About City Chopsticks

Welcome to City Chopsticks, a Chinese Restaurant located at 127 N McDowell Blvd, Petaluma, CA 94954. As a part of the local Chinese Restaurant category, City Chopsticks offers a variety of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout customers in the Petaluma area. Based on customer feedback, City Chopsticks is known for its flavorful food and generous portion sizes, making it a popular choice for those seeking a satisfying Chinese meal.

According to one customer's experience, the service at City Chopsticks was generally "great," highlighting the attentiveness of the staff. However, this reviewer also noted two instances where they were brought a dish they did not order (prawns) and subsequently received a bill that included the unordered item. While the staff was reportedly "quick to rectify the situation both times," this experience suggests that customers should be mindful of the dishes brought to their table and carefully review their bill before payment to ensure accuracy. Despite these initial errors, the reviewer emphasized that the food they did order was served in "large portions" and tasted "amazing." The specific dishes mentioned were Orange Chicken and Princess Chicken, both of which were clearly enjoyable and contributed to the positive overall impression of the food quality.

This same customer concluded that they would return to City Chopsticks, indicating that the quality and taste of the food, along with the generally good service, outweighed the initial issues with the order and billing. Their caveat was to "staying on top of what they bring to the table and reading the bill carefully," which serves as a useful tip for future diners.

Another customer, who had been a regular patron of City Chopsticks for over three years, primarily for lunch, shared a more critical experience regarding the restaurant's adherence to its stated lunch hours. This reviewer, who claimed to have visited the establishment "well over a dozen times," arrived at 3:03 PM and inquired if they could still order from the lunch menu, which is listed as being available from 11 AM to 3 PM. The response from a staff member was a firm "lunch is over." This interaction left the long-time customer feeling disappointed and questioning the restaurant's flexibility, particularly given their regular patronage and the minimal time past the stated lunch cutoff.

Drawing on their extensive experience in the hospitality industry, the reviewer argued that restaurants, unlike grocery stores with strict closing times, often have more flexibility, especially if the kitchen is not yet in the process of closing down for the day. In this instance, the reviewer noted that it was only three minutes past the lunch service end time and that the kitchen was not cleaning up. As a result of this perceived inflexibility, the customer chose to dine at a competing restaurant across the street, where they reported being "happily greeted" and enjoying "very good food as well." This incident underscores the potential impact of strict adherence to time-sensitive menus on customer loyalty, especially with regular patrons.

Considering these two reviews, City Chopsticks appears to be a restaurant that offers delicious Chinese food with generous portions, particularly highlighted by the positive feedback on dishes like Orange Chicken and Princess Chicken. The service is generally regarded as good, with staff being quick to address errors, although there have been instances of order inaccuracies. A point of potential concern for customers, especially those arriving close to the end of a service period, is the restaurant's policy on adhering strictly to its stated hours, as evidenced by the negative experience of a long-time lunch customer arriving just a few minutes late.

The environment of City Chopsticks is not explicitly described in the provided reviews. However, based on the nature of the feedback, it can be inferred that it is likely a casual dining setting suitable for enjoying a meal without particular emphasis on elaborate ambiance. The focus seems to be more on the quality and quantity of the food served.

The services offered include both dine-in and takeout, catering to different preferences for enjoying their Chinese cuisine. The large portions mentioned by a reviewer suggest that City Chopsticks aims to provide good value for money. While no specific promotional information is available in these reviews, it is common for restaurants to offer lunch specials or other discounts, so local users might want to inquire directly with City Chopsticks about any current promotions.

In conclusion, City Chopsticks in Petaluma is a Chinese restaurant known for serving tasty food in substantial portions. Popular dishes like Orange Chicken and Princess Chicken have received positive feedback. While the service is generally good, customers should be vigilant regarding the accuracy of their orders and bills. Additionally, those planning to dine close to the end of lunch hours should be aware of the restaurant's potential strict adherence to these times. For local users in Petaluma seeking a satisfying Chinese meal with generous servings, City Chopsticks is a viable option, keeping in mind the noted points regarding order accuracy and service hours. The service was great, except they tried bringing me prawns I didn't order and then brought the bill with the prawns still on it. They were quick to rectify the situation both times, but it is worth noting. The food we did order came in large portions and taste amazing! We ordered orange chicken and Princess Chicken. We'd go back, again, staying on top of what they bring to the table and reading the bill carefully.

I rated them high in all areas, so why 2 stars? Been coming here, mostly for lunch, for over 3 years. This last visit, I arrived at 3:03pm. Lunch is 11-3. I asked if I could still get lunch. The guy said "lunch is over". He's seen me well over a dozen times. I wasn't 15 min past, I was 3. I've been involved in hospitality in one form or another, on & off, for 53 years, this is not what you do to a regular customer. A restaurant is different than a grocery store, which needs to have a pretty hard "close" time. Restaurants to if a kitchen is closing down for end of day clean up. This was lunch and the kitchen was not cleaning up. So, went to the competition across the way from City Chopsticks and was happily greeted. Very good food as well.

The sweet and sour pork was tasty, pork had a nice crunch to it. The egg roll was cold and the soup was very nice. I like that they bring hot tea to the table when you sit down. Definitely bring a jacket or a sweater because it was cold in there. Overall, the food was good and I would eat there again if I were in the neighborhood, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Ate dinner here for the first time. Food was ok but the service was terrible..almost robotic. Server loudly placed food on the table out of my reach, did not ladle first serving of hot soup in my bowl as all good Chinese restaurants do, and then placed second food item far away from me on the table as well. The other server who brought tea did the same. Dropped it on the table and quickly left. They both were in a huge hurry though the restaurant was uncrowded and each looked deeply unhappy. This was not a pleasant dining experience at all and I won't refer friends or eat here again.

Good service, fast and polite. The food was a good portion size. The prices were very fair. To get five stars I would say to use higher quality beef but I understand that would raise the price.
