About Crustacean Restaurant Beverly Hills, CA - Brunch, Lunch & Fine Dining

Located in a good area of Beverly Hills, Crustacean Restaurant offers brunch, lunch, and fine dining experiences. While the platform category is Chinese Restaurant, the menu appears to feature a broader range of Asian-inspired dishes, including some that are traditionally found in Chinese cuisine.

The restaurant is noted for its fancy ambiance and location, making it a potential spot for special occasions. However, some customers have commented that the interior decor, specifically mentioning plastic flowers, gives a cheap impression that contrasts with the restaurant's high prices, which are compared to those of the most expensive establishments.

The food itself has received mixed reviews. While some dishes like the eggplant and crab are considered tasty, others, such as the snacks and their "exclusive" noodles, were described as ordinary. Dishes like dim sum, orange chicken, garlic noodles with crab, and tuna cigars were generally reported as good but not mind-blowing, with the sentiment that similar quality could be found at significantly lower prices elsewhere. The drinks were noted as fun and interesting, with an element of showmanship that might appeal to social media sharing.

In terms of service, one reviewer mentioned that while the overall service was mostly on point, they experienced a 15-minute period of being ignored after being seated, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Another customer reported that their cocktail was forgotten by the waiter. On the positive side, cleanliness and the speed of clearing tables were noted.

The noise level from the music above one table was also a point of concern, as a request to lower the volume was reportedly ignored.

In summary, Crustacean Restaurant in Beverly Hills offers a sophisticated setting and a menu of various dishes. While some items are well-received, the high prices relative to the perceived quality and occasional service issues are points to consider for potential diners.

good location of the restaurant. the interior is not beautiful, plastic flowers make your restaurant look cheap and your prices are like in the most expensive restaurant. the snacks were ordinary tasty. the noodles which are considered exclusive were also ordinary. we liked the eggplant and the crab was also tasty. but the price is very expensive. the volume was also normal we were cleaned quickly everything was clean but the waiter forgot to bring my cocktail. this is a good place but it is too expensive. The music above our table was playing very loudly. We asked to turn it down and were ignored.

Fancy ambiance and location, and a good place to celebrate something, but be ready to pay up. We got some dim sum, the orange chicken, the garlic noodles and crab, as well as the tuna cigars. Everything was good, but not mind-blowing and you can definitely find as good for much cheaper. Drinks were fun and interesting. A lot of it was clearly for the show and social media Service was mostly on point, but we were sat down and promptly ignored for 15 minutes even though there weren't that many other parties

Everything we ordered was, unfortunately, mediocre. Nothing tasted amazing—or even particularly good. It was just okay. The “caviar” they use on the tuna cigars is actually tobiko (flying fish roe), typically found in lower-end seafood spots—not real caviar. The tuna cigar itself had a strange taste and wasn’t delicious at all. The service was okay, though two of our dishes were mistakenly delivered to the table next to ours. To make up for it, they did bring us a small complimentary side, which was a nice gesture. While the presentation was nice and the place gives the impression of being upscale, the abundance of fake flowers cheapens the overall vibe.

We are here from the 1990s, 2000s. The food is cooked by Miss Ans at the time. We are here today. The foods we order 6 items, especially the crap out of shell, the taste is like a regular chinese seafood restaurant, all the fry rice is so salty and oily. We are very disappointed it. The food is not cooked by her anymore. I don't recommend spending your $$$ here. You can try it and give me the truth comments afterward.

Gone downhill. Crustacean BH has been a staple of our family for years. My late grandmother celebrated her 80th birthday there and we love to go with friends, clients etc. We could always count on their excellent food & service. I've noticed blips and slip ups since the pandemic but nothing like the disaster of our Christmas Eve family dinner. Made a 7:45p reservation for their special holiday Christmas Eve dinner. Upon arrival, made us wait 20 minutes for our table. My MIL is 82. Not cool. What was point of the reservation? It took the server 15 minutes to take just the drinks and appetizers orders. So more waiting. We ordered: A mocktail (they were out of the lychee cloud that I wanted. How?) Cocktails: Passionately in love U-be mine Starters: Caviar & langostine rolls Shrimp dumplings Wild mushroom wontons Tuna cigars (added later) Mains: 2 orders of crab 2 orders of garlic noodles 1 spinach Dessert: Lychee sorbet Warm beignets Service was a DISASTER. First the server did not KNOW which drinks were what. I cannot drink alcohol. I had to ask twice if he gave me the mocktail. After thinking, he finally confirmed. Then he proceeded to smoke the entire table and hand the WRONG drink to my son who informed the server, nice smoke, but I ordered the U-be Mine. Again server looked confused. Said ok you can keep this drink. No one wanted it because no one ordered it. SMH. Then he gave the last cocktail (again called it by the wrong name) to my other son. Two of the starters arrived but not the langostine rolls. We ordered/added tuna cigars as we were still hungry. That arrived within 5 minutes, still no langostine. A busser comes and starts clearing and changing plates. I tell him, WHERE is our caviar & langostine appetizer? He says let me check. The main dishes arrive, we're happy as we were hungry and service was so poor at this point. Busser clears table again, drops silver on my arm with food. No biggie, it was an accident. Thank you for my dry cleaning expense on my new jacket. Finally the langostine appetizer arrives. We were told our original order went to another table. Great. Honest mistake but why did it take until AFTER the dinner to arrive. It's a starter for a reason. We order dessert. As we're waiting they are clearing the table NEXT TO US and they drop silverware which clangs to the floor and noodles fly up into my hair. My husband and I laugh at this point. We're like wow the bussers are really dropping everything tonight. Again, we say nothing. We are having our family holiday dinner and didn't want to make the evening about these crazy mishaps but really Crustacean? We have dessert, it's delicious. Then the bill arrives. It has the wrong drink in there. Why? My husband and I are trying not to get upset. It's Christmas. We tell the waiter. He profusely apologizes and tells us he's removing the langostine appetizer. Ok fine. Is this acceptable? The bill with tip was over $750. Cost was not an issue, we like this restaurant, but do you think Crustacean should have made this right? Many high end places would have said, we comp'd your drinks or dessert for all the mishaps. We did not make a big deal in the moment. I have serious reservations about returning when the vibe now feels like "Vegas marketing" and not a high level, quality dining experience. Overall the food was still delicious, hence the 2 stars & we tried hard not to dwell on the many little mistakes. But unfortunately many little mistakes ruin an evening to be honest. Once, twice you can let go but 3,4,5 mistakes is downright sloppy & unacceptable. This is a service issue. I hate to say this but I think I would be reluctant return or recommend this place anymore. There are so many amazing restaurants that can rival the mediocre experience we received. And for the holidays too. Very sad at the decline. Think twice before booking here or know what to expect before you go.
