About City Dragon

Welcome to City Dragon, a Chinese restaurant located at 2885 El Cajon Blvd in San Diego, CA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, City Dragon serves the local community with a variety of Chinese cuisine. Situated on El Cajon Boulevard, a well-known thoroughfare in San Diego, it is likely accessible to many residents and visitors in the area, offering options for those seeking Chinese food for dine-in or takeout.

Based on recent customer reviews, the environment and service style at City Dragon have undergone a change. One reviewer noted that the restaurant "stopped being fast casual," transitioning to a model where "everything is made to order." This shift has implications for the dining experience, potentially leading to longer wait times for food preparation compared to a fast-casual setup where some dishes might be readily available. The reviewer also mentioned a surprise at this change, suggesting it might not be widely known. This new made-to-order approach could appeal to customers who prioritize freshly prepared meals, but might be less convenient for those seeking a quick bite.

The services offered by City Dragon include both dine-in and takeout. The fact that it was previously "fast casual" and now offers "made to order" service implies that dine-in is still an option, albeit with a different service model. Customers can likely place their orders at a counter or with a server, depending on the specific setup. Takeout service is also undoubtedly available, as is common for most Chinese restaurants. One reviewer specifically cautioned against using the "on line ordering," mentioning issues with their card being charged and the order not being sent. This suggests that while online ordering might be offered, it may not be reliable at this time, and customers might have a better experience ordering in person or by phone at (619) 280-2255 or +1 619-280-2255.

A key feature of City Dragon, as highlighted by a customer review, is the current focus of their menu. The reviewer mentioned ordering four dishes, and aside from the noodles, the three chicken and seafood dishes were all fried. This led to disappointment for the reviewer, who seemingly was not expecting such a heavy emphasis on fried items. Based on this feedback, a significant portion of City Dragon's menu may now consist of fried Chinese dishes served with various sauces. This could be a draw for customers who specifically enjoy this style of cooking but might be limiting for those seeking more diverse or non-fried options in their Chinese cuisine. The reviewer's comment, "If you like fried Chinese food with sauce, then you’ll like this place," provides a clear indication of the current culinary direction of City Dragon.

Another point raised by a customer is regarding the portion sizes. One reviewer observed that "the portions are a little smaller" but expressed understanding due to current economic times. This suggests that while the restaurant might still offer reasonable amounts of food, customers who have visited in the past might notice a slight reduction in serving sizes. This is a factor for potential customers to consider in terms of value for money.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for City Dragon based on the provided customer reviews. It is common for Chinese restaurants to offer lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. Given the recent changes in their service model, City Dragon might have new promotions to attract customers to their made-to-order service or highlight specific menu items. Local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers: (619) 280-2255 or +1 619-280-2255 to inquire about any current specials or deals.

In conclusion, City Dragon in San Diego on El Cajon Blvd has transitioned from a fast-casual model to a made-to-order service, which might affect the speed of service but could ensure fresher preparation. Customer reviews indicate a potential issue with their online ordering system, suggesting that ordering in person or by phone might be more reliable. A significant portion of the menu appears to focus on fried chicken and seafood dishes, which may appeal to some but disappoint others looking for a broader range of Chinese cooking styles. Additionally, a customer noted that portion sizes might be slightly smaller than in the past. Potential customers should consider these recent changes and the emphasis on fried food when deciding whether to dine at or order from City Dragon. For the most accurate information on their current menu, hours of operation, and any ongoing promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Looks like the portions are a little smaller but, in these times, I can understand. Once again, Men star the on line ordering screws up by charging my card, telling me it was declined and not sending my order. Save yourself the frustration, go in and order it call your order in.

I hadn’t been here since it stopped being fast casual. That was a surprise. Unfortunately, that means everything is made to order and I didn’t know what it looked like. We got 4 dishes and besides the noodles, the 3 other chicken and seafood dishes were fried which was disappointing. If you like fried Chinese food with sauce, then you’ll like this place.

Ordered takeout for the family here, and it really hit the spot. I ordered in person and they said it would take 10-15 minutes, but came out in about 5. The people who took my order were super friendly and welcoming. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Will definitely be returning

I ordered through GrubHub but they use their own drivers (which I didn't know) and they were so fast! The food was super fresh and hot. I ordered the chicken with string beans and the spicy fried mushrooms, both are very tasty. Highly recommend!

Ordered delivery from their website. The food was delicious and delivery was super fast! My favorite Chinese food place by far. Will be ordering again (and again). I loved the shrimp rolls - highly recommend.
