About China Wok
Welcome to China Wok, a Chinese restaurant located at 711 Thomas Langston Rd in Winterville, North Carolina (NC 28590), USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Winterville community, China Wok aims to provide a selection of Chinese culinary dishes for local residents and visitors. You can contact them at (252) 756-3311 or their mobile number +1 252-756-3311 for inquiries or to place an order.
Details regarding the specific environment of China Wok are not extensively described in the provided reviews. However, typically, Chinese restaurants offer a setting for dine-in customers. This environment can range from casual and functional to more decorated and thematic, depending on the establishment's style and focus. It is reasonable to assume that China Wok provides a standard dining area where customers can enjoy their meals on-site. Given that one review mentions a takeout order, it is also clear that China Wok offers takeout services, allowing customers to enjoy their food at their convenience elsewhere. To confirm the availability of dine-in and takeout, as well as to inquire about potential delivery options or any specific features of their dining space, contacting China Wok directly would be the most reliable way to obtain this information.
The customer feedback available for China Wok presents a somewhat mixed picture of its offerings. One reviewer described their experience as a "culinary surprise in many ways, though not all of them were pleasant." This suggests that while there were positive aspects to their meal, there were also areas that left room for improvement. Specifically, this customer noted that the prices were "slightly higher than the average for takeout." They ordered four pieces of wings for $8, finding them "crispy and well-seasoned" but feeling that the quantity was small for the price. This indicates that while some dishes at China Wok might be flavorful and well-prepared, they could also be perceived as being on the pricier side compared to other takeout options in the area.
On a more positive note, the same reviewer found the "beef lo mein" to be "quite enjoyable." They praised the noodles for being "cooked to perfection" and the beef as "tender and flavorful," complementing the dish well. This suggests that China Wok has the capability to produce well-received and tasty classic Chinese dishes like beef lo mein. This could be a significant draw for customers who appreciate this particular staple of Chinese-American cuisine.
However, another significant point of feedback in the first review concerns the service. The customer reported that despite the restaurant not being overly busy, their order took an "unexpectedly long time to arrive." This delay in service led to a waning of anticipation and suggests that the efficiency of order fulfillment might be an area where China Wok could improve. Slow service, even when the restaurant is not crowded, can negatively impact the overall customer experience, regardless of the quality of the food itself.
Adding to the mixed feedback, a very brief second review stated that the "boneless spare rib tips" were the "worst/ driest" the customer had ever had. This strongly negative comment about a specific dish raises concerns about the consistency and quality of all items on the menu. If the boneless spare ribs were indeed very dry and of poor quality, it could deter potential customers from trying this or other similar dishes at China Wok. This feedback contrasts with the positive remarks about the beef lo mein and the well-seasoned wings, further highlighting potential inconsistencies in their food preparation.
Given these varied reviews, it is important for local users to consider both the positive and negative feedback when deciding whether to patronize China Wok. The fact that some dishes, like the beef lo mein and wings (in terms of flavor and crispiness), have been praised suggests that the kitchen has the ability to produce quality food. However, the higher prices for some items and the reported issues with slow service and dry spare ribs are also important factors to keep in mind.
To make a more informed decision, local residents might want to inquire about the pricing of various dishes and the typical wait times for orders when contacting China Wok. If they decide to try the restaurant, perhaps starting with a dish that has received positive feedback, like the beef lo mein, might be a good approach. Additionally, it would be wise to check the order upon pickup to ensure accuracy and to assess the quality of all items purchased.
The provided information does not include any details about specific features of China Wok, such as unique dishes, culinary specialties, or a particular style of Chinese cuisine that they emphasize. To learn more about their menu and what might differentiate them from other Chinese restaurants in the area, it would be necessary to consult their menu directly or ask when contacting them. Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional offers or discounts. Many restaurants, especially local establishments, often have lunch specials, combination meals, or other deals to attract customers. Inquiring about any current promotions when calling or visiting China Wok could potentially provide added value to your dining experience.
In conclusion, China Wok in Winterville, NC, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that offers a mix of experiences for its customers. While some dishes, like the beef lo mein and wings, have been noted for their quality and flavor, prices for some items might be higher than average, and service can be slow. Additionally, at least one customer reported a very negative experience with the boneless spare rib tips. Local users should weigh these points and consider their own priorities when deciding whether to try China Wok. Contacting the restaurant directly for more information about their menu, pricing, services (dine-in, takeout, delivery if available), and any current promotions would be a helpful step in making an informed choice.

Customer Reviews
China Wok on Langston Road in Winterville, NC, was a culinary surprise in many ways, though not all of them were pleasant. I ventured in, craving a comforting plate of Chinese cuisine, only to find prices slightly higher than the average for takeout. I ordered a modest serving of wings—just four pieces for a surprising $8. Although the wings were crispy and well-seasoned, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a tad steep for the quantity provided. On a more positive note, the beef lo mein was quite enjoyable; the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the beef was tender and flavorful, complementing the dish beautifully. However, what really caught me off guard was the service. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, my order took an unexpectedly long time to arrive. As I waited, my anticipation began to wane, overshadowed by the clock ticking away. In retrospect, China Wok offers a mix of quality dishes and somewhat inflated prices, paired with a service time that could use some fine-tuning. While I left satisfied with my meal, I couldn't help but hope for a quicker turnaround on my next visit. Overall, it was a surprising experience, leaving me both satisfied and perplexed.
The worst/ driest boneless spare rib tips I have ever had. This was my first time trying them and probably the last.
My boyfriend and I come to Greenville each year for his job. We always order Chinese from China Wok frequently while here. Food, service and delivery are always outstanding!
What a good surprise! I was expecting a fairly standard, hole-in-the-wall Chinese meal, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. As it’s Christmas Day, very few places were open so I joined the tradition of ordering Chinese takeout. China Wok had good reviews and was less than a mile from my hotel. I ordered the Hot and Sour Soup and the General Tso’s Chicken meal, which included fried rice and egg roll. The total was a decent $17, but there was a lot of food. A very generic order for someone just looking for familiar, standard Chinese fare. The soup could have been more on the sour side, but it was flavorful, rich and full of ingredients. The best part was actually the freshly fried and crunchy wontons that added texture and contrast to the soup. The vast majority of places give you stale, old and far-from-crunchy wontons, but not here. The wontons were light and very crunchy, again not the ordinary stuff. Next the eggroll was another pleasant surprise! It tasted freshly made and full of the filling. Often, there’s so little filling all you get is a fried, greasy wrapper. The eggroll at China Wok was very flavorful, fried just right and not oily at all. Finally, the entree was very good. The fried rice could have been better and hotter. It was clearly a batch that was set aside and barely reheated. But the chicken itself was quite good. The General Tso’s chicken still had a crunchy outside despite having a good amount of sauce. The sauce was about little too sweet and not as spicy as it should be, but it is definitely an above average quality. The atmosphere and appearance was fairly standard for a Chinese restaurant. But the service was great. The person taking orders was clear and efficient and the staff, whom you can observe from the main room, were working extremely hard to prep and cook and push out orders as quickly as possible. I would recommend China Wok. I plan to stop by again the next time I’m visiting Greenville.
