About China Wok
China Wok is a Chinese restaurant situated at 3839 E Tremont Ave in the Bronx, New York City. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, it aims to provide a variety of Chinese dishes for the community, likely offering services such as takeout and possibly delivery. Based on recent online customer reviews, China Wok presents a somewhat mixed experience, with notable strengths in its food quality but potential drawbacks in its environment and customer service.
One customer review expresses high praise for the food at China Wok, going as far as to say it is "amazing" and offering "serious compliments to the chef." This positive feedback suggests that the culinary aspect of China Wok is a significant draw for some patrons. The reviewer specifically highlighted the crab rangoons as being exceptionally good, describing them as "out of this world." This indicates that certain specialty items on the menu may be particularly noteworthy and well-received by customers.
However, this same reviewer also reported a significant hygiene issue during their meal. While enjoying the General Tso's chicken, they discovered a hair on a piece of broccoli. This is a serious concern that can understandably lead to disgust and disappointment for any diner. Despite this unpleasant discovery, the reviewer surprisingly mentioned their intention to remain a loyal customer and continue recommending China Wok to others, citing the understanding that "we all make mistakes." Nonetheless, they emphasized that finding a hair in a customer's food is "unacceptable," highlighting a critical area where China Wok needs to ensure better food safety and hygiene practices.
Another customer review offers a different perspective, focusing on the overall experience beyond just the food quality. This reviewer stated that while the food is "above average," the atmosphere of the restaurant is "chaotic," and the customer service is "disappointing." This suggests that the dining environment at China Wok may not be conducive to a relaxed or pleasant experience. The reviewer further elaborated on the customer service, noting that despite the restaurant's apparent popularity, the staff seems inattentive and tends to serve customers seemingly at random, ignoring others. This lack of organized and attentive service can lead to frustration and a negative perception of the overall value proposition of dining at China Wok.
Considering these two recent reviews, China Wok appears to have a reputation for producing tasty food, with specific items like the crab rangoons receiving high praise. This could be a significant feature that attracts and retains customers. The mention of General Tso's chicken also indicates that they offer popular and familiar Chinese dishes. However, the positive aspects of the food are overshadowed by concerns regarding hygiene in the preparation or serving process, as evidenced by the discovery of hair in a dish. Additionally, the reported chaotic atmosphere and disappointing customer service suggest potential shortcomings in the overall dining experience at the physical location, if that service is utilized.
The reviews do not provide any information about services such as delivery or takeout, although it can be reasonably inferred that as a Chinese restaurant, China Wok likely offers these options. The positive comment about the food quality would be relevant for both dine-in and takeout customers. However, the negative feedback about the atmosphere and customer service would primarily affect those dining at the restaurant itself.
There is no mention of any specific promotional information, discounts, or special offers in the provided reviews. Therefore, no details can be given regarding any such features that China Wok might currently have in place to attract customers.
In conclusion, China Wok at 3839 E Tremont Ave in the Bronx seems to be a Chinese restaurant that garners positive feedback for the quality of its food, with the crab rangoons being a standout item. However, potential customers should be aware of reported issues concerning hygiene, specifically the finding of a hair in a dish. Additionally, some customers have found the atmosphere to be chaotic and the customer service to be disappointing, characterized by inattentiveness and seemingly random service. While the food quality appears to be a significant strength, these other factors may detract from the overall experience, particularly for those choosing to dine in. Without further information, it is difficult to assess the full range of services and features offered by China Wok, and no information is available regarding any current promotions.
Local users considering China Wok should weigh the positive comments about the food against the reported negative experiences with hygiene, atmosphere, and customer service based on these recent reviews. It may be prudent to consider whether the praised food quality outweighs the potential drawbacks in other areas, or if alternative Chinese restaurants in the Bronx might offer a more consistently positive dining experience.

Food is amazing, serious complements to the chef! The crab rangoons are out of this world. However, I was enjoying my meal of general Taos when I discovered a hair on a piece of broccoli. Although I am disgusted and thoroughly disappointed by this, I will continue being a loyal customer to this establishment.I also will keep recommending this place to other people. We all make mistakes and I understand that, but a hair in a customers food is unacceptable.
The food here is above average, but the atmosphere is chaotic, and the customer service is disappointing. Despite their popularity, the staff seems to lack attention and often serves whoever they want, ignoring others. Not worth the hype for the experience.
Consistently great Chinese take-out… but be sure to pick up. You can’t expect the same quality by the time it gets to your door after so many stops.
I ordered online through Uber eats. The customer service wasn’t the best but the food was definitely tasty. Much better than most Chinese restaurants in the area. 100% recommend the steamed dumplings.
Order food for delivery. They said 30-65 minutes. Mine you it's only a 5 min bike/car ride from our home. Why it took 90 mins for delivery. Food arrived almost cold. I was not satisfied at all with the food because of the lateness and not being fresh.
