About Chinese Garden Restaurant
Welcome to Chinese Garden Restaurant, a cherished establishment located at 1646 E 17th St in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As a prominent member of the Chinese Restaurant category in our local area, Chinese Garden Restaurant has garnered a reputation for providing delectable feasts that offer a remarkable balance of quality and affordability. According to patrons who have graced its tables, the experience is consistently enchanting, making it a noteworthy destination for those seeking authentic Asian gastronomy.
The ambiance of Chinese Garden Restaurant is frequently described as more akin to a pleasant reverie than a typical diner. The cleanliness of the establishment is consistently highlighted, with one reviewer noting its pristine condition, suggesting an environment where attention to detail is paramount. Complementing this cleanliness is a decor that evokes a quintessential nostalgic vibe, creating a charming backdrop for an enjoyable evening immersed in the flavors of Asia. The overall atmosphere aims to transport diners to a comfortable and inviting space, enhancing the dining experience.
Service at Chinese Garden Restaurant is often characterized by its swiftness and attentiveness. The employees are noted for their eagerness to assist patrons, reflecting a commitment to professional hospitality. This efficiency ensures that diners can enjoy their meals without unnecessary delays, whether they are dining in or picking up a takeout order. However, it's worth noting that the restaurant tends to be a bustling hub, particularly for takeout and quick pickups, which might contribute to a slightly less serene atmosphere for those dining in, as sit-in clientele is sometimes observed to be less numerous.
Regarding the facilities, specifically the restrooms, they are described as tidy and well-maintained, albeit compact, similar in size to those found on a smaller aircraft. While neat and clean, they might feel a bit snug. This is a minor point in the overall experience but worth noting for those who appreciate more spacious facilities.
A significant feature of Chinese Garden Restaurant, as mentioned by a seasoned patron, is the potential access to a "special menu" for those who can speak a little Chinese. This intriguing aspect suggests a deeper level of culinary offerings that might be available to those who can communicate in the language, adding an element of exclusivity and perhaps showcasing more authentic or less commonly known dishes. This could be a unique draw for members of the local community familiar with the language or those interested in exploring a broader range of Chinese cuisine.
The affordability of the dishes served at Chinese Garden Restaurant is consistently praised, with reviewers noting the astonishingly remarkable ratio of grandeur to expenditure. This makes it an attractive option for individuals and families looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. The generous portions and quality of the food, combined with reasonable prices, contribute significantly to the restaurant's positive reputation within the local community.
While the vast majority of experiences at Chinese Garden Restaurant are positive, one reviewer shared a cautionary tale involving a family member who experienced credit card theft after a visit. While explicitly stating that there was no direct accusation against the genial staff, the reviewer noted that the restaurant was the only location visited where such an incident could have occurred. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in any public setting. However, it's crucial to consider this as an isolated incident and not necessarily reflective of the restaurant's general practices or the integrity of its staff.
Despite this isolated concern, the overall sentiment towards Chinese Garden Restaurant remains overwhelmingly positive, with one reviewer proclaiming it the "Best Chinese food in town." This strong endorsement speaks volumes about the quality and taste of the cuisine offered. The combination of delicious and affordable food, a clean and nostalgic ambiance, and generally swift and attentive service makes Chinese Garden Restaurant a compelling choice for local diners in Idaho Falls.

Customer Reviews
Ah, dear patrons of the culinary arts, allow me to regale you with a tale most delightful—this marks my second illustrious sojourn to the very establishment that is this charming eatery. Verily, we find ourselves consistently enamored with the delectable feasts presented before us, a veritable cornucopia of gastronomic delights that dazzle both palate and purse alike, for the ratio of grandeur to expenditure is quite simply, astonishingly remarkable! The ambiance here is less of a dreary diner and more akin to a reverie, resplendent with a cleanliness so pristine, it could likely host the Queen’s tea party, paired with decor that would make even the most fastidious of interior designers swoon. Furthermore, the service—oh, the service!—is as swift as a caffeinated gazelle, with employees who are eager and attentive, a true testament to professional hospitality. However, one must note that the establishment tends to resemble a bustling hive of activity, buzzing with patrons clamoring for either tantalizing takeout or hastily orchestrated pickups, whilst the sit-in clientele is rather scarce, like a rare Pokémon. Now, when it comes to the necessary lavatories, they are, in all their tidy glory, akin to a diminutive airliner’s cubicle space—neat as a pin yet snugger than a bug in a rug! The tables glisten, the floors sparkle, and the overall ambiance encapsulates that quintessential nostalgic vibe one desires for an enchanting evening immersed in the splendors of Asian gastronomy. My recommendations are as hearty as the dishes served, with one minor caveat that has bestowed upon the service a mere trio of stars: A mishap involving a family member who, alas! Found herself the unwitting victim of nefarious card theft, resulting in a rather unfortunate fraudulent escapade the very next morn, despite the card being as fresh as morning dew. I am not insinuating that any ne'er-do-wells lurked among the genial staff, but one cannot ignore the realities of our world—my dear acquaintance had traversed to no other locales where the treachery could have occurred. And thus our tale concludes, leaving a mélange of flavors and the faintest hint of caution in our wake.
Best Chinese food in town. If you can speak a little Chinese, you’ll get access to the special menu!
They have pan fried noodles, yay! Fried rice was good and I really enjoyed the soup. Friendly lady took my order. I’ll be back. Give this place a try if you are out and about.
Excited to find a great place near our new home for Chinese food! Awesome Wonton Hot and Sour Soup! Best we've found in Idaho Falls! The Moo Goo Gai Pan is delicious! Good size portions for lunch. Great service. Clean restaurant and restrooms. We will definitely be 'regulars'! Highly recommend!
The food was fresh and very good. I will give them that. The service was good. However, the price was high. I had the kung pao chicken lunch special. 14 bucks for a lunch special! Ya no, I won’t be back because of the price. There was hardly anyone there at lunch. Looks like they are pricing themselves out of business. I had to leave my coat on because it was cold in the restaurant. That is rare for me to do. I don’t get cold easy.
