About Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant
Welcome to Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant, a Chinese Restaurant located at 1291 Parkside Dr, Walnut Creek, CA 94596. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant offers a menu that includes a variety of dim sum items and other Chinese dishes, catering to the local community in Walnut Creek. Based on recent customer reviews, the dining experience at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant appears to be somewhat mixed, with positive feedback on certain dishes contrasted by criticisms of others, as well as concerns regarding pricing and service charges.
One customer provided a detailed breakdown of their dim sum experience. They noted that the shrimp used in the dim sum was fresh, which is a positive indicator of ingredient quality. However, they found the chow mein to be "horrible," describing it as "so dry, overcooked, too much oil." Similarly, their experience with the beef chow fun was negative, citing "too much oil" and a lack of taste. They also mentioned an excessive use of "meat softener" in the beef, which resulted in a "weird" taste. The clay pot beef stew was also criticized for having "no taste" and the beef being "so chewy." On a more positive note, this reviewer found the daikon cakes to be "too soft," which might be a matter of personal preference, and reported that the siu mai and shrimp har gow were "good." This detailed feedback suggests that the quality and preparation of dishes at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant can vary significantly.
This same reviewer also highlighted a service policy that customers should be aware of: an automatic addition of an 18% gratuity to the bill for parties of five people or more. This is a common practice in some restaurants for larger groups, but it is important for diners to note this policy, especially when planning to dine with a party of five or more, as it will affect the final cost of their meal.
Another customer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the pricing and portion sizes at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant. They specifically mentioned the sweet and sour pork costing $20 and described the portion as "so tiny and not barely one person portion," even including a picture of the takeout container to illustrate its small size. This reviewer suggested that an alternative option, such as purchasing cooked takeout from 99 Ranch Market, might offer comparable taste at a more reasonable price. They also pointed out that the dim sum shrimp fried meatballs were priced at $8.99 for just three "tiny balls," which they deemed "way too expensive." This customer's overall experience led them to conclude that their dinner, which cost over $30, was "not worth it," and they advised others not to "waste your money" at this establishment. This review raises significant concerns about the value proposition offered by Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant.
The environment of Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant is not explicitly described in the provided reviews. However, based on the nature of the feedback, it is difficult to infer much about the ambiance or decor. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the quality and pricing of the food, as well as the service policy regarding gratuity.
The services offered by Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant likely include both dine-in and takeout, given the mention of a takeout tray in one of the reviews. As a dim sum restaurant, a key feature would typically be the availability of a variety of small, Cantonese-style dishes, often served in steamers or small plates. However, the mixed reviews on the quality of these items suggest that the execution may not always meet expectations. The automatic gratuity policy for larger parties is another service-related feature that potential customers should be aware of.
Based on the limited information, it is challenging to identify specific unique features of Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant beyond its offering of dim sum and other Chinese dishes. The reviews do not highlight any particular specialties that consistently receive high praise across the board. The inconsistency in food quality, with some items being well-received (fresh shrimp, siu mai, har gow) while others are heavily criticized (chow mein, beef chow fun, clay pot beef stew), suggests a lack of consistent excellence across the menu.
There is no promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. Customers looking for any special offers, discounts, or promotions at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant would need to inquire directly with the restaurant or check their website or any local advertising.
In conclusion, Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant in Walnut Creek presents a somewhat unpredictable dining experience based on recent customer reviews. While some dim sum items, such as the shrimp, siu mai, and har gow, have been described as good, other dishes like the chow mein, beef chow fun, and clay pot beef stew have received significant criticism regarding their preparation, taste, and texture. Additionally, customers have expressed concerns about the high prices and small portion sizes of some items, such as the sweet and sour pork and the shrimp fried meatballs. Furthermore, it is important for parties of five or more to be aware of the automatic 18% gratuity added to their bill. Potential diners should weigh these mixed reviews and consider their own preferences and priorities regarding food quality, pricing, and service policies before deciding to dine at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant. For those who do choose to visit, it may be advisable to inquire about the preparation methods and portion sizes of specific dishes before ordering. To contact Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant, you can call (925) 256-6869 or visit them at 1291 Parkside Dr in Walnut Creek.

Dimsum: shrimp was fresh, chow mein was horrible, so dry, overcooked, too much oil, beef chow fun was bad, too much oil,no taste, also they put too much meat softener in the beef, made the beef taste weird. Clay pot beef stew was no taste, the beef was so chewy. Daikon cakes was too soft, the siu mai, shrimp har gaw were good. They automatically add 18% of tip on the bill if your party is 5 people or more.
So expensive. Sweet and sour pork cost $20. So tiny and not barley one person portion. See how tiny the take out tray is. You might as well go to 99 ranch for their cooked take out. Tastes the same anyway. See attached pics. and a dim sum shrimp fried meatballs are $8.99. That’s way too expensive for 3 tiny balls. We bought this for dinner. The total is over $30. Not worth it. Don’t waste your money.
Food here are overpriced for the quality of the dishes. they don’t even taste good. Fried rice had no flavor and soggy. Salted egg pumpkin had a weird taste and didn’t look appetizing. Veggies too oily. Mu shu Chicken was average. I watched the server packed to-gos for other customers but us. Overall, not worth the price. Will not be back.
First class Dim Sum spot, slightly off of the beaten path for those of us who live closer to the coast. Definitely worth the drive, creek house dim sum restaurant offers top-notch dim sum including Shumai, Ha Gao, fried and baked pork buns, along with some Cantonese favorites like chicken legs and flat noodles. I'd recommend this place all the seeking to explore the world of dim sum. TIP: buy a bottle of their house made hot sauce. It is to die for
I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience. The dim sum was overpriced and lacked quality. The xiaolongbao, in particular, were clearly frozen and seemed to have been heated up in a microwave, resulting in a dried and unappetizing dish. Overall, the food was not tasty at all…. and the experience was far from worth the price. Save your money and dine elsewhere.
