About Chuan Shabu
Located at 301 Park Ave in Worcester, Massachusetts, Chuan Shabu provides a unique dining experience centered around the hot pot concept, alongside a notable sushi offering. Although listed within a "Chinese Restaurant" category, Chuan Shabu specializes in all-you-can-eat (ACYE) hot pot, allowing diners to cook fresh vegetables and a selection of proteins in flavorful broths right at their table. You can contact them at (508) 762-9213 or via mobile at +1 508-762-9213 for reservations or inquiries.
Customer reviews highlight a pleasant surprise: the sushi. One reviewer proclaimed it the "best sushi I have ever had by far" and highly recommends the Dragon Breath Roll and Tiger Eye Roll. This suggests that Chuan Shabu is a noteworthy spot for sushi lovers as well.
For the hot pot experience, Chuan Shabu offers a variety of fresh vegetables and a selection of proteins, including some premium options. Customers have tried broths like Tom-Yom and Super Mala. While these were described as decent, some felt they could benefit from more depth and seasoning. The Super Mala broth was noted as not being as spicy as expected, and the Tom Yom lacked bold, herbal flavors. However, Chuan Shabu provides a sauce section where diners can customize their broths and create dipping sauces to their liking. Some found the protein quality to be a bit tough, while the seafood and vegetables were well-prepared and fresh. Takeout options like noodles and crab rangoons were reported as rather dry, suggesting that the in-house dining experience might be preferable.
The service at Chuan Shabu is described as generally fine, with staff being available when needed, although the hot pot style encourages a degree of self-service for cooking and sauces. The ambiance features recently updated modern decor with traditional touches that reflect the hot pot theme. The space is designed for communal dining, with large tables that foster sharing and socializing. Warm lighting and vibrant colors contribute to an inviting environment, making it suitable for gatherings. Parking is available to the right of the restaurant, and patrons can also park in the TD Bank lot nearby. For local users in Worcester seeking an interactive and communal dining experience with hot pot and surprisingly excellent sushi in a modern setting, Chuan Shabu is a solid option.

Waitress was very kind, food was delicious. Best sushi I have ever had by far. Atmosphere is very nice and calm. I highly recommend the Dragon Breath Roll and Tiger Eye Roll.
Food: They have ACYE hot pot style, with many fresh vegatables & protien selction. We choose the Tom-Yom & Super Mala broth which were decent, it could use more depth and seasoning to enhance the overall experience. The super mala wasn't as spicy as I thought and the Tom Yom just didnt have that bold, herbal flavors. Adding extra seasonings like a little extra spice or herbs or even better peppers could enhance better flavors. They do have a sauce section where you can grab it yourself and add to your brooth or use it as dipping. The selection of protein with a few premium is avaliable is solid, but the taste in quality just did not meet my expecatation as it was a bit tough. All the vegatables were fresh, and seafood was well prepared which I enjoyed. I also had thier noodles & crab rangoons for take-out which was rather dry, so perhaps take out wouldn't be my thing to do here. I gave this place another chance, and it is better than the last time. Overall, its a solid option to go to satisfy the craving during the colde season. Service: The service was fine, most staff tend to mind thier business and will arrive when you need something. Most of this is a help yourself kind of thing when it comes to cooking your own food or getting your own sauces. I believe they can be more attentive when needed. Ambiance: It recently just featured moremodern decor with touches of traditional elements that reflect its hot pot theme. The space is designed for communal dining, with large tables that encourage sharing and socializing. Warm lighting and vibrant colors create an inviting environment, making it a great spot for gatherings, Location accommodation: They have a parking right to the right of the resturant but you can park in the TD bank lot and walk right over.
Went for a date night at Chan shabu and From the moment we walked in, Taj made our experience unforgettable! He guided us through every step of the hot pot process, ensuring we got the perfect flavors and combinations. His recommendations for sauces were spot on—every bite was bursting with flavor! And let’s talk about the drinks—WOW! He crafted the most amazing drinks for us, balancing flavors like a true mixologist. His energy, knowledge, and top-tier customer service made our night exceptional. Taj isn’t just an employee—he’s the kind of person who turns a great restaurant into a favorite. He absolutely deserves a raise and absolutely who I’d want to be the face of my business, and if you visit, make sure to ask for him! We’ll definitely be back, and it’s all thanks to him!
Very clean and spacious. The servers were attentive and not too overbearing. The quality of the meat was good and presented well. Veggies were mostly fresh but some clearly showing signs of age. Portions were generous and arrived quickly after ordering. Sauce station is self service, also very clean and well maintained. The variety of meat, seafood and veggie offering is quite acceptable for a restaurant of this size and location. You will have greater variety in Boston. Overall, very satisfied for lunch.
It's probably the best hot pot place in Central massachusetts. My only criticism is that it takes absolutely forever for the broth to boil. You sometimes will have to wait 15 minutes which is kind of ridiculous. And if there is ever a refill of the broth it is not brought boiling but is cool so you'll have to wait some more time.
