Dakshin Indian Bistro

Dakshin has delicious food that is always served fresh and hot. I enjoy everything that I order here. The atmosphere inside the restaurant could be improved but the food is great. The only concern with this past particular visit is that the waitress said she did not have change. My friend and I were both paying in cash. Thankfully my friend had enough change for the transactions to work out.

My son and I enjoyed our first Indian food experience, and it was truly amazing. Entering the restaurant, unsure of what to order, we described our preferences and spice tolerance to our server. The dishes he recommended were perfect, a truly delightful meal for both of us. I attached below the meal I ordered it also came with some bread.

The Methi lunch Thalia was bigger than I expected. Flavors were fresh, not full of just cream. The mixed vegetables and channa that come with it were very good. The garlic Naan was fresh, better than most places. The lamb biriyani had plenty of meat in the dish. Both dishes were great.

FLAVORLESS CURRY. The curry is liquidy, looks like soup more than curry. Tastes like water, but worse. The garlic naan also did not taste like garlic, texture just some weird dough rather than naan. Seriously, I don't think whoever cooks this dish is Indian or know what they are doing with Indian food at all. I've never had such bad "Indian" in my entire life, unrecognizable dishes. They add some complimentary side dish and naan but everything just taste bland and non-flavor. We haven't eaten all day and this still tastes bad, did not finish half of it.

****EDIT!!… I recently went back because the mixed vegetables noodles are just the best you’ll find locally, I’ve went to several other Indian cuisine restaurants and they aren’t as good as Dakshin. I seen my usually lady there this last time and she is so sweet🥰 her customer service is amazing!!! I wish I would’ve got her name but she’s usually always there! I hope she knows she’s appreciated and the reason I’ll continue to go even with past experiences with the other ladies there. It pains me to write this review because I’ve been going to this restaurant several times since I moved from FL but the main lady I always see hasn’t been there recently so the customer service has been M.I.A with her. I frequent Dakshin at least twice a week sometimes once but with the usual lady I never had any problems at all. This will be my last time visiting the restaurant unfortunately the owner charged me a $1.30 service fee for cash and that has never happened to me before. The price is $12.99 and usually comes up to $13.96 with tax (Instead of the $14.20 I paid today) I usually tip at least $2-$5 every time because I love this place that much, however I asked the owner if she has change for a $20 because the last time I came here I paid $15 and the younger cashier lady gave me nothing back, she didn’t even give me the option to tip she just kept the money so I asked the owner. “Do you guys have change for a $20” I guess she figured I wouldn’t tip or something so she went ahead and added a service fee of $1.30 which I’ve never had before when paying with cash.
