About Dalian Restaurant

Welcome to Dalian Restaurant, a Chinese eatery situated at 1674 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, California. This restaurant appears to offer a range of Chinese dishes, with at least one customer highlighting a positive lunch experience. For local users in Berkeley and the surrounding areas, Dalian Restaurant presents itself as a potential option for those seeking Chinese cuisine, particularly for lunch.

Based on the limited reviews available, the environment of Dalian Restaurant receives mixed feedback. One customer, who happened to pass by and decided to try it for lunch, did not explicitly comment on the ambiance, suggesting it was perhaps not a primary focus of their experience or was satisfactory enough not to warrant specific mention. However, another reviewer noted "inappropriate music (Soft rock)" as a negative aspect of their visit, which they found to be a "turn off." This suggests that the choice of music might not align with the expectations or preferences of some diners and could detract from the overall dining atmosphere. Therefore, potential customers who are sensitive to the background music in a restaurant might want to consider this feedback.

In terms of services, Dalian Restaurant offers dine-in options, as indicated by the customer who ate lunch there. They also seem to provide lunch combos, which, in at least one instance, included the main dish (dry sautéed string beans with tofu), along with salad and rice. This suggests that Dalian Restaurant offers value-oriented options, particularly during lunchtime. The mention of a "waitress with plastic gloves" by one reviewer is an unusual observation and could potentially be off-putting to some customers, though the reason for this practice is not explained in the review. It might relate to hygiene practices or specific food handling procedures, but without further context, it remains an ambiguous aspect of their service.

A key feature of Dalian Restaurant is the taste and quality of its food. One customer who ordered the dry sautéed string beans with tofu found the "flavor was great." This positive feedback on the taste of at least one of their dishes suggests that the kitchen is capable of producing flavorful meals. The same reviewer also noted that the "portions are just right," indicating a satisfactory quantity of food for the price or as part of the lunch combo. This balance of flavor and portion size can be an important factor for diners.

However, another reviewer's experience with the food was more nuanced. They described the food as "tasty" overall, which is a positive initial assessment. However, they had an issue with the spice level of a soup they ordered, stating that the "Medium spicy’ soup was more spicy than medium." This indicates a potential inconsistency in the preparation or labeling of spice levels, which could be problematic for customers with specific preferences or tolerances for spicy food. It suggests that diners might need to exercise caution or seek clarification when ordering dishes with indicated spice levels.

The limited number of reviews makes it challenging to identify other prominent features of Dalian Restaurant or to get a comprehensive understanding of their menu. The mention of a lunch combo with dry sautéed string beans with tofu suggests that they offer a variety of vegetable and tofu dishes, catering to different dietary preferences. However, more information would be needed to fully assess the breadth and specialties of their menu.

Regarding promotional information, neither of the provided reviews mentions any specific deals, discounts, or special offers available at Dalian Restaurant. Local users interested in finding out about any promotions, such as lunch specials beyond the mentioned combo, daily deals, or family meal options, would need to contact the restaurant directly at (510) 883-1883 or mobile at +1 510-883-1883. Inquiring about their menu and any current promotions could help in making a more informed decision about dining there.

In conclusion, Dalian Restaurant in Berkeley offers Chinese cuisine with at least one positively reviewed dish, the dry sautéed string beans with tofu lunch combo, which was noted for its great flavor and appropriate portion size. However, potential customers should be aware of mixed feedback regarding the ambiance, specifically the choice of music, and a somewhat unusual observation about a waitress wearing plastic gloves. Additionally, there seems to be a potential issue with the consistency of spice levels in their dishes, as one reviewer found a "medium spicy" soup to be spicier than expected. Given the limited information, local users might find it beneficial to try Dalian Restaurant for themselves, perhaps starting with the lunch combo or inquiring about spice levels when ordering other dishes. Contacting the restaurant directly for more information about their menu and any current promotions is also recommended.

Happened to pass by this while walking around; so glad I discovered it! I plan to go back soon! I went there for lunch; ordered the dry sautéed string beans with tofu as a lunch combo so it included salad and rice. The flavor was great and the portions are just right.

Tasty food - inappropriate music (Soft rock) waitress with plastic gloves was a turn off. “Medium spicy” soup was more spicy than medium

How can anybody not enjoy handpulled noodles? I ordered the spicy garlic pork noodles--the pork wasvery tender cooked in the spicy brown sauce to perfection. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the tea was definitely a nice touch. Would definitely come back again!

We came here as a party of 4 for lunch. We appreciated that the restaurant checks for proof of vaccination. We each got one of the handmade noodle soups and they were great! Our server was friendly and overall it was a good experience.

I tried the Zhajiang hand pull noodles and preserved vegetables Lamb hand pull oodles. I would definitely recommend the Lamb noodles. The Zhajiang noodles were a bit disappointing it didn't have enough soybean paste and the pork were not chopped thin enough.
