Based on recent customer reviews, it appears that while some aspects of China Wok might be satisfactory, there are significant concerns regarding the quality of service for dine-in customers, as well as potential issues with food preparation and the cleanliness of the establishment. One customer shared a negative experience during a dine-in visit with their mother. They reported that a particular staff member, whom they recognized from previous visits, was "so rude." Despite acknowledging that "the food is really good," this negative interaction was so impactful that they stated they would "never dine in again." The specific incident involved paying a bill of $9.81 with a $20 bill, which seemingly resulted in the staff member rolling her eyes and asking if they had a $10 bill. The reviewer indicated that this was not an isolated incident with this employee and expressed strong disapproval of such customer service, suggesting that individuals who do not wish to work with the public should not be in such roles. This negative experience led the reviewer to wish they could give a "minus star" rating.

Another customer echoed the sentiment of poor service, describing an encounter where a staff member was "very obviously annoyed that we came in an hour before closing." This annoyance reportedly manifested in a refusal to accommodate requests and rude responses to questions. This negative interaction significantly impacted the dining experience. Furthermore, this reviewer also raised concerns about the quality of the food they ordered, specifically the sweet and sour chicken, which they found to be "overcooked" with a "flavorless" sauce. This led them to conclude that they "definitely will not be back."

Beyond the issues with staff attitude and food quality, this second reviewer also noted concerns about the cleanliness of the restaurant. They mentioned that "the restaurant could have been cleaner" and provided a specific example: "The mirror was only cleaned as far as anyone could reach." This suggests a lack of thoroughness in cleaning practices. Additionally, they observed that "the plastic ware was by the door uncovered," raising potential hygiene concerns due to possible exposure to contaminants. The reviewer stated they could "go on and on" with further negative observations but felt they had already conveyed their dissatisfaction. Finally, they added a concern about the food itself, stating that "the chicken also tasted like the grease needed to be changed," which points to a potential issue with the freshness and quality of the cooking oil used.

Considering these two recent customer reviews, there are significant red flags for potential dine-in customers at China Wok in Punxsutawney, PA. While one reviewer mentioned that "the food is really good," this positive aspect was overshadowed by extremely poor and rude service that deterred them from ever dining in again. The second review corroborated the issue of rude service and also raised concerns about the quality of a specific dish (overcooked chicken with flavorless sauce) and the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant, including potentially stale cooking oil and uncovered plasticware.

It is important to note that these reviews focus primarily on the dine-in experience. There is a suggestion that the food itself might be of good quality, as mentioned by one reviewer. This could imply that customers who opt for takeout might have a more satisfactory experience, as they would avoid the negative interactions with the staff reported by the dine-in customers and would not be directly exposed to the cleanliness issues within the restaurant. However, the concern about the quality of ingredients and cooking methods (e.g., the stale grease potentially affecting the chicken) could still be relevant for takeout orders.

For local users considering China Wok, it is crucial to be aware of these recent negative experiences, particularly regarding the service and cleanliness for dine-in customers. If you are primarily interested in takeout, the reported good quality of the food might be a draw, but the potential issues with cooking practices should still be kept in mind. Due to the strong negative feedback regarding the dine-in experience and concerns about cleanliness, it would be advisable to proceed with caution and perhaps consider these factors when making your decision. There is no information provided in these reviews about any promotional offers or specific features of the restaurant beyond the food itself and the reported service and environment.

In conclusion, China Wok in Punxsutawney, PA, has received recent negative feedback concerning rude and unprofessional service for dine-in customers, as well as issues with food quality (overcooked chicken, flavorless sauce, potentially stale cooking oil) and the cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant (unclean mirrors, uncovered plasticware). While one reviewer found the food to be good, the overall sentiment from these reviews suggests a significantly negative experience for those choosing to dine at the establishment. Local users should carefully consider these points before deciding whether to visit China Wok for a dine-in meal. Takeout might be an alternative for those primarily interested in the food, but the potential concerns about ingredient and cooking quality should still be acknowledged.

My mom and I came in for a dine-in. The same girl we see was so rude. The food is really good but we will never dine in again. The bill came to $9.81 and I gave her a 20 and I guess she didn't like that so she asked if I had a 10 after rolling her eyes. This is not the first time she has been like this. This is no way to treat a customer. If you don't want to work then don't work. Or at least don't work with the public with that attitude. I would have given a minus star if I could have.

The lady was very obviously annoyed that we came in an hour before closing. She wouldn't accommodate requests and was rude in answering questions. I finally decided on Sweet and sour chicken and the chicken was overcooked and the sauce was flavorless. We definitely will not be back. The restaurant could have been cleaner. The mirror was only cleaned as far as anyone could reach. The plastic ware was by the door uncovered. I could go on and on but I'm sure you get my point. Very unsatisfied. The chicken also tasted like the grease needed to be changed.

Really poor customer service from the cashier to the point that she would roll her eyes when ever we spoke to order and last but not least she did not charged us a beverage when we emphasized to add drinks to the order; eventually getting mad at us for no reason. Here I leave a picture of who I am talking about.

Best Asian food in town! Moved away and miss it but we stop by when we're in town. It's a few years later and it's still a great place to eat. Servings are large and so good! We moved back and glad to be able to eat here again

They ignored us till we stood on the right side of the counter. Served called in orders first. My food was good but the whole order didn't come out at the same time. It was almost to the point of walking up to see if they didn't hear us. They never gave me a receipt. They definitely are trying it's just they need to understand customers are important.
