About China Wok

China Wok, situated at 1102 E Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock, serves as a local Chinese Restaurant offering a variety of dishes to its patrons. With contact numbers (512) 310-1191 and +1 512-310-1191, China Wok provides an accessible option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the Round Rock area, offering both dine-in and takeout services.

However, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the current state of China Wok. One former regular customer, reminiscing about past positive experiences, expressed significant disappointment with a recent dinner visit. They noted a shift in service, where food was served in takeout bags even for dine-in customers. The quality of the food was also criticized, with the fried shrimp being described as soggy and an overall excessive saltiness in the dishes. Furthermore, this reviewer felt that the service prioritized delivery services like DoorDash over in-house diners. Despite being the only customers in the dining room, they reported a lack of attention from the staff, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. The reviewer concluded by expressing hope for improvement, indicating that they would not return otherwise.

Another customer shared a particularly negative experience specifically concerning the shrimp egg rolls. They described a "slimy filling" with a single shrimp that had an unpleasant taste, leading them to spit the food out. This reviewer also mentioned a previous negative experience with flavorless fried chicken and store-bought tasting regular egg rolls. Despite the proximity of the restaurant to their home, this customer stated emphatically that they would never eat there again, even preferring to drive a significant distance to find an alternative. Their strong reaction and concern about potential illness underscore the severity of their negative experience. The only somewhat positive note from this review was that the sweet and sour chicken was deemed "okay," but this was overshadowed by the overwhelmingly negative feedback on other items.

Based on these two recent reviews, it is difficult to provide a positive description of the current environment and services at China Wok. The first review suggests a potentially unwelcoming atmosphere for dine-in customers, with a focus seemingly shifted towards delivery services. The feeling of the establishment being "grimey" further detracts from any potential positive aspects of the environment. The lack of staff interaction with dine-in customers indicates a significant lapse in customer service.

The services offered by China Wok appear to include both dine-in and takeout, as indicated by the reviews. However, the quality of the dine-in experience is called into question by the first reviewer's account of being served food in takeout bags and the lack of attention from the staff. The prioritization of delivery services over in-house customers suggests a potential imbalance in service focus. The availability of standard Chinese dishes like fried shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, and egg rolls is implied by the reviews, but the quality and preparation of these items seem to be inconsistent and, in some cases, severely lacking.

Features that might have been positive in the past, as suggested by the first reviewer's nostalgic sentiment, are seemingly no longer reliable. The current features, based on the negative feedback, include potentially subpar food quality (soggy shrimp, excessively salty dishes, slimy egg roll filling, flavorless chicken) and poor customer service, particularly for dine-in patrons. The apparent prioritization of delivery services at the expense of in-house diners could be considered a feature of their current operational model, albeit one that is negatively impacting the dine-in experience.

Promotional information is not mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Given the strong negative feedback regarding food quality and service, it is unlikely that any current promotions would outweigh these concerns for potential customers. Individuals interested in any potential specials or discounts would need to contact China Wok directly at the provided phone numbers, but it would be prudent to consider the recent customer experiences before making a decision to dine there.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for China Wok at 1102 E Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock paint a concerning picture. Issues with food quality, such as soggy shrimp, excessive saltiness, and a disturbingly described shrimp egg roll, are significant red flags. Additionally, the reported poor customer service, particularly for dine-in customers who felt neglected in favor of delivery services, further detracts from the overall experience. The negative sentiments expressed, including a former loyal customer's disappointment and another's strong vow never to return, suggest that China Wok is currently facing significant challenges in maintaining food quality and customer service standards. Local users are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences before choosing to dine at China Wok.

For those in the Round Rock area seeking a Chinese restaurant, it would be wise to weigh the severe criticisms found in these recent reviews against any potential convenience of China Wok's location. The descriptions of poor food quality and unwelcoming service for dine-in customers should give potential patrons pause. While every restaurant can have an off day, the consistency and severity of the issues raised in these reviews suggest more systemic problems. It might be beneficial to explore other Chinese restaurant options in the Round Rock area that have received more positive and recent feedback regarding both their food and service quality.

We used to love it here. Wanted to reminisce some old times and went there for dinner. Ugh. We were eating in but the food came in a bag. The fried shrimp were soggy, everything tasted extra salty. The service seemed to cater to door dash instead of actual customers. We were the only ones sitting in the dining room and not once did anyone approach to ask about our meal. It felt grimey and we felt like we were interrupting and inconveniencing the staff by dining in. I hope they get their act together or we won’t be returning. Covid is over bring back good customer service, please.

Don't eat none of their shrimp egg rolls, I spit food out maybe 2 in my life this was the 3rd. It had some type of slimy filling with 1 shrimp with a weird taste that I could get out of my mouth. I still taste the slim. OMG, and the previous time the fried chicken was flavorless. Egg rolls taste store brought with no flavor. I gave it another chance because it was close to my house. I will Never ate there again. I will drive 100 miles before I eat here again. Hope I don't get sick. The sweet and sour chicken was okay. Don't do it

I ate the fried rice with chicken, egg rolls and extra brown sauce which is what I always get and got very sick shortly after. Went to the ER and was told I had food poisoning. Called China Wok to let them know and the rep that answered the phone was very rude saying, " not sure what you want us to do" no consideration at all, no I hope you feel better just nothing. I will never eat here again. I advise anyone else to not eat here because they obviously have some going on. Maybe the chicken was old or not cooked well not sure but I got food poison from China Wok. My first meal for today had not eaten anything else.

Update 08/24/2023 picked up food, Kung Pao Chicken was ok, but there was very little chicken in it, and too many carrots and bell peppers. It looks like I ordered Kung Pao Bell peppers. What really disappointed me were the veggie eggrolls. You used to get 4 thin, light and crispy eggrolls in an order. Now you only get two regular spring rolls, not light or crispy. I'd rather pay more and have the original veggie eggrolls back. Food at China Wok is always good. You get a good amount, and it has a lot of flavor. I've been picking up food from there and also ordered delivery for years. Great food. The food has improved, just tell them what you want and don't want in your entrees.
