About Chinatown Express

Chinatown Express is a Chinese restaurant located at 10201 N Oak Trafficway #600 in Kansas City, MO 64155, USA. Serving the local community within the Chinese Restaurant category, Chinatown Express can be contacted at (816) 734-9575 or +1 816-734-9575 for inquiries or orders. Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Chinatown Express appear to be varied, with both positive and negative aspects highlighted.

One first-time customer reported that the food was "really good" but noted a concern regarding the wait time. This suggests that while the culinary offerings may be satisfactory for some, the efficiency of service, particularly in terms of order preparation, could be an area for improvement. This customer also pointed out a notable feature of Chinatown Express: the absence of lunch specials, which is uncommon for many Chinese restaurants. Additionally, they mentioned that the cost might be around $20 per person, indicating a potentially higher price point compared to other similar establishments. Despite these points, this customer offered a recommendation, provided that one is willing to spend around the stated price per person and is not overly concerned about potential wait times.

In contrast, another customer shared a significantly negative experience. They decided to try Chinatown Express due to its proximity to their home. However, their initial impression upon entering the restaurant at lunchtime on a weekday was unfavorable, noting a "smelly restaurant" with no other customers and no phone orders being taken. Despite these warning signs, they proceeded with an order of sweet and sour chicken and four spring rolls for a total of $18.21. While they found one of the spring rolls to be "really good" on the drive home, their hopes for excellent food were quickly dashed upon arriving home. They described the chicken as "terrible" and "so dried out it was splintered." The sweet and sour sauce was criticized for being excessively sweet with "zero flavor" and lacking common ingredients such as pineapples, peppers, or onions. This customer concluded that while the spring rolls were good, they were not worth the overall price of the meal, and their experience with the sweet and sour chicken was a major disappointment.

Adding to the negative feedback, a third customer stated that they had experienced better food from a lunch buffet, implying a subpar quality at Chinatown Express. They also mentioned taking a picture of their order due to the small portion size and its plain presentation, further indicating dissatisfaction with their meal.

Considering these reviews, the environment of Chinatown Express is described by one customer as "smelly" and empty during lunchtime, which could be a deterrent for potential diners. The lack of customers and phone orders at a typical lunchtime may suggest a lack of popularity or potential issues that are discouraging patrons. However, it is important to note that this is based on a single observation.

The services at Chinatown Express appear to primarily include dine-in and takeout, as indicated by the customers' experiences. However, the reported long wait time for food preparation by one customer suggests that the efficiency of their service might be inconsistent. The interaction described by the second customer, who proceeded with their order despite an unsettling initial impression, does not provide specific insights into the quality of customer service beyond the food preparation itself.

In terms of features, one notable aspect is the absence of lunch specials, which is a common offering at many Chinese restaurants, particularly during weekday lunch hours. This could make Chinatown Express less appealing to those seeking more affordable midday options. The price point of around $20 per person, as mentioned by one customer, suggests that Chinatown Express might be positioned as a more premium or standard-priced establishment compared to budget-friendly alternatives.

No information regarding promotional offers or unique menu items is available from the provided reviews. Customers have focused on their experiences with specific dishes and the overall service and pricing structure.

In conclusion, Chinatown Express in Kansas City, Missouri, has received mixed feedback from the limited customer reviews available. While one customer found the food "really good" despite a long wait and higher price point, others reported significant dissatisfaction with the food quality, particularly the sweet and sour chicken, and noted concerns about the restaurant's environment and the absence of lunch specials. The varying experiences suggest that quality and service consistency might be issues to consider. Local users interested in trying Chinatown Express should be aware of the potential for longer wait times and a higher price range without the benefit of lunch specials. The negative feedback regarding food quality and the restaurant's atmosphere upon entry should also be taken into account. Without more comprehensive and positive reviews, potential customers might approach Chinatown Express with caution and perhaps consider recent feedback from other platforms to gain a broader perspective.

First time in. The food is really good but they need to work on the wait time. First chinese restaurant that I had seen that doesn't have lunch specials. Totally recommend it if you don't mind spending about $20 per person.

Decided to try, because it's really close to home. Walking into a smelly restaurant at 11:30 am lunchtime on a Weekday and seeing no customers and no phone ringing should've have been a warning. But I was hungry, tired, and already there. $18.21 for S&S Chicken and four Spring Rolls. I thought if it's good, it's worth it. Ate one spring roll on the drive home. It was really good, so I was hopeful for excellent food. Got food home. It was terrible, chicken so dried out it was splintered. Sweet and sour sauce so sweet, there was zero flavor. No pineapples, peppers, or onions like every other Chinese food place I've ever had. Just very, very dried chicken. The 4 spring rolls were really good but not worth price of $18.21. I've had better food off a lunch buffet. Took picture as soon as I got home, just because of the portion size, and how plain it was.

I’ve had all types of Chinese food, unfortunately this was more in the mid-range of tastings I’ve had. I like to order naked whole chicken wings with some form of fried rice along with an appetizer such as crab ragoons or egg rolls. In my opinion the food appeared to look good, as for the taste well…The chicken wings here were sectional, breaded wings, that were extra greasy. the fried rice had a slight after taste I can’t articulate into words at the moment. The crab rangoons however, where crisp, golden, and satisfying with taste and appearance . Probably wouldn’t go back unless I wanted a quick appetizer. The service was kind. 3.5 stars ⭐️

I enjoyed my food here a great deal. The server was very kind, and while the building is nothing to look at, the food was very yummy the portion sizes were big. One order of lo mein was enough for 2 meals for me. Will come back and try more!

I give this place an A+. The food was amazing. The beef was actually soft the only issue was I asked for spicy and didn't get it. First time I ate here though.
