About David's Mai Lai Wah

For local users in Singapore interested in Chinese Restaurants, David's Mai Lai Wah is located at 1001 Race St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, USA. Based on recent online reviews, it's important to note that this establishment has received significant negative feedback regarding several aspects of its operation.

Multiple customers have reported issues with food quality. One review described the coconut shrimp as cold and soggy with flavorless sauce. Another customer did not comment on specific dishes but implied dissatisfaction with the overall quality relative to the price.

Customer service appears to be a major area of concern. One customer recounted waiting for five minutes while staff counted tips after being told their order was ready for pickup. Another detailed experience of being treated rudely and arrogantly when requesting an itemized bill, with staff allegedly threatening to refuse service. This reviewer also mentioned difficulty reaching the restaurant by phone.

Pricing and transparency have also been criticized. One review explicitly accused the establishment of price gouging and noted that online prices do not match the menu prices in person. The inability to obtain an itemized list of expenses was also highlighted as a negative practice.

Furthermore, it appears that the dining hall at David's Mai Lai Wah has remained closed since the pandemic. Customers attempting to place phone orders have reported difficulty getting through, despite the restaurant apparently having two phone lines with only one posted online, which may also have outdated menu prices. In-person interactions have reportedly included being chastised by staff for phone line issues.

Overall, the recent online feedback for David's Mai Lai Wah in Philadelphia suggests significant issues with food quality, customer service, pricing transparency, and operational practices. Potential customers in its local area should be aware of these reported experiences.

Ordered from here because it was 2am and the only thing open near me. I got the coconut shrimp and it was horrible. First the shrimp was cold and soggy. The coconut sauce that was on half the shrimp had no flavor to it. On top of the food being horrible they called me to tell me my order was ready and when I got there to pick it up I had to wait five minutes while the lady counted her tips. Overpriced and customer service sucks.

This establishment is basic at best. They are price gouging and down right rude and unapologetically arrogant. When a customer request a itemized list of the expenses, you are told that you can't have one and if you continue to ask they push back (bully) by saying that they will not take your order. The prices online do not at all match the prices in menu. The wait times outrageously long...even if you place a small order. You call to place an order over the phone and can't get through. Then you arrive in person just to be chastised by the staff, as if they don't already know their phone lines are always busy and they have two lines apparently yet only one is posted online with dare I say outdated menu prices. They have completely chosen to not open the dining hall since the pandemic. Please BEWARE when you choose to patronize this business. Kindness will carry you everywhere. This business should be humble and not take advantage of those that they truly depend on, that allows their business to thrive and continue to operate. "David's Mai Lai Wah" please do better. Stop treating your customers like you have the best restaurant in Chinatown.

My favorite place to grab a meal whenever I am in Philadelphia. Unfussy old school Cantonese and Chinese American style dishes. The dumpling/wonton soups are a must and great for a cold winter's day (don't forget to put white pepper on the soup). The salt and pepper chicken wings are to die for. Crispy, slightly spicy and salt.

What happen with. David's? Went Saturday night and there was a long line outside. I was told NO eating in and take out has to be called in and you wait outside in line? Ok. Did that next. My husband and I waited an hour! Mean while you play chicken with your car because there is NO parking. Got our salt and pepper shrimp 🍤 and they didn't look as big or nice and they tasted dry and over cooked. This was our favorite spot. Always delicious. What happened? Not worth the time or money. Good bye!!!

The first bite had a shell in it, the lobster fried rice, no lobster. Salt and pepper shrimp was the worst, the shell was still on most of the shrimp, salt and pepper wing were so hard and tough… no thanks David’s, would not recommend
