About Chong Qing Cuisine
Welcome to Chong Qing Cuisine, a Chinese restaurant located at 1738 S King St #101 in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a specialized establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Chong Qing Cuisine focuses on delivering the authentic flavors of Chongqing and Szechuan-style noodles. Based on customer reviews, this restaurant is a notable find for those seeking genuine regional Chinese cuisine, offering a variety of noodle dishes and marinated specialties. While the majority of feedback is highly positive, highlighting the authenticity and taste, one review noted an issue with excessive saltiness, suggesting potential variability in the cooking.
Environment:
One reviewer described the sitting area and ambiance of Chong Qing Cuisine as reminiscent of "tiny noodle shops in China, but much cleaner." This suggests a casual and authentic atmosphere, prioritizing functionality and cleanliness over elaborate decor. The comparison to noodle shops in China implies a focus on the food and a no-frills setting that transports diners to a more traditional Chinese dining experience. The small size indicated by "tiny noodle shops" might suggest a cozy and intimate space. While not explicitly detailed, the environment seems to contribute to the overall authenticity of the dining experience, making it appealing to those seeking a genuine taste of Chongqing and Szechuan flavors in a setting that echoes their origins.
Services:
Chong Qing Cuisine primarily operates as a noodle shop, with a focus on serving freshly prepared noodle dishes. The service has been described as "friendly and attentive" by one reviewer, indicating a positive interaction with the staff. This suggests that while the ambiance might be simple, the customer service is a priority. The restaurant appears to cater to both those familiar with Chongqing and Szechuan cuisine and newcomers, with the chef offering recommendations, such as the pork intestine noodles. The ability to customize the spiciness level of the noodle dishes is a significant service feature, catering to a wider range of palates compared to traditional Chongqing cuisine, which is known for its intense spiciness. This flexibility enhances the dining experience for those who prefer milder flavors while still wanting to enjoy authentic Chongqing-style noodles. Takeout options are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, but as a noodle shop, it is likely that they offer this service for customers who prefer to enjoy their meals off-site. To confirm the availability of takeout or delivery, it is best to contact the restaurant directly.
Features:
The primary feature of Chong Qing Cuisine is its specialization in authentic Chongqing and Szechuan-style noodles. The menu appears to be centered around noodle dishes, with one reviewer noting that you can "only find noodles in the menu and marinated duck parts, including the all-time favorite duck necks." This specialization allows the restaurant to focus on the quality and authenticity of these particular dishes. The "house rice noodle" is recommended as a tasty option for those unsure of what to order, indicating a signature dish that is well-received. Another highly praised dish is the "green pepper with pork dry noodle," which one reviewer found to be "excellent," comparing it favorably to the best they had in California and highlighting the perfectly cooked noodles and the "on point" flavor of the green pepper and pork. The ability to "pick your own spiciness level" is a significant feature that sets Chong Qing Cuisine apart from traditional Chongqing eateries, making its cuisine more accessible to a broader audience.
The chef's recommendation of the "pork intestine noodles" suggests another specialty worth trying, indicating a willingness to guide customers through the menu and highlight unique offerings. The marinated duck parts, particularly the "duck necks," are another distinct feature, appealing to those who enjoy these types of traditional Chinese delicacies. However, one reviewer did note that the food was "very salty," serving as a warning about potential inconsistencies in seasoning. While this was described as a possible "off day," it is an important piece of feedback for potential customers to consider, especially those who are sensitive to salt.
Despite the comment about saltiness, the overall impression from the reviews is that Chong Qing Cuisine offers a genuine taste of Chongqing and Szechuan noodles, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. The ability to customize spiciness and the presence of unique items like marinated duck necks make it a noteworthy destination for those seeking a departure from more generic Chinese-American fare.
Promotional Information:
The provided customer reviews do not explicitly mention any ongoing promotions, special offers, or discounts at Chong Qing Cuisine. However, the positive feedback regarding the authenticity and taste of the food, coupled with the friendly and attentive service, can be seen as strong implicit promotion. The recommendation of specific dishes like the house rice noodle and the green pepper with pork dry noodle also serves to highlight popular and well-received items on the menu. To inquire about any current promotions, daily specials, or new additions to the menu, it is recommended to contact Chong Qing Cuisine directly at (808) 741-2297 or +1 808-741-2297. Local users might also want to check if the restaurant has a social media presence or online ordering platform where promotions or special deals might be advertised. In conclusion, Chong Qing Cuisine offers a unique and authentic taste of Chongqing and Szechuan-style noodles in Honolulu. With a casual, China-inspired ambiance, friendly service, and the ability to customize spiciness levels, it caters to both connoisseurs of this regional cuisine and those new to its bold flavors. This is a real gem for those who like decent Chongqing styled noodles. The house rice noodle is very tasty if you don’t know what yo order. I tried its green pepper with pork dry noodle and it was excellent. It’s just as good if not better than the best ones I had back in California. The noodles were cooked just right and the flavor of the green pepper and pork was on point. The only minor issues were that there were a bit too much pork and the strips are a bit too big. The best part, you can pick your own spiciness level, unlike in Chongqing where there’s only one level of spiciness: burning spicy. The chef recommended the pork intestine noodles, which I will definitely try on my next visit. The service was friendly and attentive. The sitting area and its ambience reminded me of tiny noodle shops in China, but much cleaner. Highly recommended.
Delicious chongqing / Szechuan style noodle shop. You can only find noodles in the menu and marinated duck parts, including the all time favorite duck necks. The food was - warning - very salty. Not sure if we caught it on an off day but we had to water our noodles down. We usually eat on the saltier side.
Surprisingly really good coming from living near San Gabriel Valley, CA. Very generous portions with lots of flavor. The seating was pretty limited but I'd definitely go back if I was craving noodles. The price was also very reasonable.
Order by app. Space is small, like a neighborhood vibe. Service is friendly and accommodating. Order these and thank me later: 1. Dry Double Cooked Pork (flat noodles or rice) 2. Wu Wei Spicy Beef Noodle (the beef!) 3. Booed Fish with Pickled Cabbage (broth) 4. Shredded Pork Green Pepper 5. Any noodle soup
Very good taste with flexible ingredient and not too much MSG. Highly recommend. However, don’t think it’s worth waiting for more than 30min. It’s a super small Shop. Their waiting system is something to be desired - an online waiting room would be super helpful.
