About Chong Qing Noodles House
Welcome to Chong Qing Noodles House, a hidden gem nestled in Alameda, California, at 1635 Park St. As a dedicated Chinese restaurant, Chong Qing Noodles House specializes in bringing the bold and distinctive flavors of Sichuan cuisine to the local community. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance are limited, customer reviews hint at a warm and inviting atmosphere, largely attributed to the personable owner, Monica.
At Chong Qing Noodles House, the emphasis is clearly on the freshness and quality of their food. According to one enthusiastic patron, the noodles and dumplings are all handmade, and it appears that a significant portion of their offerings is prepared from scratch. This commitment to traditional methods suggests a dedication to authentic flavors and textures that sets them apart. The owner's background in the restaurant business further reinforces this notion of culinary expertise and a passion for delivering genuine Chinese dishes.
The service at Chong Qing Noodles House seems to be a highlight for many visitors. One reviewer specifically mentioned the owner, Monica, as being "warm and personable." Her willingness to offer a taste of dishes like the cucumber salad and beef, and even customize orders to accommodate preferences for spice levels, indicates a strong focus on customer satisfaction. This personalized touch can create a welcoming and memorable dining experience, fostering a sense of connection between the restaurant and its patrons.
While the restaurant's name clearly points to noodles as a specialty, the menu appears to offer a variety of Sichuan-inspired dishes. One customer sampled the Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles and Fried Tofu. The reviewer noted the excellent texture of the handmade noodles as a significant positive aspect of the soup. However, they also mentioned that the broth lacked a strong flavor and was quite salty, with a noticeable amount of sesame oil. This suggests that while some dishes may be a hit, others might have areas for improvement or may cater to specific palates.
The Fried Tofu was described as having a generous portion size, with a lot of tofu in each piece. However, it was noted as being quite plain in flavor, despite the presence of a sweet soy oil at the bottom of the plate. The reviewer felt that the sauce did not integrate well with the fried tofu. This feedback provides valuable insight into the potential inconsistencies in seasoning across different menu items.
It's worth noting that the grill was not operational during one customer's early dinner visit, preventing them from trying the skewers. This suggests that certain menu items might only be available during specific hours or may be subject to equipment availability. It's always a good idea to inquire about the full menu and availability when planning a visit.
Based on the limited number of reviews available, Chong Qing Noodles House seems to be a restaurant with potential. The commitment to handmade noodles and fresh ingredients is a significant draw, and the warm hospitality of the owner appears to create a positive dining atmosphere. However, some dishes may require further refinement in terms of flavor balance and seasoning. The overall rating of 6/10 from one reviewer indicates a slightly above-average experience, with room for improvement to reach its full potential as a "hidden gem."

A hidden GEM! The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful - all hand made noodles, dumplings - everything from scratch. The owner Monica let me try her delicious cucumber salad and beef. She was so warm and personable, her family has been in the restaurant business for years. I’m surprised this place isn’t constantly packed. She even customized my soup to make it spicy 🥹🫶🏼 I found a new staple spot and will be bringing my family here!
Overall 6/10 (where 5 is average and 10 is the best meal I've ever had) I got the Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles and a Fried Tofu. Unfortunately the grill wasn't on for skewers (I dined early before dinner rush). Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles - Broth wasn't that flavorful and looked and tasted a little like boiled dumpling water (which isn't necessarily bad). There was a lot of sesame oil and was too salty - Noodle texture was the saving quality. Great chew. Fried Tofu - There was a lot of tofu in each piece which was great. - It wasn't seasoned well. Quite plain; there was a sort of sweet soy oil at the bottom of the plate but being that it's fried tofu, it wasn't a great mix.
Their beef noodle soup with the hand made noodles is delicious. I happy I finally tried this place and it’s so close to me. The wonton in chili oil is also delicious. The food is fantastic.
This place is absolutely delicious, waitress gave us recommendations and told us what was good, and she was completely right. The Taiwanese braised beef noodle soup had extremely tender beef and was absolutely delicious. The star of the show was definitely the noodles though, they were fresh and chewy. Absolutely delicious
The service was unmatched. The staff was so kind. They saw us with our little one and offered us a little bowl of dumplings on the side. The quality of the Taiwan beef noodles was flavorful and packed with a beautiful balance of noodles and meat. It was a tad bit oily but its nothing unexpected. Their spicy wontons were also really tasty, especially with the vinegar and chili. Overall, the quality and portions were respectable.
