About China Wok

China Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 7087 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Mechanicsville, Virginia (VA 23111), USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Wok can be contacted at phone number (804) 730-8678 or mobile phone +1 804-730-8678 for inquiries or to place orders.

Based on the limited information available, consisting of two contrasting customer reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive description of the restaurant's environment. One review paints a negative picture, stating that "by the time I got my food to leave the kitchen was dirty." This suggests a lack of cleanliness in the food preparation area, which is a significant concern for any dining establishment. The other review offers a glowing commendation, referring to a specific individual as an "Amazing Special Chinese Angel Cook" and praising the food as "Amazing." This stark contrast makes it difficult to form an objective assessment of the restaurant's overall environment and hygiene standards. Potential customers should be aware of the conflicting reports.

Regarding the services offered by China Wok, the provided information does not explicitly detail whether they offer dine-in, takeout, or delivery options. Given that it is a physical restaurant with contact phone numbers, it can be reasonably inferred that takeout service is likely available, as one negative review describes taking food away from the premises. The availability of dine-in service is also probable, as most restaurants have a physical space for customers to eat on-site. However, the negative review mentioning a dirty kitchen might deter some customers from choosing to dine in. Information about delivery services is not provided, and interested customers would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option.

The two available customer reviews offer drastically different perspectives on the food quality and accuracy of orders at China Wok. One reviewer had an extremely negative experience, stating that the food was "absolutely disgusting." This customer reported receiving an order that significantly deviated from what was requested, including a large pepper steak and onions that turned out to be mostly onions and peppers, "shrimp 'lo mein'" instead of lobster lo mein (described as regular noodles with shrimp), and a terrible experience with vegetables, white rice, and sauce. This reviewer felt the meal was not worth the $35.87 paid, considered it a "scam," and reported feeling sick after eating the food, indicating serious concerns about food quality and preparation. The other review, in stark contrast, uses highly positive language, describing the food as "Amazing" and praising the culinary skills of a specific individual. This significant discrepancy in feedback makes it difficult to ascertain the typical quality and consistency of the food served at China Wok.

Given the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is not possible to reliably identify any specific features or signature dishes of China Wok. One reviewer's negative experience highlighted issues with the preparation and accuracy of several dishes, while the other reviewer offered general praise without specifying particular menu items beyond the overall quality. The mention of pepper steak and onions, lobster lo mein (which was allegedly substituted with shrimp lo mein), and vegetables with white rice and sauce comes from a negative context. Therefore, it is not advisable to consider these as recommended features based solely on the current information.

Regarding promotional information, there is no data provided about any ongoing specials, discounts, or promotions offered by China Wok. Typically, restaurants might advertise lunch specials, family deals, or seasonal offers to attract customers. However, in light of the strongly contrasting reviews regarding food quality and hygiene, any potential promotions would need to be considered with caution. Local users interested in any promotions or special offers from China Wok would need to contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, the available information regarding China Wok in Mechanicsville, VA, is limited to two highly divergent customer reviews. One review expresses extreme dissatisfaction with the food quality, order accuracy, and cleanliness of the kitchen, leading to a report to the local health department. The other review offers effusive praise for the food and a specific cook. This stark contrast provides an unclear and potentially unreliable picture of the typical experience at China Wok. Potential customers should be aware of these conflicting reports and may want to seek more recent or a greater number of reviews to form a more informed opinion before deciding to dine at or order from this establishment. Contacting the restaurant directly for information about their menu, services, and any potential promotions is recommended, but doing so with an awareness of the concerns raised in one of the reviews.

Food was absolutely disgusting! I asked for a large pepper steak and onions but received a bowl full of onions and peppers. I asked for lobster lo mein but received shrimp “lo mein” it was a regular pack of noodles with shrimp. And I asked for the vegetables with white rice and sauce and even that was terrible. It’s my fault for having such high expectations especially when I paid $35.87. I would never come back to this place definitely a scam and I will be disputing my order. Not only that the food made me sick. I noticed by the time I got my food to leave the kitchen was dirty. I didn’t think nothing of it but now I regret it and will be calling the local health department.

I like this place but do not go just before closing, the egg rolls were overcooked and the flavor was lacking in my other dishes. Normally, it's pretty good, especially the General Tso's Shrimp and the Singapore Noodles. Update, I have tried a couple of times thinking I just came on a bad day, but do not order the Shrimp Toast. It has consistently been burnt, oily and not fresh! I had to throw then away each time.

The inside was filthy, trash next to the door overflowing. When I ordered they said thirty minutes. When I showed up after 25 min they hadn’t even started making my food. I felt too nervous to eat after I saw how it was prepared. I do not recommend.
