Customer feedback regarding China Wok reveals significant concerns about the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. One reviewer recounted a particularly negative encounter, beginning with a strong "burn grease smell" upon entering the restaurant that was almost overpowering. Despite this initial deterrent and having seen "good reviews" (presumably elsewhere), they decided to try the food.

This customer specifically inquired about General Tso's Bean Curd/Tofu, confirming with the staff that it was breaded and requesting it without breading, simply rolled in cornstarch and fried. They reported that their request was clearly understood and agreed upon. However, upon receiving their order, the tofu was indeed breaded, contrary to the agreement. This indicates a potential lack of attention to detail or accuracy in order preparation.

The same reviewer also ordered plain fried rice and two vegetable egg rolls. The vegetable egg rolls were described as excessively greasy, requiring six napkins to squeeze out the oil to make them somewhat edible. Furthermore, they tasted of "old frier grease," suggesting issues with oil quality or maintenance. The "fried" rice was found to contain "ZERO EGG," which the reviewer considered a fundamental component of fried rice. They also noted that the rice tasted as if it had been mixed with old fryer grease, mirroring the unpleasant taste of the tofu/bean curd.

The only positive aspect mentioned by this highly dissatisfied customer was that the dish included a "decent amount of broccoli," which was reported to be fresh. However, this single positive point was overshadowed by the numerous negative aspects, leading the reviewer to state they would "never eat here again" and to advise others who value "good, quality" food to avoid China Wok.

Another customer shared an equally negative experience, describing their takeout order as "disgusting" and expressing regret upon opening it, feeling it was a "mistake." They stated that if they could give zero stars, they would. This reviewer struggled to identify what they had attempted to eat, indicating a significant issue with the palatability of the food. They recalled a time when the food at China Wok was good, suggesting a decline in quality over time, and stated that the current food was "complete garbage," so inedible that they had to throw it away. This customer went so far as to say they had experienced better Chinese food from a grocery store and strongly advised others who enjoy Chinese cuisine to avoid China Wok, deeming it "absolutely terrible."

Based on these two recent reviews, there are serious concerns about the food quality at China Wok. Issues such as the strong smell of burnt grease, excessively greasy food, the use of old fryer grease, inaccurate order preparation, and tasteless or poorly prepared dishes have been reported. The significant drop in quality over time, as mentioned by one reviewer, is also a worrying trend for potential customers.

The environment of China Wok, as perceived by one reviewer, was marred by a potent smell of burnt grease upon entry, which is not conducive to a pleasant dining experience. No other details about the cleanliness or ambiance of the restaurant were provided. The service involved a staff member at the register who seemed to understand a specific dietary request, but the kitchen failed to execute it correctly, indicating a potential disconnect between communication and food preparation.

The services offered likely include takeout, as both reviewers obtained their food to eat elsewhere. Dine-in service is also implied as one reviewer entered the restaurant to place their order and presumably waited there. However, no specific details about the dine-in experience or the availability of delivery services were mentioned in the provided reviews.

No promotional information, such as lunch specials, discounts, or special offers, was mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Local users interested in finding out about any such promotions at China Wok should contact the restaurant directly at (336) 838-0888 or +1 336-838-0888. They would be the best source for the most current information on any deals or specials that may be available.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for China Wok in Wilkesboro, NC, paint a concerning picture regarding the quality of their Chinese food. Reports of a strong smell of burnt grease, excessively greasy dishes, the use of old fryer grease, inaccurate order fulfillment, and generally poor taste suggest significant issues. While the restaurant offers takeout and likely dine-in services, potential customers are strongly advised to consider these recent negative experiences before deciding to eat at China Wok. For any information about their menu, services, or promotions, direct contact with the restaurant is recommended, but caution based on the recent feedback is warranted.

I went in today to see if they had General Tso Bean Curd/Tofu. The burn grease smell when you walk in could just about knock you down. I almost left but given the good reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. I spoke with the gal behind the register and it was clear there was no issue with us understanding one another. I asked her if they breaded their tofu in their General Tso’s, she said yes. I asked if it would be possible to get it without the breading, just rolled in a little cornstarch and fried. She repeated it back to me, clear as day. Then she asked the man in the back and the response was yes we can. I ordered plain fried rice and two vegetable egg rolls with it. The vegetable egg rolls were so greasy I had to squeeze each one of them with 6 napkins to be edible and they still tasted like old frier grease. The tofu as you can clearly see is BREADED! The “fried” rice has ZERO EGG, the thing that makes it fried rice, hello?! I thought I might find some when I dumped some into a bowl but as you can see, no egg. It tastes as though they took some of the old frier grease and mixed it up in white rice. Same nasty taste with the tofu/bean curd. The one star I would give them is that they did provide a decent amount of broccoli and it was fresh. I will never eat here again and if you like “good, quality” food, I recommend you don’t eat here either!!!!!

You ever do something in life and think man that was a mistake! Well that was me today as I opened my takeout from this disgusting place. If I could give zero stars I would. Still can’t figure out what we just attempted to eat. We used to go here all the time and the food was good. Now the food is complete garbage. We could not even eat it had to throw it away. I’ve had better Chinese from food lion. I will not be going back to this place and I suggest if you like Chinese do not go to this one either because it is absolutely terrible.
