About Chinatown Kitchen

Welcome to Chinatown Kitchen, your local destination for a diverse range of Chinese cuisine in Teaneck, New Jersey. As a Chinese Restaurant, Chinatown Kitchen aims to provide a wide selection of dishes catering to various tastes and preferences. Located at 257 Degraw Ave, Teaneck, NJ 07666, USA, they can be contacted at (201) 530-7388 or via mobile at +1 201-530-7388.

Based on customer feedback, Chinatown Kitchen offers lunch specials that are perceived by some as fairly priced initially. However, some patrons have noted that the portion sizes of the main entree might appear smaller due to a significant amount of rice included, sometimes placed underneath the main dish. This could be a point to consider for those prioritizing the quantity of the main course.

The quality of certain dishes, particularly those featuring beef, seems to vary. Some customers have experienced the beef as being tough. Despite this, the restaurant has garnered positive remarks for its seasoning and sauces. The beef and string bean meal, despite the occasional issue with meat tenderness, has become a favorite for some. For those who prefer poultry, the chicken dishes have consistently received positive feedback from satisfied customers.

A standout dish frequently mentioned and highly recommended is the spicy Chinese eggplant, which has been a consistent source of enjoyment for many, including those who typically favor chicken over other proteins. This suggests that Chinatown Kitchen excels in preparing certain vegetable-based dishes with robust and appealing flavors.

In terms of service options, Chinatown Kitchen primarily focuses on takeout. Unlike some other Chinese establishments in the vicinity, they do not handle delivery orders directly. For customers seeking delivery, Chinatown Kitchen has partnered with UberEats and also utilizes a third-party delivery service accessible through their website. While one customer reported a successful delivery experience through the website's outsourced service, they also noted some inflexibility in the online ordering process. For instance, certain lunch special items may not be available as standalone entrees online, and customization requests might not be accommodated through the website. This has led some customers to opt for in-person pickup to make specific requests.

Regarding the physical location, Chinatown Kitchen has limited parking available directly in front of the restaurant. This has occasionally resulted in customers having to double park temporarily while picking up their orders, which might be a consideration for those driving to the location.

Pricing appears to be a significant point of contention for some customers. Feedback indicates that Chinatown Kitchen's prices are perceived as considerably higher compared to other restaurants in the Teaneck, Hackensack, and Bogota areas. One long-term former customer cited this as the primary reason for discontinuing their patronage several years ago, also mentioning negative experiences with the quality of the fried rice and the greasiness of other dishes at that time. This suggests that while some aspects of the food, such as the seasoning and certain specialty dishes, are well-received, the pricing strategy might be a deterrent for some budget-conscious diners in the local area.

In summary, Chinatown Kitchen offers a menu with some well-regarded dishes, particularly their spicy Chinese eggplant and, despite occasional toughness, their beef and string bean. Chicken dishes also seem to be a reliable choice. While they focus on takeout, delivery is available through third-party services like UberEats and their website. However, potential customers should be aware of the limited parking and the perception of higher prices compared to other local options. The online ordering system may also have some limitations regarding menu flexibility and special requests, potentially making pickup a preferred option for certain orders.

Lunch specials seem fairly priced, but the value is arguable because they sneak so much rice off to the side and even under your entree of choice, making it a pretty small serving in the end. I've also noticed that beef orders are touch and go, because the meat pieces tend to be rather tough. That said, I love the seasoning and saucing here. Tough meat aside, their beef and string bean meal has become one of my recent favorites. My husband raves about their spicy Chinese eggplant dishes, and he's been pretty happy about any chicken dish he's ordered. So many stick with chicken over other proteins? Unlike other Chinese takeout spots in the area, they don't take delivery orders. Delivery orders can be fulfilled either through UberEats or through their website, which seems to outsource orders to another delivery service. I've used the nameless delivery service once and got the order just fine, but the ordering process is somewhat inflexible (e.g. my husband's favorite order from the lunch special menu isn't available as a standalone entree and there's no way to make those requests through the website, so we had to do a pickup order just so we could ask a person to make it happen). There are very few parking spots out front, so we've often had to double park when picking up orders, with one person waiting in the car while the other runs in to pay.

Their prices are ridiculously high, much higher than any restaurant in the entire area of Teaneck, Hackensack and Bogota. Stopped coming here three years ago. Really nervy. The fried rice was horrible. The other good was greasy. I hope a new business opens there.

Ordered thru DoorDash. Beware, they think because it’s delivery that they can omit items and won’t get called out. Bad enough it cost 36 bucks, but to rip me off? Total trash

I normally don’t like to leave negative reviews but needed to warn others. I ordered take-out from here, and first off, it was not cheap. I’m not too picky of an eater, but the Jade Shrimp was honestly inedible. It was drowning in sauce, soggy, with bland vegetables, and I stopped eating after a few bites even though I was still so hungry. I started to feel nauseous after some time and judging by other people’s reviews, it seems that I’m not the only one. Unfortunately, the food is not good quality. Not worth ordering from.

Ordered takeout for me and my family, and everyone loved the food! They take great pride in the quality of their food and the cleanliness of their restaurant. One of the best family owned Chinese restaurants I have eaten at. Authentic and genuine. Will be returning often!
