About David's Kitchen
David's Kitchen, located at 45 W 3300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84115, USA, is a restaurant that has been a favorite for some for a long time. While categorized as a Chinese Restaurant on the platform, it offers a range of dishes that have garnered varied feedback from recent customers.
One reviewer shared a positive lunch experience, highlighting the delicious and freshly made food. They specifically praised the won ton soup with ample shrimp and vegetables, and described the walnut shrimp as exceptional. The restaurant also accommodated a request to add asparagus to the Mongolian beef, which was appreciated for adding a sophisticated flavor. This customer also noted fast and friendly service and a nice atmosphere.
However, another reviewer had a less favorable experience. They mentioned super small tables and expressed disappointment with the egg foo young, stating that it seemed to lack egg and had a hard, flour-like texture. This reviewer found the pot stickers and crab ragoon to be the only good items. They also reported receiving unfriendly service from the waitress.
The environment seems to have a "nice atmosphere" according to one review, while another focused on the small table size. The service experience also appears to be inconsistent, with one customer describing it as fast and friendly, and another reporting receiving dirty looks.

My brother took me here for lunch. Now I know why this has been his favorite restaurant for 30 years. Delicious food. Everything is freshly made, and there was shrimp and ample veggies in the won ton soup. The walnut shrimp was to die for. They added asparagus into our Mongolian beef, per request, which added a sophisticated flavor profile. Fast, friendly service. Nice atmosphere.
Super small tables. The egg foo young has no egg. It tasted like flour foo young because it was rock hard. The only thing that was good were the pot stickers and crab ragoon. Waitress kept giving us dirty looks like we were stupid.
The menu is outdated and seriously lacking. There are two options, lunch specials or if you get there too late for that, la carte. When asked why the entrees don't come with the standard soup, fried rice, etc. We were told that it is family style dining and all à la carte so everything would have to be ordered separately. The food itself was just okay at best about the equivalent of what you would find at a buffet. The The lack of lighting in the restaurant is to mask how many tables are in that small space. Walking in, the theme is Oriental, but it has a worn out 1980's feel. If you're in the neighborhood already it's an okay place to stop, but definitely not worth the drive to try it out.
We decided to try David’s Kitchen after so many recommendations from friends, and the food did not disappoint. The potstickers were as good as we were told, and the Sweet and Sour Chicken and Cashew Chicken were delectable, although there wasn’t very much chicken in the Cashew Chicken dish. The service wasn’t too great, and we had to sit for nearly 15 minutes with empty plates to get our check, and never got refills on our drinks. UPDATE 2023: We ate at David’s Kitchen again on a Saturday evening right when they opened, and unlike the previous visit, the service was fantastic. The food was wonderful as always, especially the potstickers.
The food was great. I went on a Saturday night. Was seated pretty fast. Ordered fast but waited 40 minutes for our food. My husband would go more often, and this was the first time he had waited that long, so it could just be a tonight and not every night thing. I will go back.
