About Crouching Tiger Restaurant & Bar

Crouching Tiger Restaurant & Bar, located at 2640 & 2644 Broadway in Redwood City, California, offers a Chinese dining experience suitable for local users. As a Chinese Restaurant, it provides a space for enjoying various Chinese dishes.

Based on customer reviews, Crouching Tiger appears to be a good choice for large group gatherings. The restaurant boasts spacious tables that can comfortably accommodate family-style dining. Customers have consistently praised the service, describing the staff as friendly and attentive, with particular mention of their diligence in keeping water glasses filled.

Regarding the environment, the interior is described as clean but basic, with two notable cute tiger statues located outside the premises.

However, feedback on the food has been mixed. While some dishes have decent elements, others have received criticism. For instance, the Vegetarian Manchurian was noted to have a decent sauce, but the Manchurian itself was soggy. The egg fried rice with BBQ pork was described as having undercooked rice and bland BBQ pork lacking expected smoky sweetness. The hot iron plate style chicken, despite its potential, was also criticized for making the crispy rice underneath soggy quickly.

Overall, Crouching Tiger Restaurant & Bar seems to excel in providing a welcoming and spacious environment for large groups, complemented by friendly and attentive service. However, some customers suggest that the food quality can be inconsistent, with recommendations to consider simpler dishes and potentially avoid sizzling plate options. Some reviewers felt the food was average and not particularly outstanding compared to other Chinese restaurants.

Crouching Tiger in Redwood City is a good choice for a big group gathering. They have a ton of spacious tables perfect for family-style dining, and our service was fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept our water glasses full throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food itself was a bit of a mixed bag. The Vegetarian Manchurian house special had a decent sauce, but the Manchurian itself was a bit soggy on the inside. It felt like it had been sitting in sauce for a bit too long. The egg fried rice with BBQ pork was another letdown. The rice was undercooked, and the BBQ pork itself was bland and lacked the smoky sweetness you would expect. The hot iron plate style chicken had so much potential, but the execution fell flat. They put the chicken on top of the crispy rice, which sounds good in theory, but it meant the rice got soggy almost immediately. By the time you got to the rice, it was all mushy. Overall, Crouching Tiger is a good option for a large group with friendly service, but the food needs some work. I'd recommend sticking with simpler dishes and maybe skipping the sizzling plate options.

Nothing special about the place considering the high reviews. The food was average and there wasn't really anything that stood out. You can get this kind of food anywhere. It had a clean but basic interior with two cute tiger statues outside.

What a treat! The food is phenomenal and at the right price. Authentic Chinese cuisine right at the heart of the Peninsula. This restaurant is definitely not your Americanized Chinese food. We're talking about a proper authentic meal at a somewhat rundown place which just adds to the experience. Absolutely will return.

I can't believe this place is rated so highly. The interior is nice enough but my friend and I both ordered Walnut Prawns with fried rice and the rice wasn't fried; it was just white rice with a few pieces of peas and egg added. Walnut prawns are usually on the sweet side but these were disgustingly sweet. Honestly m the worst I've ever had. The service was fine but I won't be returning,

Had a birthday celebration here. Their newly-renovated outdoor platform was nice. Ample space to do a magic show and buffet lunch for crowd of 60 inside and outside. Thumbs up for service, food and atmosphere. The owner, Tonia, was very friendly and accommodating. Only posting pics before the crowd due to privacy.
