About Chow's
Chow's is a Chinese restaurant situated at 3033 N May Ave in Oklahoma City, OK 73107. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Chow's aims to provide local users with a variety of Chinese dishes. They can be contacted at (405) 949-1663 or +1 405-949-1663 for inquiries about their menu and services. However, recent customer reviews present a mixed picture of the dining experience at Chow's, particularly concerning the consistency and quality of their food.
One reviewer noted that the restaurant appeared clean and the staff were polite, which are positive aspects regarding the environment and service. Another review mentioned that the restaurant had a "full house," suggesting that it can be a popular spot. However, specific details about the overall ambiance and decor are not provided in these comments. Potential customers interested in dining in may want to visit the location to form their own impression or inquire directly about the dining area.
Based on the reviews, Chow's likely offers both dine-in and takeout services. One customer mentioned waiting for their food to be freshly made, implying a takeout order. Another reviewer dined in and ordered multiple dishes. To confirm if Chow's offers delivery services, either directly or through third-party platforms, it would be best to contact them using the provided phone numbers. Information about their operating hours and any specific service protocols can also be obtained through direct communication.
The features of Chow's food, as described by recent customers, vary significantly. One reviewer had a disappointing experience with several classic dishes. They found the General Tso's chicken to be bland and soggy, lacking its signature flavors and crunch, and tasting predominantly of bell pepper. The sweet and sour chicken was described as having a crispy exterior but suffering from an extremely watered-down and flavorless sauce. Similarly, the beef lo mein was deemed bland, tasting only of plain noodles without noticeable sauce or seasoning. This customer, who spent over $45, felt it was a waste of money and time and would not recommend or return to the restaurant.
In contrast, another reviewer had a much more positive initial experience, prompted by a feeling that the restaurant "screamed good food." They enjoyed the combination fried rice and crispy quail, while their sister enjoyed the sesame chicken. This positive review, coupled with the observation of a full house, suggested a potentially good dining experience at the time.
However, a subsequent update from the same initially positive reviewer painted a drastically different picture. This later experience, just weeks after the first review (January 25th, 2025), was extremely negative. The reviewer felt they had wasted over $32, describing the fried rice as tasting like "soaked rice" and the salt and pepper shrimp as having "blood flowing in it," making it inedible and causing nausea. This stark change in food quality led the reviewer to vow never to return and to express disappointment after having recommended the restaurant to several people previously. This update strongly suggests a significant issue with food quality and consistency, potentially indicating a change in kitchen staff or practices.
Given the drastic shift in the later review, it is difficult to definitively highlight positive features of Chow's food. While there was an initial positive impression of some dishes like the combination fried rice and crispy quail, the subsequent experience with poorly prepared fried rice and undercooked shrimp raises serious concerns about food quality control and consistency. The negative feedback on classic dishes like General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and beef lo mein further compounds these concerns.
No specific promotional information for Chow's is mentioned in the provided reviews. Restaurants often offer various promotions to attract customers. To learn about any current specials or discounts at Chow's, local users should contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be posted. Given the recent negative review citing a significant drop in food quality, it would be prudent to inquire about the current kitchen staff or any changes in management that might affect the dining experience.
In conclusion, the customer reviews for Chow's at 3033 N May Ave in Oklahoma City present a concerning lack of consistency. While one initial experience was positive, a later review from the same customer detailed severely poor food quality, including undercooked seafood and poorly prepared rice, leading to a strong negative recommendation. Additionally, another reviewer found several standard dishes to be bland and disappointing. While the restaurant may have polite staff and a clean environment, the significant issues raised regarding food quality and consistency should give potential customers pause. Local users considering Chow's should be aware of these recent negative experiences and may want to seek more up-to-date reviews or contact the restaurant directly to inquire about the current state of their food preparation before deciding to dine in or order from them.

I’ve lived in several states and tried General Tso’s chicken in many places, but unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. The dish lacked the signature sweet, spicy, and rich flavor—it was surprisingly bland and soggy, despite me waiting for the food to be freshly made. It tasted mostly of bell pepper and had no crunch or depth. The sweet and sour chicken had a crispy exterior, but the sauce was extremely watered down and lacked any real flavor. Similarly, the beef lo mein was bland, tasting only of plain noodles with no noticeable sauce or seasoning. I spent over $45 here, and sadly, it felt like a waste of both money and time. The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite, which I appreciate, but unfortunately, the food just didn’t meet expectations. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to others.
So I drove past this restaurant and something about it screamed good food lol. Told my sis about it and we were there. Combination fried rice we both had, sis had sesame chicken, I had crispy quail and lemonade. Now when I tell ya the food is good, it is GOOD. And they had a full house. You should try it. *Update January 25th 2025* I think they changed their chef or he/she is on vacation. I just wasted $32 and some cents. Fried rice tastes like soaked rice. Salt and pepper shrimps still has blood flowing in it. I could not bring myself to eating it. This food is a mess. I will NEVER come here again. I am so nauseated right now.👎👎👎I have brought over seven persons here on different occasions and up until today, I still preached about this place only to be served this! I hope you guys do better really💔
I grow up eating tons of Chinese food and this is some Authentic Chinese food. One of my top favorite Chinese restaurant in Oklahoma City. Ordered the beef satay sauce clay pot dish and it has a hint of spice. They open everyday except Tuesday.
Update 4 years later: Chows is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Their salty fish fried rice is one of the best fried rice dish I've ever had here in OKC. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. Perfect for family style eating.
I didn’t love the food that was served and I’ve attached some pictures for reference. I. Sure some of their food is awesome just not what I got.
