About Chop Suey Kitchen
Welcome to Chop Suey Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant located at 5353 W Madison St in Chicago. While the exterior appearance might not be particularly inviting, some customers suggest that the food itself is delicious and worth trying.
One reviewer mentioned that all the food is made fresh, which may result in a short wait time for orders. They advise calling in advance or being prepared to wait a little, emphasizing that the quality of the food makes it worthwhile.
However, not all recent experiences have been positive. A long-time customer decided to give Chop Suey Kitchen another chance after a previous negative experience, hoping it was due to a different cook. Unfortunately, they reported receiving spicy shrimp fried rice that was burned and contained large chunks of onions. This negative experience led them to conclude their patronage of the establishment, suggesting a significant decline in quality.
Based on these reviews, Chop Suey Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant where freshness is a noted feature, potentially leading to delicious food. However, recent experiences indicate inconsistencies in food preparation, with one customer reporting a severely unsatisfactory dish. Information regarding the restaurant's environment beyond its uninviting exterior, specific services like dine-in or takeout, and any current promotional offers is not detailed in these reviews. For more information, you can contact Chop Suey Kitchen at (773) 379-0311 or +1 773-379-0311.

It doesn't look inviting but the food is delicious 😋you will not be disappointed. All the food is made fresh so call in or be prepared to wait a little but it's worth it.
This used to be my go to spot for Chinese food, I decided to give it one last shot hoping it was the last cook that made me want to discontinue spending my coins here. But, oh no, it’s this establishment! I had ordered a spicy shrimp fried rice not burned rice with huge chunks onions in it! So, um, yea, I’m done with this place. They minus well close down bc they done fell off 🚮
The fried rice is good. No place to sit and eat which is a bummer. I understand since you can't find too many sit down restaurants in the area. The hot sauce was excellent 👍
Last night the food was not good! I have been a very satisfied customer for over 30 years! The old cook David was very nice. Last night I got food that I couldn’t believe was from chop Suey Kitchen! Then to make it worse, I called to tell them and the lady on the phone said that I was not telling the truth and said the manager was not there. Refused to tell me her name or the managers name. She eventually told me she was busy and hung up on me! 30 years of satisfaction down the drain!
This place has been here for over 20 plus years. Used to be the only Chinese restaurant I would go to and I have been going here since I was a teenager. I am now in my 40s. However, recently new management took over and it's sad to say but the food is not the same. I would usually get chicken egg foo young, fried rice, pepper steak or Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef is still good, but the beef is suspect as it is too tender. The dishes have fell off. Previously the fried rice was fresh and you can tell fresh ingredients were in it. Now that doesn't seem to be the case. The fried rice taste like it is leftover from a previous day and they add too much soy sauce when cooking it. The lady taking the orders is not all that friendly and has a slight attitude when you ask her a question. The previous owners were not like this. The prices have gone up. Who pays $2.80 extra to add brocolli to fried rice. That is highway robbery. You can get two eggrolls for that price. In addition, they charge .8 cents per pack for soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce. It used to be 5 cent. I didn't used to come here often since I stay on the other side of town, but now I won't be rushing to come out here at all. Worst thing is I am allergic to shellfish and when I got my chicken fried rice the other day there was a piece of shrimp in it. Luckily, I noticed it before eating, but this should never happen. I called and the lady of course had a slight attitude and didn't believe me. I had to drive back up there to show her. That was the last straw. I have never experienced this before of all the years coming here. I literally could have died because of how severe my allergy is, but thankfully I didn't so I can tell my story to people to not go here.
