About Coal Mine Dragon
Coal Mine Dragon is a Chinese restaurant located at 1720 W Uintah St in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a local establishment in the Chinese restaurant category, it offers a range of Chinese cuisine for residents and visitors. They can be contacted at (719) 578-5430 or +1 719-578-5430. The address indicates a physical presence in Colorado Springs, suggesting options for takeout and potentially dine-in services, although the reviews primarily focus on takeout experiences.
Based on the limited customer feedback available online, the overall sentiment towards Coal Mine Dragon appears to be significantly negative. One reviewer, who was visiting the area and had received recommendations to try this restaurant, expressed extreme disappointment with their order, rating it a 1/10. They found the combination rice to be average, but had serious issues with several other dishes. The Mongolian beef, while noted for having good flavor, suffered from "soggy and soft" meat. The most severe criticism was directed at the orange chicken and the shrimp egg foo young, both described as "awful" and "horrible." The reviewer found the egg foo young to be unlike any they had experienced before, describing it as deep-fried, heavily floured, dry, and hard, regardless of the sauce being served on the side. The orange chicken was perceived as not fresh, tasting as if it had been reheated and was described as "disgusting." This negative experience resulted in a $70 bill for food that was deemed inedible, leading to extreme disappointment.
Another customer reported a negative interaction with the front staff, stating that an "incompetent woman at the front messed up my order and charged me for the previous patron's tab." This indicates potential issues with order accuracy and billing practices, which can significantly detract from the customer experience.
Further feedback described the food as "mid, below mid," suggesting a lack of quality and flavor. Specifically, the Mongolian beef was criticized as being "incorrect" due to the absence of celery, implying a deviation from expected preparation or ingredients for this dish.
One particularly harsh review labeled the establishment as "a joke" and expressed the belief that there are "better china food in the springs within a mile." This strongly suggests a high level of dissatisfaction and a lack of confidence in the restaurant's offerings compared to other local options.
Adding to the negative experiences, another reviewer mentioned being charged twice on their card, indicating potential issues with payment processing. This is a serious concern that can lead to inconvenience and frustration for customers.
Overall, the publicly available reviews for Coal Mine Dragon paint a concerning picture. Customers have reported significant issues with food quality, including soggy Mongolian beef, inedible and seemingly old orange chicken, and poorly prepared egg foo young. There are also complaints about incorrect orders, being charged for other customers' tabs, missing ingredients in dishes, and potential double charges. The general sentiment suggests a lack of satisfaction and a recommendation against trying this restaurant.
Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding food quality, service issues, and billing errors, local users seeking a reliable Chinese restaurant in Colorado Springs may want to exercise caution when considering Coal Mine Dragon. The reviews highlight potential inconsistencies and significant disappointments with multiple dishes. While individual experiences can vary, the consistency of the negative comments across different aspects of the dining experience raises concerns about the overall quality and service provided by this establishment.
Prospective customers might want to consider exploring other Chinese restaurant options in the vicinity that have received more positive and consistent feedback regarding their food quality, service, and order accuracy. The strong negative recommendations from multiple reviewers suggest that Coal Mine Dragon may not currently be meeting the expectations of its customers.
As there is no promotional information or positive feedback to counterbalance the negative reviews, it is challenging to identify any specific features or services that might be considered a draw for potential customers. The existing information strongly advises caution and suggests that there may be more satisfactory options available within the local Chinese restaurant category in Colorado Springs.

This place was awful! 1/10. We are visiting and several people referred us here. It’s another place we heard was good right at the corner of where we’re staying and we were told by many to go here instead. For days we wanted to order and finally did and we were extremely disappointed. The combination rice was average. The Mongolian beef had great flavor but the meat was so soggy and soft. The real issue was the orange chicken and the shrimp eggfoo young. They were both awful! Horrible! The egg foo young was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I’ve had that many places and never seen it look deep fried in heavy flour or something. It was dry and hard as a biscuit. And it had nothing to do with the sauce being on the side. Every takeout put the sauce on the side. It was disgusting. The orange chicken had to be days old. It was not fresh and you could taste that it had been warmed up. So extremely disappointed. $70 for disgusting food
Incompetent woman at the front messed up my order, and charged me for the previous patrons tab. Food was mid, below mid. And their Mongolian beef is simply, incorrect. There was no celery. This place is a joke. Pretty sure there is better china food in the springs within a mile. But no, no, I would not recommend. Also my card was charged 2x. Larry Southfield
Delicious! I ordered the sesame chicken and the spare ribs. Everything was cooked well and had a great taste. The price is a little higher but the portions are good and so is the taste so it’s worth it. The sesame chicken was labeled as spicy. Even though it had a little spice it was mostly just for the flavor and didn’t burn my mouth at all. Which I liked. I ordered delivery and it arrived quickly.
The food was bland. I asked for spicy. I didn't get what I ordered. And then I saw my tab was inaccurate for what I had ordered. It was way higher. Sad! So now tomorrow I get to spend time on the phone with my bank. But to yall reading this, don't make the mistake I did. There are well over 100 Chinese restaurants in El Paso County. I think I'll go to one of the other ones. Thanks for reading my review! Jim
We ordered “take out” service on a Saturday around 7pm. The service was very fast and there was a huge amount of food. Unfortunately my chicken Pad Thai was disappointing. The noodles were very sticky and over cooked and broke apart and there was a lot of Tofu and very little chicken. I am not a fan of Tofu due to the texture not an allergy thankfully. The flavor was good overall, but the presentation and freshness was suspect and I did not order Tofu. Had not been here in years and went because it was close and our usual place was closed. Maybe it was a fluke???? But was disappointed.
