Curry Club at SaGhar

A few years ago, before this restaurant moved, it was one of, if not my favorite restaurants on the Island, and by all accounts my favorite Indian restaurant on the Island. Since moving, they've only managed to improve the quality and variety of dishes on offer from all regions of India, and have an adept and knowledgeable staff capable of guiding towards something new if you don't often eat Indian cuisine. Carolynn and Nick ensured that our dining experience was great, and the food was as good as ever, if not better. There's nothing on the menu not worth trying, so this definitely won't be our last time here. Definitely ask for a Mango Lassi, you won't regret it.

On the positive side - we were seated promptly, liked the decor, staff was friendly and Lamb jhalfrezi was tasty. On the negative side - Keema (ground beef) in the dosa was too chunky and lacked flavor, chili chicken was more like Panda Express or some fast food twist on sweet and sour chicken, butter chicken and kadai chicken were so so. Over-priced fare with mediocre taste at best. One of our only lower than average experience in the area.

Food was amazing and the view of the bay at sundown is perfect. The place can use a good deep cleaning. Dusty windowsill and an overall dingy dining room but the food was sooo good!!!!

After recovering from a cold and wanting to get out of the house, DH and I decided to take a stroll at Port Jefferson near the water.We stopped for some light evening snacks here and chose a window seat, which was quite pleasant. However, the experience quickly went downhill. We were greeted with fried wafers that were soft and soggy. The chicken sweet corn soup arrived warm ( not hot) and had no taste whatsoever . The assorted vegetable platter seemed to have been fried multiple times, and the chili chicken was not good either. Additionally, their plates, serveware, and flatware were in bad shape. It was a real disappointment compared to my previous visit.

We have been going to Curry Club since their previous location in Setauket, and even through the pandemic, we ordered take-out from there to enjoy at home. They have been consistently delicious, service is great, and the owner/host Kulwant is always so gracious. They have been inventive through the years with their menu, and all dishes we’ve tried are yummy. Their dosas are amazing and we’re so happy we can get them out here in Suffolk without having to drive to Nassau County. We’ve come with many friends and family over the years, and everyone has equally enjoyed their meals here. My spouse is Indian, and he and his family more than approve of this restaurant, which says quite a bit. We dined there last night, mid-week in the middle of this arctic blast of weather we’ve been having, and it was the perfect food to warm us up.
