About Chinatown Cafe

Welcome to Chinatown Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 2317 W University Dr #125 in Denton, Texas (TX 76201, USA). As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Chinatown Cafe aims to serve the local community with a variety of Chinese cuisine options, offering both dine-in and delivery services. Based on recent customer feedback available online, this introduction provides an objective overview of what potential diners can expect from this establishment, highlighting both positive and concerning aspects.

One customer shared a positive experience with Chinatown Cafe, having dined there in person multiple times and consistently finding the food "real yummy." Their recent experience with a DoorDash order was also highly favorable, as they were "amazed with the quantity and quality of the food." They specifically praised the lo mein and beef dishes for satisfying their craving and noted the generous portion size, stating they had "so much left over" and deemed it "definitely worth the purchase." This review highlights the potential for a satisfying meal with ample portions, whether dining in or ordering for delivery.

However, another reviewer provided a more critical perspective, mentioning that the food is "usually good (but very oily)." This indicates a potential consistency issue where the food might often be palatable but tends to be prepared with a significant amount of oil, which might not appeal to all customers. More concerningly, this reviewer recounted a disturbing incident where they "discovered a piece of flesh in my tofu meal," emphasizing that "every vegan’s nightmare is to accidentally bite into flesh." This is a serious issue that raises significant concerns about food preparation practices, cross-contamination risks, and the restaurant's attention to dietary restrictions. The reviewer, who identifies as vegan, found this experience deeply unsettling. Despite this severe issue, they did acknowledge that overall, Chinatown Cafe provides "a lot of food for the price," allowing them to get two meals out of one entree, and that the restaurant is "pretty consistent" in this regard, giving a thumbs-up emoji.

The contrasting reviews paint a picture of a restaurant that can offer tasty and generously portioned food, as highlighted by one customer's positive experiences with both dine-in and delivery. However, the other review points out significant drawbacks, namely the oiliness of the food and, most alarmingly, the presence of meat in a vegan dish. This incident suggests a serious lapse in kitchen oversight and could be a major concern for vegetarian and vegan customers, as well as those with strict dietary requirements or ethical considerations.

The reviews do not provide specific details about the environment or ambiance of Chinatown Cafe for dine-in customers, beyond the positive experience of one reviewer who ate there "in person a few times." There is no description of the decor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere of the dining area. Therefore, it is difficult to provide an objective assessment of the restaurant's environment based solely on this feedback.

In terms of services, Chinatown Cafe clearly offers both dine-in and delivery through platforms like DoorDash, catering to different customer preferences for convenience. The positive delivery experience suggests that their takeout packaging and food quality are maintained during transit. However, the incident with the tofu meal raises questions about the care taken in preparing and labeling orders, especially those with dietary restrictions.

Features of Chinatown Cafe appear to include generous portion sizes and a price point that offers good value, as both reviewers mentioned getting ample food for the cost. The consistency in portion size was also noted. The menu includes items like lo mein and beef, which were praised by one customer. However, the potential for oily food preparation and the risk of cross-contamination for vegan orders are significant negative features that potential customers should be aware of.

The provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Chinatown Cafe. Local users interested in any specials, lunch deals, or other promotions should check local delivery platforms, the restaurant's website if available, or contact them directly.

In conclusion, Chinatown Cafe in Denton, TX, seems to be a restaurant that offers large portions of food at a good price, with generally tasty dishes according to one reviewer, and consistent portion sizes according to another. They provide both dine-in and delivery services. However, there are notable concerns regarding the oiliness of the food and, more seriously, a reported incident of meat found in a tofu meal, which raises significant questions about their food preparation practices and attention to dietary restrictions. Potential local users should weigh the positive feedback about taste and quantity against the negative feedback about oiliness and the serious cross-contamination issue when considering Chinatown Cafe. Vegetarian and vegan customers, in particular, should exercise caution and perhaps inquire directly about their food preparation processes to ensure their dietary needs are strictly met.

Usually good (but very oily). Last time I ordered I discovered a piece of flesh in my tofu meal (every vegan’s nightmare is to accidentally bite into flesh). Overall, it’s a lot of food for the price, I am able to make two meals out of one entree. Pretty consistent too. 👍

As far as buffets go- in my opinion- this is one of the better ones. Food is flavorful. Good variety: soup, salad bar- fruit- fresh food cook to your order. Friendly staff & place is clean. Off of university in Denton. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

I have lived down Bonnie Bre for almost 20 years(next year). This Chinese buffet compares to no other in Denton. My parents and I started coming here in 2006 when we moved into our new house just down the street. I loved it then from the yummy hot buffet, sushi bar, hibachi flat top, and dessert bars. And I still love it to this day. Now, as a parent myself, this is one of my own children's favorite places to grab dinner. So much so that the wait staff are fully familiar with myself and our children. We often get 5-7 to-go buffet meals. Given our own boxes and soup cups, my children and I load up on our individual favorites. It's still so fresh and delicious when we return home. What can not be talked about more, however , is the comfort and familiarity of this establishment. 20+ years, this restaurant has been serving the Denton community at Bonnie Bre and Windsor. I only gave the food a 4 start rating because, occasionally, refills of buffet items can be a little slow during their peak service times, leading to unavailable or unsavory items. But please, give it a shot if you've never been. Maybe I'm a little biased, but a place in service this long in an ever growing community deserves attention from its dedicated customers.

CHINATOWN CAFE 06-19-24 We tried the all you can eat buffet. The restaurant was clean had a nice atmosphere. It was about 5:30 pm. They were filling the buffet up fuller for the dinner rush. The food was hot and fresh. They had many choices. Almost too many! I think they had something for everyone. They had Sushi, a fungus type grill where you pick your meat and veggies and they cook them for you. Many choices! The food was about average. Nothing special just good.
