About Chinese Trendy Food 味府

Welcome to Chinese Trendy Food 味府, a Chinese restaurant located at 3201 S Hoover St #1870 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Situated in what appears to be a college town area, this Chinese Restaurant offers a modern dining experience. You can contact them at (213) 536-5161 or via mobile at +1 213-536-5161.

The restaurant has a notable feature of being a strictly QR code-based establishment, meaning there are no physical menus, and orders must be placed via mobile devices. This might be inconvenient for those who are not tech-savvy, particularly older individuals. Additionally, the TVs in the restaurant display random channels rather than relevant information.

The ambiance of Chinese Trendy Food 味府 is described as clean and somewhat upscale, typical of a storefront in a college town. The cultural decorations contribute to a pleasing aesthetic. The service is reported to be surprisingly fast, almost suspiciously so, leading one reviewer to speculate that the food might simply be reheated.

Regarding the food itself, one non-Chinese reviewer found the pork combo rice dishes to be very spicy. Another customer who ordered the Kung Pao chicken with rice noted that while it was supposed to be spicy, it was also unexpectedly sweet, making it difficult to fully enjoy. While the authenticity of the food could not be confirmed by one reviewer, they questioned its importance if the taste was not appealing. On a more positive note, the service, prices, and atmosphere were generally considered good by one diner, despite their disappointment with the Kung Pao chicken.

If you are in the vicinity of the University of Southern California and are comfortable with a QR code-only ordering system, Chinese Trendy Food 味府 offers a clean and culturally decorated environment with fast service. However, be aware that some dishes, such as the pork combo rice and Kung Pao chicken, have been noted for their significant spiciness or unusual flavor combinations. It might be wise to inquire about the spice level and flavor profiles before ordering.

First and foremost, this is a QR restaurant so not only they don't have a physical menu, their TVs don't even showcase anything worthwhile but random channels. Extremely inconvenient should you have someone older in your party who is not tech savvy. This place looks clean and high scale, typical for a college town storefront, and it looks pleasing enough with its cultural decoration. As I have said before, being a strictly QR code restaurant means the employees will not take verbal order of any kind, and must be done via mobile. I know this is a tactic to save on labor, but I get it. The food are served surprisingly fast, to the point of *too fast*. It definitely feels like they were just heating it up. I can not confirm how authentic the food was for not being Chinese, but the pork combo rice dishes were very spicy 🥵 🌶️ for our palettes. Forget the authenticity because does it matter if they don't taste good in the first place?

Nice place on campus. Didn’t exactly love the food though. Service, prices and atmosphere was good. I ordered a Kung pao chicken with rice. It was supposed to be spicy but was super sweet while also being spicy. I couldnt really relish it.

The service is fast. The menu is QR code generated. The food could a little more flavor. The portion per serving I think is filling. This restaurant has men’s and women’s bathroom. This a clean restaurant. Mainly student of USC and resident of the area are the guess of this restaurant. There is a membership rewards for those who frequent the restaurant. The decor is the traditional Chinese restaurant. Four large TVs with sports and news. They do play pop American music. Reservation is available.

I am on a mission to try every semi-recommended food item near USC and Chinese Trendy Food was my latest victim. The popcorn chicken was not very crunchy, but if you want popcorn chicken near campus you don’t have that many options to begin with. It was outrageously expensive — came out to over $15 after tax. I probably wouldn’t come to get it again. The lady behind the counter was friendly though!
