This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed overview of what Cumin India Restaurant truly offers.

Environment: The restaurant features a dimly-lit atmosphere, creating a cozy and intimate dining space. It offers comfortable seating arrangements suitable for both small and large groups. While the location itself in Hamden is described as nothing particularly special, the interior aims for a certain ambiance, with yellow napkins providing a touch of color to the darker decor.

Services: Customers have noted the quick and attentive service provided by the staff. They are described as being super attentive, ensuring water glasses are consistently filled. Cumin India Restaurant caters to various dietary needs, offering numerous vegetarian choices and demonstrating a general awareness of food allergies. While their buffet is currently not in service and is used for packing takeout orders and leftovers, they do offer takeout services for those who prefer to enjoy their meals at home.

Features: Cumin India Restaurant serves a wide array of classic Indian dishes, including a variety of naan breads that are reported to be hot and fresh. Based on customer reviews, some standout dishes include the delicious malai kofta and madras chicken, as well as the chili garlic naan. Customers also appreciated the complimentary dal tadka. It's worth noting that some dishes, like the tandoori platter and chicken corn soup, have received less favorable reviews. For dessert, the gulab jamuns are considered good, while the mango kulfi has been inconsistent in freshness.

Promotional Information: While specific ongoing promotions are not mentioned in the provided information, the restaurant seems to focus on providing generous portions of flavorful Indian food. The complimentary dal tadka mentioned in a review suggests they may offer occasional specials or complimentary items to enhance the dining experience. Customers are encouraged to inquire directly with the restaurant about any current promotions or special offers when making a reservation or placing an order.

In conclusion, despite the platform categorization, Cumin India Restaurant in Hamden offers a genuine Indian dining experience with a diverse menu, attentive service, and a comfortable atmosphere. The place has a nice dimly-lit look, and the service was quick. Good seating for both small and large groups. The food was hit or miss. The tandoori platter and chicken corn soup were disappointing, but the malai kofta and madras chicken were delicious. The chili garlic naan was good too. They gave us complimentary dal tadka, which was a nice touch—and it tasted great. For dessert, the gulab jamuns were good, but the mango kulfi was old and icy, not fresh. Overall, it’s a decent spot, and I’d go back, but you might need to try a few different dishes to find what you like.

This is the type of food you would expect from a good Indian food restaurant. You have typical common dishes, lots of vegetarian choices, general awareness to food allergies, etc. The staff was super attentive, kept our waters filled the whole time, and food was fresh. There were lots of Naan bread flavors, food was hot and fresh when appropriate. Their buffet is no longer in service and serves as a packing station which is used for take out and leftovers. The location in Hamden is nothing special. The yellow napkins added color to an otherwise dark restaurant motif. I'd easily order takeout or come back here again when in the area. Come here for the yummy food and leave with a full belly.

If I could call this, the worst culinary experience of my life ever, I would. First and foremost, we were asked to pay for the order even before it arrived stating that it was their closing time — no hospitality or restaurant business has the right to ask for pre payment. Secondly, the manager or the person in charge was straight away disrespectful right from the start to the end. He shoved the food on the table, didn’t even bother to bring them one by one- they brought all the food together and dumped it on the table. Coming to the food, horrible is the word. I would never personally call food horrible but this was the most obnoxious food experience. They just dumped all foods from India on the menu, they do not know what goes in recipe, their menu says something and they bring something else on your table. The meat in the biryani ( which wasn’t biryani but a curry mixed with rice and spice powder) was straight up RAW, uncooked hard meat. The tandoori chicken was nothing “tandoor” but boiled chicken dumped on a bed of vegetables. The Mirch ka salan was nothing to do with Mirch but potatoes in a bland paste like gravy. All in all, would never bother to eat here again or eat Indian food outside after this episode of bad experience. If you do not want to waste your time, your money and spoil your tastebuds and mood- do not visit this restaurant and do not be fooled by their reviews. Nobody at the restaurant is gonna bother about your review anyway, so this is for people who check reviews before trying out a place- DO NOT GO HERE! Save your money and time and go somewhere else!

My family of 6 really enjoyed our meal here tonight. The service and food were impeccable. We are glad we chose this place to stop by amongst the many around. It's hard to get food and service like this anywhere at all. You won't be disappointed. And we definitely plan to go out of our way to come here again. They deserve the shoutout.
