in which is was really great because I usually don't care for those things in it. Overall great dim sum and Chinese food. Kids also really enjoyed the live aquariums of the fish and lobster there, nothing like checking out the live food before you eat it. Side note the little one thought the lobster was a giant shrimp.

Greatly enjoyed the dim sum here. Not a wide variety of options but the items they serve, are done well. Not too oily, and actually one of the best I've had in the area. Everything tastes really good. They have very authentic Chinese dishes and am excited to come back to try dinner.
