Customer reviews present a somewhat divided perspective on Color Oaks Chinese Food, particularly regarding the food quality, potentially linked to a change in ownership. One long-time customer expresses strong satisfaction, stating, "The food here is so good! It our favorite Chinese food in the area." This positive review highlights the deliciousness of the food and mentions a specific favorite, the "jalapeño chicken," which is highly recommended. The reviewer also praises the owner as being "so sweet" and consistently provides excellent service with a smile, indicating a positive and welcoming personal touch.

In contrast, a more recent review expresses significant disappointment, noting "New ownership" as a potential factor. This customer described the food as "probably the most bland Chinese food I've ever had." They tried several dishes, including mapo tofu, Sichuan beef, vegetable soft noodles, and hot and sour soup, and found them so lacking in flavor that they could not even finish their meal. This negative experience underscores a considerable shift in food quality according to this reviewer, especially given their desire for the restaurant to be good due to its proximity and convenience.

Despite the strong criticism of the food, the second reviewer did offer some positive feedback regarding the service. They awarded a star for the "friendly" staff and another star for the "quick service." This suggests that while the food may not have met their expectations, the customer service aspects of Color Oaks Chinese Food were commendable. The reviewer also expressed hope for "future improvement," indicating a willingness to reconsider the restaurant if the food quality were to improve.

The discrepancy in these reviews suggests a potentially significant change in the food preparation or recipes under new ownership. While one customer continues to enjoy the food and praises specific dishes like the jalapeño chicken, another experienced a lack of flavor across multiple dishes. This highlights the importance for potential customers to consider these differing perspectives when deciding whether to try Color Oaks Chinese Food.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Color Oaks Chinese Food based on the provided reviews. In conclusion, Color Oaks Chinese Food in Thousand Oaks is a Chinese restaurant that has received both high praise and significant criticism in recent customer reviews. A long-time patron raves about the delicious food, particularly the jalapeño chicken, and the friendly owner. However, a more recent review cites a significant decline in food quality under new ownership, describing multiple dishes as bland and flavorless, although acknowledging friendly and quick service. Potential customers should be aware of these differing opinions and may wish to try the restaurant to form their own judgment. For the most up-to-date information on the menu, current promotions, and any changes in food preparation, contacting Color Oaks Chinese Food directly is advised.

New ownership. Probably the most bland Chinese food I've ever had. Tried mapo tofu, Sichuan beef, veg soft noodles, and hot n sour soup and could not even finish it. I really wanted the food to be tasty since the place is so close and convenient. I gave it an extra star because the staff is friendly and another star for quick service and hoping there will be future improvement...

Great Chinese Food take-out place in this Pandemic stay home period. Inexpensive and large quantity. Orange Chicken is way better than Panda Express, also I would recommend Shredded pork Szechuan Style, Beef with Broccoli , Eggplant and Tofu in Garlic Sauce, and for dessert, try Sesame Ball and Red Bean Bun. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for quick Chinese food, this is the spot, but if you’re looking for Chinese food that will actually make you feel somewhat satisfied after eating it just go to imperial. The food on display looked as if it had been sitting there drying out for hours and it was an instant red flag when I asked for Shu Mai and they said it was it was a 10-15 minute wait. I am nearly positive this Shu Mai was frozen and then warmed up/steamed to order. I don’t know if they actually make it in house but regardless it was not good. The Trader Joes frozen Shu Mai definitely beats this which is sad. If you want affordable and quick Chinese food, you should be good with the basic food options, especially if you are getting one of the lunch combo plates. Apart from that it’s a no go.

Wish I had this place in college! Lowest prices anywhere in T.O., L.A. or the Conejo Valley. The atmosphere is super dive-y. But what would expect for a $4.99 lunch special and $6.99 dinner special? Slightly greasy but very generous portions (see photos). Friendly owners cook/clean/serve & handle register. Carnivore on loved the pan fried dumplings: TWELVE for $7.99. I enjoyed the HUGE green onion (vegetarian) pancake for ONLY $3.99. If you want cheap dim sum or dumpling carryout this is the place. Inside seating only recommended if you enjoy reliving the dive days of college.
