About Chowking
Chowking, situated at 1535 Landess Ave in Milpitas, California, falls under the category of Chinese restaurants, offering a convenient and affordable option for local users seeking quick and easy Chinese takeout-style food. Based on recent customer reviews, Chowking appears to be a no-frills establishment that prioritizes speed, affordability, and friendly service, making it a practical choice for those on the go or looking for a budget-friendly meal.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer noted that Chowking is "not a luxury place." This suggests that the restaurant likely focuses on functionality and efficiency rather than elaborate decor or ambiance. Customers can probably expect a straightforward and casual setting, primarily geared towards quick service and takeout. While not explicitly detailed, the environment is implied to be adequate for its purpose as a fast and easy food option. The lack of negative comments about cleanliness or comfort suggests that the basic standards are met, even if it doesn't offer a high-end dining atmosphere.
In terms of services, Chowking seems to excel in providing "easy quick" takeout. This is a significant feature for local users who are looking for a fast meal solution without the need for a lengthy dining experience. The efficiency in their takeout service allows customers to grab their food and go, fitting into busy schedules. Additionally, one reviewer specifically praised the service, mentioning two staff members, Mila and another girl, as being "so welcoming." This highlights a positive aspect of their customer interaction, suggesting that the staff is friendly and creates a pleasant experience for patrons, even in a quick-service setting. The combination of speed and a welcoming attitude can contribute significantly to customer satisfaction and repeat business.
A key feature of Chowking, as indicated by one of the reviews, is its affordability. The reviewer mentioned that "The price is good," making it an attractive option for those looking for inexpensive Chinese food. In a region with a varying range of dining costs, a restaurant that offers good value for money can be a popular choice for everyday meals or when budget is a consideration. The combination of being quick, easy, and inexpensive positions Chowking as a practical solution for many local users seeking a hassle-free meal.
Another aspect to consider is the type of cuisine offered. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant, Chowking is known to offer a blend of Chinese and Filipino-Chinese dishes, particularly as it is an international chain with roots in the Philippines. Although not explicitly mentioned in these specific reviews, local users familiar with the Chowking brand might expect to find items that reflect this fusion, such as Pancit Canton, Chao Fan (fried rice), and potentially some uniquely Filipino-inspired dishes alongside more traditional Chinese takeout fare. This blend could be a unique feature that sets it apart from other purely Chinese restaurants in the area, catering to a broader range of palates and those familiar with Filipino cuisine.
The food itself is described by one reviewer as "easy to eat" and of "good quality." While "easy to eat" might suggest familiar and approachable dishes, the "good quality" aspect indicates that despite the affordability and speed, the restaurant maintains a certain standard in its food preparation. This balance of convenience, price, and quality is often a winning formula for fast-casual establishments.

While not positioned as a luxury dining experience, it appears to provide good value and quality for its price point. The friendly and welcoming service, particularly highlighted by the mention of staff members Mila and another girl, adds to the positive experience. Good if you want an easy quick inexpensive chinese take-out style food. It's not a luxury place, but nothing is really wrong or bad with Chowking. The price is good, and the food is easy to eat. I stop here a few times if I have something to do around here.
Love the service! Mila and one of the girls are so welcoming. Great great food and good quality
I just had this and ordered around 5:30pm. First of all they got my order wrong, i ordered a 2 entree and then they told me I had to get chicken wings and one entree with the rice and noodles. So you can't actually choose 2 entrees like Panda Express for example. They have on their menu that the entrees come with "More Meat", but as the picture shows they are very small on portions. You can get more at Panda Express. The flavor was okay, they mixed my seeet and sour pork for honey walnut shrimp. The size of the shrimp is small compared to Panda Expresses. The Chowmein is actually my favorite thing from it all, it jas good flavor and texture. The popcorn chicken is horrendous. Its chewy and you dont know when you're eating the chicken or the fried batter. The black jelly drink was interesting, but overall. NOT REMOTELY IMPRESSED.
Food is about what you'd expect, quick and relatively average priced Chinese food. While nothing is special, nothing was bad. I don't know if I'd recommend someone to here but I wouldn't be against it either. They do open quite early though so that is a big plus.
Beef wonton soup is actually flavored like beef pho, not like Chinese wonton soup, though the beef was prepared the way it would be for Chinese beef noodle soup. Once I adjusted my expectations, it turned out to be pretty good. Lumpiang shanghai tastes quite meaty; needed a little toning down with the dipping sauce. Taho uses regular soft tofu, not extra soft; brown sugar syrup is overwhelmingly sweet. Halo halo is worth the price; was told by my companion that it very closely resembles how it's served in their dad's hometown (just need to remove the sago).
