About Corner Express

Corner Express, situated at 5750 Whittier Blvd in Commerce, California, offers a unique approach to Chinese cuisine within the local restaurant landscape. As a Chinese restaurant, Corner Express provides a self-serve buffet experience where food is priced at $5.99 per pound, allowing customers to select a variety of dishes and control their portion sizes. Additionally, the establishment has gained some attention through its participation in the TooGoodToGo app, offering "Surprise bags" of food at a discounted price, and also features a selection of beverages like boba and smoothies, as well as a small ice cream section.

One customer shared a highly positive experience stemming from their use of the TooGoodToGo app. They purchased a "Surprise bag" from Corner Express for $9.99 and were delighted to receive two full plates of food just ten minutes before the closing time. This reviewer described the offering as "such a steal" and found everything to be "so delicious." They expressed their gratitude to both TooGoodToGo and Corner Express for their satisfying and affordable dinner.

In contrast, another customer who experienced the regular self-serve buffet had a more mixed review. This individual tried a little bit of various dishes to sample the food. Unfortunately, they found that half of the food they selected was cold. On a more positive note, they purchased both a boba and a smoothie and reported that both drinks were great. When considering a return visit, this customer indicated a potential inclination to come back for the drinks but not necessarily for the food, citing the issue with the cold dishes. They also noted the presence of a small ice cream section within the restaurant.

Considering these two recent reviews, Corner Express presents a somewhat varied experience for its customers. The participation in the TooGoodToGo app appears to be a significant draw for some, offering substantial amounts of food at a very attractive price, with at least one customer finding the quality to be delicious. This suggests that the "Surprise bags" might be a notable feature for local users looking for affordable meals and are open to trying a selection of the day's offerings.

However, the experience with the regular self-serve buffet seems to have some drawbacks, specifically concerning the temperature of the food. The fact that half of the sampled dishes were cold is a significant issue that could deter customers seeking hot and freshly prepared meals. While the boba and smoothies received positive feedback, and the presence of an ice cream section offers additional options, the primary focus of a Chinese restaurant is typically the food itself.

For local users in Commerce looking for a Chinese restaurant, Corner Express offers a couple of distinct features: a self-serve buffet priced by weight and participation in the TooGoodToGo app. The buffet style allows for customization of meals and portion control, and the price of $5.99 per pound could be appealing to those mindful of cost. However, the reported issue with cold food is a significant factor to consider.

The TooGoodToGo "Surprise bags" seem to offer a different value proposition, providing a substantial amount of food at a fixed, discounted price, which at least one customer found to be delicious. This could be an attractive option for those flexible with their meal choices and seeking affordability. However, the availability and contents of these bags would likely vary daily.

The availability of boba, smoothies, and ice cream adds another dimension to Corner Express, potentially making it a convenient spot for those looking for a quick drink or dessert in addition to or separate from their meal. However, the core offering remains the Chinese food.

Corner Express, located at 5750 Whittier Blvd, Commerce, CA 90022, can be contacted at (323) 490-7552 or +1 323-490-7552 for any inquiries about their buffet, the TooGoodToGo program, or their beverage and dessert options. As a Chinese restaurant with a self-serve model and additional offerings, it presents a unique option for local diners. Potential customers should weigh the positive feedback regarding the value from TooGoodToGo against the concerns raised about the temperature of the buffet food when making their decision.

In conclusion, Corner Express in Commerce offers a self-serve Chinese food buffet and participates in the TooGoodToGo app. While one customer found great value and delicious food through the app, another experienced issues with cold food from the buffet. The restaurant also offers boba, smoothies, and ice cream. Local users should consider these mixed reviews and the unique service model when deciding whether to visit Corner Express.

It's a serve yourself Chinese food 5.99 the lb. I got a little bit of everything just to try their food. Unfortunately half of my food was cold. I bought a boba and a smoothie Both are great. Would I consider coming back? Maybe for drinks but not for food. They also have a small ice cream section.

Tried it through too good to go. Lots of food! A bit saltier than I like but loved the variety and overall delicious. Also love that they are doing TGTG right, decreasing food waste at the end of the day.

Food was lacking flavor, coconut shrimp was 70% breading and 30% shrimp. Noodles flavorless, self-service is a good concept but not when staff is expecting tips. In my opinion not the best location
