This suggests a degree of convenience for customers who prefer to order remotely and collect their food.
Based on the available customer reviews, experiences appear to vary. One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their order, specifically mentioning the Mongolian beef and noodles. They described the Mongolian beef as being soup-like with an unusual greenish tint to the meat, suggesting it tasted microwaved. The noodles were described as flavorless and also seemingly microwaved. This reviewer also noted observing kitchen staff, described as appearing to be Mexican, utilizing a microwave for a significant number of dishes, which was a point of concern for them regarding the freshness and preparation methods.
On a more positive note, another customer highlighted the large portion size of a combination plate, specifically the General Tso's chicken. They found the chicken pieces to be large and crispy, with a good sauce, although it was noted as not being spicy despite ordering the regular version. The white rice was described as basic but good, not jasmine rice. The crab rangoon, filled with only sweet cream cheese, was placed in the same container as the hot food, causing them to soften, but they were still considered to taste very good. This reviewer also praised the great price for the amount of food received and found the online ordering process to be easy.
It's important to consider both positive and negative feedback when evaluating a restaurant. The contrasting experiences suggest that while Chinese Express may offer generous portions and convenient ordering, consistency in food quality and preparation methods might be an area for potential improvement. The reliance on microwaving some dishes, as observed by one reviewer, could be a concern for customers who prioritize freshly cooked meals.
For those considering ordering from Chinese Express, it might be beneficial to inquire about the preparation methods for specific dishes. If you have preferences regarding spice levels, it's advisable to clearly communicate these when placing your order. Additionally, if you plan to order items like crab rangoon, you might consider requesting they be packaged separately from hot dishes to maintain their texture.

⸻ I’ve lived in Clayton all my adult life and had never ordered from this place before. On Easter Sunday, there weren’t many dining options available, so I decided to give it a try and ordered a few items. The Mongolian beef was more like a soup, with an odd greenish tint meat and the meat tasted like it had been microwaved. The noodles were completely flavorless and also seemed to have been microwaved. By the time I drove home and opened the food—about half an hour later—it was still burning hot, which confirmed my suspicion.microwave I was surprised to see the cooks, who appeared to be Mexican, using the microwave for nearly every dish in restaurant . It’s disappointing to see even some Asian restaurants relying so heavily on the microwave. I was genuinely shocked.
Large portion of combination plate. Ordered to-go general two’s chicken. Large crispy chicken pieces, broccoli, good sauce but not spicy (ordered regular, it said spicy). White rice is basic good white rice, not jasmine. Crab ragoon only sweet cream cheese filling, placed in same container as food, causes them to get softer. Still tastes very good. Great price for portion of food! Placed order online. Easy.
chinese express is a no-frills spot for some good, greasy chinese food. we ordered the shrimp fried rice and beef egg foo yong. the portions were pretty generous given the price, and tasted very good too. the egg foo yong was well cooked and went superbly with the gravy and rice. the counter staff were polite and well spoken. i would order ahead so you can conveniently pick up your order when you arrive, as opposed to having to wait.
The chicken came uncoated, but it was so good. The fried rice was awesome, wish we got some veggies but overall, would come back!
No dine in tables inside, but there's 2 booths outside. We ordered inside and it was made hot and quick. Kinda pricey though especially for just a tofu dish with rice, but I enjoyed it. Lots of good veggie options.
