About Darda Express
Welcome to Darda Express, a Chinese restaurant located at 1211 S Mary Ave in Sunnyvale, California. As part of the Chinese restaurant category, Darda Express aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the local community. It is noted by one reviewer as being related to the "original restaurant" in Milpitas, suggesting a potential connection in terms of menu or culinary style. However, recent customer feedback for this Sunnyvale location raises significant concerns regarding food safety and the consistency of food quality compared to the perceived original establishment.
Due to the severely negative nature of the recent customer reviews, it is challenging to provide a positive or detailed description of the environment at Darda Express in Sunnyvale. One review expresses "disappointment and disgust" without commenting on the physical premises, focusing instead on a critical food safety issue. The lack of positive comments about the ambiance suggests that the focus of the recent feedback is overwhelmingly on the negative aspects of the dining experience, specifically related to the food itself. Potential customers may need to visit the location to form their own assessment of the environment, keeping in mind the serious concerns raised by other patrons.
The services offered by Darda Express likely include both takeout and dine-in options, as is typical for many Chinese restaurants. The provision of a phone number, (408) 733-7386 and +1 408-733-7386, indicates a means for customers to place orders or make inquiries. One reviewer mentioned ordering chicken chow mein, implying the availability of takeout. However, the overwhelmingly negative experiences detailed in the reviews overshadow any potential discussion of service quality or efficiency. The primary focus of the feedback is on significant issues related to food safety and preparation.
Based on the recent customer reviews, a significant and alarming feature reported at Darda Express in Sunnyvale is a severe lapse in food safety. One customer recounted finding a cockroach in their chicken chow mein, an incident they described as "completely unacceptable" and one that raises "serious concerns about the restaurant’s hygiene and food safety standards." This is a critical issue that potential customers should be aware of, as it directly impacts the safety and edibility of the food served. The reviewer's immediate loss of appetite and the necessity to discard the entire meal underscore the severity of this finding.
Another reviewer, who expressed excitement at trying this location due to positive experiences at what they believe to be the original Darda Express in Milpitas, reported inconsistencies in food quality. While they found the "combo fried rice" to be "great," they described the "chow mein" as "very blend" and the "Mongolian beef" as having a "strange sour taste." This indicates a potential lack of consistency in food preparation and quality control at the Sunnyvale location compared to the perceived original restaurant. The reviewer also noted that the food was "definitely not on par" with their expectations and expressed hope for improvement. They did highlight that "Halal Chinese is a great option," suggesting that Darda Express may offer halal choices, which could be a feature for some customers.
Promotional information for Darda Express in Sunnyvale is not mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Given the serious nature of the negative feedback, any potential promotions would likely be secondary to addressing the critical concerns raised about food safety and quality. Customers interested in any special offers or discounts should contact the restaurant directly, although it would be prudent to also consider the recent reviews before deciding to patronize this establishment.
The recent customer reviews for Darda Express in Sunnyvale paint a concerning picture. The report of finding a cockroach in the food is a severe food safety violation that should not be taken lightly. This incident alone warrants significant caution for potential customers and underscores the urgent need for management to address hygiene and food preparation standards. The inconsistency in food quality, with one reviewer finding the combo fried rice great but other dishes lacking, further suggests potential issues with kitchen operations and quality control at this location.
Local users who are familiar with the Darda Express in Milpitas and are considering visiting the Sunnyvale location should be aware that the experiences may differ significantly, based on the feedback provided. The expectation of similar quality might not be met, and the serious food safety concern reported is a critical factor to consider. While the mention of halal options might be a draw for some, the fundamental issues of hygiene and food quality need to be addressed to ensure a safe and satisfactory dining experience.
Given the gravity of the reported issues, local residents may want to avoid Darda Express in Sunnyvale until there is clear evidence of significant improvements in their food safety and quality control measures. It would be advisable to look for updated reviews or official statements from the restaurant addressing these concerns before considering a visit. The health and safety of consumers should be the top priority when choosing a place to eat.
In conclusion, recent customer reviews for Darda Express in Sunnyvale, CA, raise serious concerns regarding food safety, specifically the reported finding of a cockroach in a dish. Additionally, there are reports of inconsistent food quality compared to a perceived original location. Potential customers should be aware of these significant issues and exercise caution when considering dining at Darda Express in Sunnyvale until substantial improvements and positive feedback indicate a safe and satisfactory dining environment.

Disappointed and Disgusted I ordered chicken chow mein from Darda Express, and to my horror, I found a cockroach in my food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the restaurant’s hygiene and food safety standards. I immediately lost my appetite and had to throw everything away. I strongly urge the management to address this issue and improve their cleanliness.
I was very excited to try Darda express since we usually frequent to the one at Milpitas which is the original restaurant. The combo fried rice was great but the chow mein was very blend and Mongolian beef has strange sour taste. The food definitely not on par and hope they get better. Halal Chinese is great option
Darda Express did a fine job with orange chicken (tender and sweet/spicy), Mongolian Beef (a bit different style than other places but still found it good), mixed vegetables (appropriately crisp and not overcooked), pot stickers, and egg rolls. It is a very good neighborhood Szechuan Chinese Restaurant. They also allow you to bring your own containers for take out that they fill with your food so you can be zero waste like I am. Plastic single use disposables are terrible for our environment.
It’s a nice low-key place to get tasty Chinese/Taiwanese food. We ordered the beef soup noodle, Kung pao chicken, and fried springrolls. The quantity was generous but my partner and I ate it. The broth was flavorful without being salty. I wish the noodles were more chewy and thicker texture. Everything was made to order and fresh. The spring rolls came with 4 to an order and were crispy and fresh hot. What can be better than fresh fried spring rolls.
I took out Darda’s famous chili chicken. It was horrible. Nothing compare to Milpitas Darda. It was full of chilli and barely any chicken. Chicken was not crispy at all. See pic how much chilli left after eating the chicken.
