About Crystal Garden

Welcome to Crystal Garden, a Chinese restaurant located at 4711 Hiawatha Ave in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Situated within the Chinese restaurant category, Crystal Garden aims to offer a diverse dining experience to the local community. Based on customer feedback, this establishment presents a mix of culinary offerings, extending beyond traditional Chinese cuisine to include dishes like Pad Thai and featuring unique desserts.

According to one customer review, Crystal Garden boasts a "nice and warm atmosphere." This suggests that the restaurant strives to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for its patrons who choose to dine in. The reviewer also noted that the establishment is "veteran friendly," indicating a potential connection with the local veteran community, which could be a significant aspect of its local appeal. However, no further details about the decor or seating arrangements are provided in the available information.

Crystal Garden offers services primarily for dine-in and takeout. One customer mentioned stopping by for dinner after visiting the VA in Minneapolis, indicating that the restaurant is accessible for those in the surrounding area. Another review explicitly mentions ordering for takeout. To inquire about the possibility of delivery services, whether through Crystal Garden directly or via third-party delivery platforms available in the Minneapolis area, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly at (612) 722-9358 or +1 612-722-9358.

Customer reviews highlight a range of experiences with the food at Crystal Garden. One reviewer found their Pad Thai and Lo Mein dish to be "superb," indicating that the restaurant offers well-received dishes that extend beyond standard Chinese fare. Additionally, this customer praised the cakes as "uniquely delicious and not overly sweet," suggesting that Crystal Garden might have a noteworthy selection of desserts that differentiate it from typical Chinese restaurants.

In contrast, another customer reported a significantly negative experience with their takeout order. This review detailed several issues, including receiving egg rolls instead of shrimp toast, a lack of flavor in the egg rolls, cashew chicken served without cashews and described as tasting "burnt" or like "old cooking oil," receiving beef lo mein instead of pork lo mein (which was also flavorless), and orange chicken that also had a "burnt flavor." This feedback raises serious concerns about order accuracy and the quality of some of the dishes, particularly the potential use of old cooking oil or a burnt taste affecting multiple items.

The starkly contrasting reviews suggest a potential inconsistency in the quality and preparation of food at Crystal Garden. While one customer had a very positive experience, highlighting the deliciousness of the Pad Thai, Lo Mein, and cakes, along with a pleasant atmosphere, another customer's experience was overwhelmingly negative, citing issues with order accuracy and significant flaws in the taste and preparation of multiple dishes.

The mention of "Pad Thai" as being "superb" is a notable feature, as it indicates that Crystal Garden's menu includes Thai cuisine in addition to Chinese dishes. This could be a draw for customers looking for a broader range of Asian flavors. The uniquely delicious and not overly sweet cakes also stand out as a potential feature that could appeal to those seeking distinctive desserts.

However, the recurring complaint of a "burnt flavor" and the description of the cashew chicken tasting like "old cooking oil" are significant concerns that potential customers should be aware of. The inaccuracies in the takeout order, such as receiving the wrong type of rolls and the wrong kind of lo mein, also point to potential issues with order fulfillment and attention to detail.

No specific promotional information was provided in the available reviews. Local users interested in Crystal Garden may want to inquire directly about any daily specials, lunch or dinner deals, or other promotions that might be available. Checking local online platforms or contacting the restaurant directly could provide information on any current offers.

In conclusion, Crystal Garden in Minneapolis presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While one customer praised the superb Pad Thai and Lo Mein, the uniquely delicious cakes, and the warm, veteran-friendly atmosphere, another reported significant issues with their takeout order, including inaccuracies and poor food quality described as burnt or tasting of old cooking oil. Potential customers should consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to patronize Crystal Garden. If you are in the area, particularly near the VA in Minneapolis, you might consider trying it based on the positive review, especially for the Pad Thai and cakes, but be mindful of the issues raised in the negative feedback. For any information on current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

I was at the VA in Minneapolis and stopped by Crystal Garden for dinner. Glad I did. The Pad Thai & Lo Mein dish I got was superb! Their cakes were uniquely delicious and not overly sweet like the ones you’d find at a typical store. The place has a nice and warm atmosphere and were veteran friendly as well. If you’re hungry and around the area, I highly recommend you stop by and give this little hidden gem a try!

It was really bad. Won’t order from them again. Ordered for takeout. I ordered shrimp toast, got egg rolls instead and they were flavorless. Ordered cashew chicken, no cashews. Also it tasted “burnt” or like old cooking oil. Ordered pork lo mein, received beef lo mein. Flavorless. Ordered orange chicken- also had that burnt flavor.

Great, delicious food overload! The Boat noodle was very good, the Kao piak was super flavorful and the fried rice was savory as can be. They are under new management, so things are still being adjusted like their menu. They still carry many of the popular old dishes that we loved and enjoyed but the new dishes added to the menu is worth the try and to die for. Tummy is full and happy! Overall, 10/10! Boat noodle was my favorite yum!

I ordered food for delivery. I spent $50 and totally disappointed. Cream cheese wontons had no cream cheese. Egg rolls are okay, not everything else is a no for me.
