Darien Hunan Kitchen

While this is an Asian fusion restaurant that covers staples from several countries I have to say I had some excellent sushi there last night. I ordered the yellowtail jalapeno appetizer and had toro and raw scallop sashimi which they torched and smoked. It was all excellent. They also offered an omakase menu which I will be sure to try next time. Very impressed and wasn’t expecting it to be this good. Fish was incredibly fresh and well prepared and seasoned. Will be going back - a lot!

Absolutely delicious! I have been on a hunt for amazing authentic Chinese food and finally found it. Reminds me of the childhood fried rice I used to eat. Sesame chicken was delicious and made with white meat. Dumplings were great!

The food here I can't even describe it! Please try the Emperor sushi roll. The staff was really nice and warm.

It is quality food for Hunan style, which in my limited experience is known for its bland qualities. There was no "PAO" in my Kung Pao Shrimp and even the rice was tasteless. But she had a tofu soup with vegetables that we both ate ourselves full on. The service lacked. It seemed that it was turn over all the tables and scrub beneath day, which left no one to help us. Not one person asked us, at any point if we needed anything (which we did but we just gave up) so we ate, paid, and left. We are super tippers, so 5% was a slap in the face for us, but we did it.

My family loves Chinese and Japanese food. We were exited to see this restaurant in town. The reviews were rough but turns out the food was delicious, the service was good, and we are going to go back again! My guess would be the negative reviews have to be fake. We had a full meal with drink, appetizers, and dinner in 45 minutes despite one of the reviews saying they got their water after one hour. Highly recommend.
