When considering Chong Garden, it is essential to take into account recent feedback from customers who have experienced their offerings. These reviews provide firsthand accounts that can help local users form an objective opinion about the restaurant's current quality and service.
One customer who ordered $50 worth of takeout reported significant issues with the quality of several dishes. According to this review, the General Tso's chicken was described as cold, chewy, and not tasting as expected, lacking spiciness and having soggy breading. The "Hibachi chicken and shrimp" was said to resemble microwaved food and was accompanied by a "clearish-brown mystery liquid." The Hong Kong roll, priced at $15, was described as a small piece of tempura shrimp wrapped in a large amount of white rice and topped with spicy crab, leading the reviewer to believe it was overpriced for the cost of ingredients. Additionally, the fried rice, for which an extra charge was incurred, was reported to be undercooked and unlike any fried rice the reviewer had experienced elsewhere. This overall negative experience led the customer to conclude that the restaurant was not worth the effort to visit.
Another concerning review shared a personal experience of suspected food poisoning after eating at Chong Garden. This former regular customer mentioned purchasing Chinese food for their daughter for the first time, who fortunately stopped eating after a few bites. The reviewer explicitly stated they do not use soy sauce and included a photograph of the chicken's color as it was received. This experience led to a strong vow never to eat at the restaurant again.
Based on these recent customer reviews, there appear to be significant concerns regarding the food quality, preparation, and potentially food safety at Chong Garden. The issues raised include cold and poorly textured chicken, questionable appearance of dishes, potential misrepresentation of menu items, and instances of suspected foodborne illness.
Information regarding the environment and services of Chong Garden is limited in the provided reviews. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the quality of the takeout food. Therefore, details about the dine-in ambiance, customer service beyond order fulfillment, or the general atmosphere of the restaurant cannot be reliably inferred from the given information.
Similarly, no promotional information or special offers were mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Local users interested in any potential discounts, combo deals, or family specials would need to inquire directly with the restaurant.
Given the serious nature of the issues highlighted in the recent customer feedback, including concerns about food quality and a reported case of food poisoning, local users should exercise caution when considering Chong Garden. The negative experiences shared by these reviewers suggest potential inconsistencies or issues in the restaurant's food handling and preparation processes.
As an objective introduction based solely on the provided information, it is important to highlight the critical feedback received from recent customers. While past experiences might have been different, the current reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the quality and safety of the food. Potential customers may want to consider these recent experiences before deciding to order from Chong Garden.
Without additional information or more positive recent feedback, it is challenging to provide a balanced introduction. The available data strongly suggests that there are significant issues that local users should be aware of. It would be prudent for individuals considering Chong Garden to seek more up-to-date reviews from various sources to get a broader perspective or to consider other Chinese restaurant options in the Louisville area.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Chong Garden in Louisville raise serious concerns about the quality and safety of their food, particularly for takeout orders. Issues such as poorly prepared chicken, questionable dishes, overpriced items, and a reported case of food poisoning warrant careful consideration by local users when choosing a Chinese restaurant.

Got $50 worth of takeout. General Tsos chicken is cold, chewy, doesnt taste like General Tso. Its not spicy, breading is soggy. “Hibachi chicken and shrimp” looks like it came out of the microwave and has some clearish-brown mystery liquid on it. I ordered a Hong Kong roll. Its a tiny piece of tempura shrimp wrapped in about 2” solid of white rice, topped with spicy crab. $15 roll with about $0.50 cents worth of ingredients. The fried rice i had to pay extra for is not done all the way, and tastes nothing like fried rice Ive had anywhere else in my life. This place aint worth the effort it takes to open their door.
I used to eat here all the time... For the first time ever I bought my daughter Chinese food when I got mine. Luckily she stopped eating after a couple bites... I got food poisoning!!! I do not use soy sauce... The color of this chicken is literally how it came... Will never eat there again!!!
Food was really good, large size portions with plenty of flavor. They have fountain, canned and bottle drinks. Takes a little extra time to cook the war su gai but it was worth the weight. There are only a few tables for dining in, most of their business comes from carryout.
The sesame chicken combo is amazing because they fry with veggies and add them to the combination. Even though I don’t eat the veggies, it gives the sesame chicken a lot of favor. The rice is a little crunchy but the egg rolls are the best eggs I’ve tasted in Louisville, KY so far. They also cook the meal after you place the order so it’s really hot and tastes fresh. Two visits and Imma take my mom so I recommend it even though I miss Chicago’s beef fried rice.
Absolutely worst customer service I've ever had at a restaurant. Had to make 3 trips there after they left food out, had steel wool in some n food was terrible. $50 wasted! Then they only wanted to replace the pepper steak n not the rice. How am I gonna eat it without rice? didn't get to eat it the night it was ordered because steel wool n not today either because wouldn't replace rice. Also wouldn't give me receipt back or steel wool. All of which I had in a baggie for when I did come to get replaced. Called them twice night of order as well. I'd suggest this place closes.
