About Chinatown Buffet
Welcome to Chinatown Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 14039 E Independence Blvd in Indian Trail, North Carolina (28079, USA). As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Chinatown Buffet offers a traditional buffet-style dining experience, allowing local users to sample a variety of Chinese dishes. For inquiries or information, you can contact them at their phone number: (704) 882-0318 or their mobile phone: +1 704-882-0318.
Based on the limited customer reviews available, the experiences at Chinatown Buffet appear to be quite contrasting. One reviewer described a significantly negative experience, highlighting issues with the freshness and quality of the food. According to this review, several standard Chinese buffet items, including sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, and fried rice, were "super dry." Additionally, dessert items such as powder donuts were described as "old" and "crunchy" rather than soft, and even the fried sweet potatoes were deemed unsatisfactory. The reviewer's overall disappointment was underscored by the fact that the pudding was the only item considered palatable. A concerning aspect of this review was the observation that no fresh food was brought out during the entire hour they were at the restaurant, despite many serving dishes being half empty. This strongly suggests potential issues with food turnover and maintaining freshness, leading the reviewer to advise others to avoid the establishment.
In stark contrast, another reviewer had a much more positive experience, focusing on the value and service. This customer mentioned a "great deal" of $16 for two people, implying an affordable price point for the buffet. They also praised the service as "really friendly," noting that their drinks were kept full and used dishes were promptly removed from their table. A standout item for this reviewer was the "very very good" spicy wings, which were described as being so tender that they "just fell off the bone." This positive feedback suggests that Chinatown Buffet might have some well-prepared and enjoyable dishes. However, this reviewer did note that the white rice was not steamed, resulting in a texture that was not "fluffy and soft," which might be a consideration for those who have a preference for steamed rice.
Given these opposing viewpoints, it is difficult to ascertain a consistent experience at Chinatown Buffet. The negative review paints a picture of stale food and a lack of attention to freshness, while the positive review highlights affordability and friendly service, with specific praise for the spicy wings. The discrepancy could be due to varying times of visit, different expectations, or inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations.
Information regarding the environment of Chinatown Buffet is limited. The fact that there were only three customers present during one reviewer's visit might suggest that it was a slow period, which could potentially contribute to the lack of fresh food being put out. The positive reviewer did not comment on the ambiance or cleanliness of the restaurant. Therefore, potential customers have little information about the physical setting to consider.
In terms of services, Chinatown Buffet primarily offers a buffet-style dining experience. The positive review indicates that the table service, such as drink refills and dish removal, was efficient and friendly. However, the negative review does not provide specific feedback on service beyond the lack of fresh food replenishment. It can be inferred that takeout service might also be available, as is common for many Chinese restaurants, but this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. To confirm the availability of takeout or any other specific services, contacting the restaurant directly would be necessary.
A notable feature mentioned in the reviews is the affordability highlighted by one customer ("great deal! 2 people for $16"). This suggests that Chinatown Buffet might be an attractive option for budget-conscious diners. Another potential feature is the spicy wings, which received high praise for their flavor and tenderness. However, the inconsistency in food quality, as pointed out by the negative review, could overshadow these positive aspects. The buffet format itself allows customers to try a variety of dishes, which can be appealing to some, but the experience is heavily reliant on the freshness and quality of the food offered at any given time.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any discounts, special offers, or themed nights at Chinatown Buffet would need to contact the restaurant directly at (704) 882-0318 or +1 704-882-0318. Checking local online deal websites or social media platforms, if Chinatown Buffet has a presence, might also provide information on current promotions.
In conclusion, Chinatown Buffet in Indian Trail, NC, presents a mixed picture based on the limited available reviews. While one customer found it to be a great deal with friendly service and particularly enjoyed the spicy wings, another experienced stale and unappetizing food with no fresh items being offered. The buffet format allows for variety, but the quality and freshness of the food appear to be inconsistent based on these accounts. Potential customers should consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to dine at Chinatown Buffet. If affordability and the possibility of finding well-prepared items like the spicy wings are appealing, it might be worth a visit. However, the risk of encountering stale food and a lack of fresh options, as described in the negative review, should also be taken into account. For the most up-to-date information on their offerings, quality, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Customer Reviews
We walked in and there were three total customers. First plate got sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, fried rice. All of it was super dry. Second plate was old powder donuts that were crunchy, not soft, and fried sweet potatoes. Last plate was fried sweet potatoes, mini donuts and pudding. It is a damn shame that the pudding was the best of it all. They did not put out any freshly cooked anything in the hour we were there, even though half the serving dishes were empty. Save yourself a few dollars and disappointment and DO NOT eat here
Great deal! 2 people for $16. The service was really friendly, kept a drinks full and dishes were taken off the table in a timely manner. Their spicy wings were very very good, they just fell off the bone! If I'm back in Indian trail, I'd definitely go back for those wings! (Side note the white rice is not steamed, so it's not fluffy and soft)
I got the chicken and broccoli… or so I thought. I’m not exactly sure what I ate but I won’t be risking it again. I had the takeout made fresh because the buffet looks like it had been sitting 3 to 4 hours left over from lunch. On the flip side, the staff was very nice and friendly. Just a huge unfortunate bummer in my book
Went on New Years Day. I used to bring my kids here years ago and now I know why I stopped. Thought I’d give it another try. Food was terrible, no flavor, noodles dried out, egg roll hard and cold. They brought some fresh stuff but still very blah in flavor. Waitress very nice and kept drinks full but $30 for 2 people one would expect much better. I hate writing bad reviews but when mentioning this to cashier he didn’t seem to care. Truly disappointing
Food was so yummy, absolutely love it! Service was nice too, people are kind. Toilets are little bit dirty and soda are mixed with water. No rolls are found. 3 adults spent only 45$ +tips.
