About Chinatown
Welcome to Chinatown Restaurant, a local Chinese restaurant situated at 129 Kelley Blvd in Millbrook, Alabama. For residents and visitors of Millbrook seeking a cost-effective option for Chinese cuisine, Chinatown Restaurant presents itself as a great place to enjoy a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. According to customer reviews, affordability is a significant draw, making it an attractive choice for those looking for value. The inclusion of a drink with their dinner combos further enhances the savings, providing a complete meal at a reasonable price.
While Chinatown Restaurant is praised for its affordability, customer experiences with the food quality vary depending on the dish. One reviewer shared their experience with the sesame chicken, noting that while the flavor was good, the chicken itself was tough and dry, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. This suggests that certain preparation methods or specific dishes might not consistently meet expectations in terms of texture. However, the same reviewer offered a positive recommendation for their stir-fried dishes, particularly highlighting the chicken and broccoli as "absolutely delicious." The rationale behind this recommendation is that stir-fried items are less likely to lose their plump and juicy texture, indicating that this cooking method might be a strength of the kitchen at Chinatown Restaurant.
Another customer enthusiastically reviewed the family dinner for three, which they ordered twice within a two-week period. This suggests a high level of satisfaction with this particular offering. The family dinner is described as potentially the "best value $$ in this town," providing a substantial amount of food for $28 after tax. This generous meal includes General Tso Chicken, Pepper Steak, and Sweet and Sour Chicken, all served with fried rice, along with Egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, six cream cheese wontons, and three egg rolls. The sheer quantity of food for the price point underscores the value aspect of Chinatown Restaurant. While the reviewer personally wasn't a fan of the sweet and sour chicken, they mentioned the possibility of swapping entrées for an additional charge, indicating some flexibility in accommodating preferences, although they did not personally explore this option.
Overall, this customer found the food to be good, even stating that it was some of the best Chinese takeout they had had in the past few years, especially in comparison to the often disappointing takeout experiences encountered while traveling. This positive assessment of the takeout quality suggests that Chinatown Restaurant is a reliable option for enjoying Chinese food at home. Their previous order included the House special Mei fun and chicken wings, though no specific details about these dishes were provided in the review.
Based on the available reviews, Chinatown Restaurant seems to excel in providing affordable Chinese food with generous portions, particularly through their combo meals and family dinner options. The inclusion of a drink with dinner combos is a notable feature that adds to the value. Stir-fried dishes, such as the chicken and broccoli, appear to be consistently well-received for their texture and flavor. However, there might be some variability in the preparation of other dishes, as highlighted by the experience with the sesame chicken.
Regarding the environment and services, the reviews primarily focus on the food and value. There is no specific mention of the restaurant's ambiance for dine-in customers. However, the positive comments about takeout suggest that they efficiently handle to-go orders. The availability of a phone number, (334) 285-5335, and a mobile phone number, +1 334-285-5335, indicates that customers can easily place orders for takeout or inquire about their menu and services. Whether they offer delivery services is not mentioned in the provided reviews, so local users may need to contact the restaurant directly to confirm this.
Features of Chinatown Restaurant, as gleaned from the reviews, include their focus on affordability, the inclusion of drinks with dinner combos, and the availability of family-sized meals offering significant value. Their menu includes a variety of popular Chinese dishes, with stir-fried options being particularly recommended. The mention of specific dishes like General Tso Chicken, Pepper Steak, Sweet and Sour Chicken, House special Mei fun, and chicken wings provides some insight into their offerings. The presence of classic soups like Egg drop and hot and sour, along with appetizers like cream cheese wontons and egg rolls in the family dinner, suggests a fairly standard American-Chinese menu with a range of familiar favorites.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Chinatown Restaurant based on the provided reviews. The value offered through their combo meals and family dinners could be considered an ongoing feature that attracts customers. Local users interested in any potential limited-time offers or specials may need to contact the restaurant directly or check local listings or social media platforms if the restaurant has a presence there.
In conclusion, Chinatown Restaurant in Millbrook, Alabama, stands out as an affordable option for those craving Chinese food. Their dinner combos with a free drink and the substantial family dinner for three offer excellent value for money. While some dishes, like the sesame chicken, might have texture inconsistencies, stir-fried options, particularly the chicken and broccoli, are highly recommended. The positive feedback on their takeout service also makes them a convenient choice for enjoying Chinese food at home. Local users looking for a budget-friendly Chinese meal with generous portions in Millbrook should consider giving Chinatown Restaurant a try, especially if they are interested in their combo deals or family dinner.

Customer Reviews
This restaurant is a great place to go if you want to get Chinese food and save money doing so. I also love how the drink comes with the dinner combos. However, the first time I went there, I ordered the sesame chicken. It tasted good, but it was tough and dry, which offset the flavor. Though I would definitely recommend ordering their chicken and broccoli (it's absolutely delicious) or anything else that is stir-fried, since they're less likely to lose their plump, juicy texture.
We have gotten food from here twice in the last 2 weeks. Tonight we ordered the family dinner for 3. This might be the best value $$ in this town. It comes with General Tso Chicken, Pepper Steak, Sweet and Sour Chicken (all with fried rice), Egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, 6 cream cheese wonton, 3 egg rolls for $28 after tax. It is a lot of food! I personally don't like sweet and sour chicken so I think you can swap the entrées for an up charge (but we didn't). Aside from that the food is good. Some of the best Chinese takeout we have had in the past few years. I travel for a living and have had a lot of bad Chinese takeout. Our previous order we tried the House special Mei fun and chicken wings.
I have came to this place for chinese my whole entire life, it’s actually my favorite place. Well i went there tonight, 2/22/2024 called in my order, and picked it up right before closing. I came back and was eating my food all was delicious and i was very happy until i bit into some noodles and found a tiny piece of metal!! It looks to be off of some sort of cleaning brush im not sure but I definitely recommend the cook employees at this restaurant double check all cooking supplies after cleaning for this reason, this piece of metal could have punctured my gums or cut my throat but luckily i felt it before anything bad happened. I still love this place and will probably go back i just hope this never happens again to me or anyone else
The food was awful. First time there and after two bites it went into the trash. My husband's sweet and sour shrimp the dough was raw! The hot and sour soup was greasy. Wouldn't have gone there if Panda Inn had not been closed. Wasted $20 and had to go get taco bell after trashing that hot mess...
Dine In Food was made quick, Hot, and Fresh.... Customer Service was Top Notch Inside was Clean and Food Preparers share a warm smile, and were Cheerful (did noticed as they Listened also as I made my order to the Cashier... Lastly; My food tasted Excellent...
