About Clear Lake Hunan Restaurant

Clear Lake Hunan Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Hunan cuisine, located at 2323 Clear Lake City Blvd #158 in Houston, Texas. They can be contacted by phone at (281) 286-8886 or +1 281-286-8886.

Customer experiences at Clear Lake Hunan Restaurant appear to be varied. One recent customer who was new to the neighborhood reported a positive experience, stating that the staff were very helpful and the food was delicious. They enjoyed the dim sum appetizers, sesame chicken, and a custom chicken dish with their choice of vegetables and sauce, describing everything as "amazing." This suggests that some diners have found the food and service to be excellent.

However, another recent review painted a less favorable picture. This customer, also new to the Clear Lake area, described a disappointing dine-in experience. They noted that the restaurant was empty on a weekend evening and found the ambiance and cleanliness lacking, mentioning cracked booths, a foul-smelling restroom, and tables covered in industrial plastic. The service was described as slow and the waiter as uninterested and preoccupied. While they found the fried rice to be "pretty good," they reported having to repeatedly ask for items like white rice, drink refills, and soy sauce. The reviewer also mentioned that the waiter's attire was casual and that the restaurant does not serve beer or wine despite having wine racks. Overall, this customer would not recommend the restaurant.

Given these contrasting reviews, it seems that experiences at Clear Lake Hunan Restaurant can differ significantly. Potential customers may want to take both positive and negative feedback into account when considering this dining option.

We are purchasing a house in the neighborhood and wanted a place to relax and feed the baby before heading home. We were really glad we chose this restaurant. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious. We had dim sum for appetizers and each tried a meal. My wife had Sesame Chicken and I created my own chicken meal with my choice of vegetables and sauce. Everything was amazing!

Recently moved to the Clear Lake area. Wish I had read some reviews ahead of time. Family of 4 went looking for a nice casual sit down Dinner, unfortunately that's is not what we got! We should have trusted the look of the restaurant once we finally got seated. The place was empty at 7 on a weekend night. The booths are cracking and falling apart, restroom was foul smelling and carried into restaurant. The tables were cover in a weird industrial plastic, I would imagine covering up tables that aren't visually appealing. The place was a creepy kind of quiet. It took a bit to get service, and the older gentleman that waited on us didn't seem to interested in answering our question, seemed preoccupied. Food arrived and really the only thing that was pretty good was the fried rice. We continually were waiting for items that were not brought, sides of white rice, drink refill, soy sauce etc. The older gentleman was wearing a sweat shirt type top not sure if he was cook and waiter, but wasn't very good at either. They did seem to have an active group of teens folding menus near the front. Oh and if you're looking for a beer or glass of wine, look elsewhere as they don't offer either, yet they had wine bottle racks!. overall just a VERY disappointing dinner out with the family. Would NOT recommend.

We went here to have Peking duck and were happy with the results! Forgot a picture of the main course, but did get a picture of the duck soup which was amazing. All the other food was delicious too, we got most items off the dim sum menu with my favorite being the steamed mini pork bun. The server was attentive but the place itself looked a bit shabby.

Food was Mediocre. Owner of the establishment is extremely rude! Atmosphere uninviting,. Disposable industrial plastic table cloths. Table lacked individual condiments. Seems like they are on the verge of going out of business! Would not go back! Much better places to support that value customers.

Overall the food was good with the exception of the exceptionally small egg rolls and undercooked won tons in the soup (the broth was delicious). And the service was good except for the fact that the table was never cleared of empty dishes as the meal progressed. That is not only annoying but just unsightly and unprofessional. And the atmosphere could have been 5 stars except that they have these terrible looking, torn sheets of plastic over their nice tables that are leftovers from the scamdemic of 2019 (they are new sheets, not used. They are replaced after each use). In fact, it looks so terrible and unprofessional to where we nearly turned around and left whenever I got a glimpse of all these tables being covered with plastic. Looks like the place is under renovation or something. We've been looking for a good oriental restaurant and this one almost fit the bill. We may go back and try again in about 6 months. Yet if they still have those tables covered in plastic we won't go in, we'll find some place else. And I really trust they would make better, bigger egg rolls, verify fully cooked won tons and permanently ditch the plastic covers.
