About Coal Mine Dragon Chinese

Welcome to Coal Mine Dragon Chinese, which has recently reopened under new management and now also operates as Pho Toi, located at 6320 US-85 in Fountain, Colorado (zip code 80817). While initially known as a Chinese restaurant, this establishment has expanded its offerings to include Vietnamese cuisine, particularly pho, and is now being recognized as a premier Asian food destination in the Colorado Springs area. You can contact them at (719) 390-4445 or their mobile number +1 719-390-4445 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on enthusiastic recent customer reviews, the transformation of Coal Mine Dragon into Pho Toi has been a resounding success. One reviewer, who had previously decided not to eat at the establishment before its reopening, expressed immense satisfaction after returning under the new management. They lauded the fried rice as "some of the best I've had" and the Pho Bo Vien (pho with meatballs) as "amazing." This indicates a significant improvement in the food quality compared to the previous iteration of the restaurant.

A notable feature highlighted by this reviewer is the thoughtful packaging for takeout pho. The to-go containers are partitioned to keep the hot broth, cold noodles and vegetables, and meat separate, ensuring that the pho remains fresh and of optimal quality even when enjoyed off-site. The reviewer also mentioned that all the food, including fried chicken (presumably a holdover from the previous Chinese menu or a new addition), is made on-site and is delicious, further emphasizing the commitment to fresh preparation.

The service at the reopened establishment has also received high praise. The reviewer recounted a positive interaction with the staff member behind the counter, who was described as "super understanding" and accommodating when the reviewer was tending to their two-month-old child. The staff member even engaged in conversation, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. This level of customer service goes above and beyond standard expectations, suggesting a genuine care for patrons.

Another significant improvement noted is the wait time, which is described as "basically nothing" compared to what it used to be. This indicates increased efficiency in the kitchen and service operations under the new management. Furthermore, while the menu is largely new to reflect the Vietnamese pho offerings, the restaurant also retains a "legacy menu," suggesting that some of the previous popular Chinese dishes might still be available upon request. This thoughtful approach caters to both new and returning customers who might have enjoyed the previous menu.

The overall sentiment from the recent reviews is overwhelmingly positive. One reviewer explicitly states, "If you ate at CMD before and didn't like it, go there now, it's my new favorite spot in all of colorado springs." This is a powerful endorsement and encourages those with past negative experiences to give the revitalized restaurant another chance. Another reviewer simply declares, "This place is amazing. They have now combined to make Pho and it's absolutely delicious." They were so impressed that they "ate every bite and drank every drop of pho" and gave the restaurant a rating of "11/10," urging others to support this local establishment and confirming that the prices are good.

The fact that multiple reviewers were so eager to share their positive experiences, with one even breaking their own rule of not leaving reviews, underscores the significant positive impact of the new management and the quality of the food and service at the reopened Coal Mine Dragon (Pho Toi). The combination of delicious Chinese fried rice and authentic Vietnamese pho, coupled with exceptional customer care and efficient service, positions this restaurant as a standout in the Fountain and Colorado Springs culinary scene.

While the reviews do not explicitly describe the environment or decor of the restaurant under the new management, the focus on improved food quality and service suggests that efforts have likely been made to enhance the overall customer experience. The mention of partitioned to-go containers indicates a practical and thoughtful approach to ensuring food quality for takeout orders.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. However, given the recent reopening and the overwhelmingly positive feedback, it is possible that Pho Toi (formerly Coal Mine Dragon Chinese) might be running introductory specials or promotions to attract new and returning customers. Local users are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly via phone or check local online listings for any current offers.

In conclusion, Coal Mine Dragon Chinese, now operating as Pho Toi, in Fountain, CO, represents a significant revitalization and a must-try for local users and those in the wider Colorado Springs area. The new management has clearly made a positive impact, with customers raving about the delicious Chinese fried rice and the authentic Vietnamese pho. The exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and thoughtful takeout packaging further enhance the dining experience. Whether you were a previous patron or are looking for a new favorite Asian food spot, the reopened Coal Mine Dragon (Pho Toi) comes highly recommended based on recent customer feedback. Don't hesitate to support this local restaurant and discover the best of both Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.

Ive never left a review before but definitely needed to this time. (Also forgive the Pho picture, it was so good I ate basically all of it before even thinking about leaving a review) The reopened "Coal Mine Dragon" (now the Pho Toi) is hands down the best asian food place in Colorado Springs. BEFORE the reopening of the Coal Mine Dragon to the Pho menu, I decided to not eat there ever again. I'm so glad I went back after the new management took over. I had the fried rice, which was some of the best I've had, and the Pho Bo Vien(the Pho with meatballs) and it was all amazing. The to-go containers for the Pho are partitioned out between the hots/colds/and soup, it's all(including the fried chicken) made on site and so good. The service was amazing, the man behind the counter was super understanding about me wandering the restaurant with my two month old when he was getting restless. He even swapped stories with me as I was rocking my little one. The wait time was basically nothing compared to how it used to be, the food is so much better, the menu is all new but if you want the old menu they do have a legacy menu. If you ate at CMD before and didn't like it, go there now, it's my new favorite spot in all of colorado springs.

I had lunch on their third day of "grand opening" after changing from the Chinese restaurant to a Vietnamese restaurant. The pescatarian pho was really good. In fact it's only one of two places that I would consider a good pescatarian pho. The broth was vegetable broth instead of beef broth that a lot of places use for their seafood pho. The food server was really friendly and knowledgeable. The restrooms were newly renovated. The male restroom had some tools in it as it was at the end of the renovation, but overall very very good-looking and clean. Excellent atmosphere. The food is a hair more expensive than the last menu, but it's understandable for this type of food made in house ( a lot of people don't understand in the restaurant business, restaurants actually buy their food frozen from somewhere). Most pho has to be made in house.

Update 03-29-2025 *The Restaurant has a New Staff and possibly new management, the staff is very respectful and the food has improved so much that it's worth updating my review. I watched the new employees constantly cleaning and when people departed they immediately went to clean the table and the carpeting. Great improvement overall and I highly recommend this place " In comparison to restaurants in the area, you can still get a good lunch meal for under $15 dollars. (Dinner meal is more expensive than lunch, for affordability lunch is preferable) This restaurant is excellent and I highly recommend it.

We only recently discovered this gem of a restaurant when we decided to try it with our out-of-state friends. They are more experienced with Vietnamese food and claimed that this was the best Pho they've had. We've been back since, and we loved everything about it: staff are extremely nice, food is super tasty and filling (and fairly priced!) and the atmosphere is very relaxing - perfect for a date night or a chill meetup with friends.
