China Wok operates as a Chinese restaurant, which typically includes establishments that specialize in preparing and serving food originating from China. These restaurants often offer a diverse menu that can include various regional styles and popular American Chinese adaptations, catering to the preferences of their local customer base. Based on customer reviews, China Wok offers a quick service for some, while others have experienced issues with food temperature and preparation, as well as customer service.
To provide a comprehensive introduction to China Wok, it's important to consider the recent feedback shared by its customers through online reviews. These reviews offer valuable insights into the dining experience, including the speed of service, food quality, preparation, and the attitude of the staff.
One customer had a very positive experience, stating that the "Place was great!" They were surprised by the low ratings they observed for the restaurant. Their order was completed in less than 10 minutes and they found the taste to be "amazing," suggesting efficiency and satisfaction with the food quality on their visit.
In contrast, another customer reported a significantly negative experience. They ordered the house special fried rice along with chicken wings. While the wings were hot, they found the rice to be cold. Furthermore, they noted a concerning issue with the preparation of the shrimp in the fried rice, stating that it was "improperly cleaned." Despite these issues with the food, this customer was initially willing to overlook them. However, what prompted them to write a review was the "very poor customer service" they experienced. Upon entering the restaurant, they felt ignored by a staff member who reportedly looked at them without speaking. When their order was brought to the counter, it was allegedly "slammed" down without a word, and the staff member then returned to sit down. The customer, who was visiting from out of town, expressed that this treatment was unacceptable and seemed discriminatory. This negative interaction with the customer service overshadowed any potential positives of the food, even if the initial issues were to be overlooked.
Considering these two reviews, we see a stark contrast in customer experiences at China Wok. One customer was highly satisfied with the speed and quality of their order, while the other experienced issues with food temperature and preparation, compounded by what they perceived as rude and unwelcoming customer service.
Based on the limited information in these reviews, specific details about the environment of China Wok are not provided. However, the mention of a customer coming in to pick up their order suggests that it is a physical establishment with a counter for order processing. The quick service reported by one customer might indicate a fast-paced environment geared towards efficient takeout service. The negative interaction with the staff member did not provide any details about the ambiance or cleanliness of the restaurant itself.
The services offered by China Wok likely include takeout, as indicated by the customer who picked up their order. The quick order completion time reported by one reviewer suggests an efficient system for preparing and packaging food for takeaway. It is not explicitly mentioned whether they offer dine-in or delivery services, so local users would need to inquire directly about these options. The negative review highlighted a significant issue with the in-person customer service during order pickup.
Features of China Wok include a menu with standard American Chinese fare, such as fried rice (including a "house special" version) and chicken wings. The positive review suggests that some dishes can be "amazing" in taste and prepared quickly. However, the negative review points to potential inconsistencies in food preparation, specifically regarding the temperature of the rice and the cleaning of shrimp. The poor customer service experienced by one reviewer is also a notable, albeit negative, feature of their interaction with the restaurant.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. Local Chinese restaurants often utilize various methods to attract and retain customers, such as lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts on certain dishes. To learn about any current promotions at China Wok, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly or check for any local advertisements or online presence they might have.
For local users in New Bern, NC, considering China Wok, the available reviews present a dilemma. The positive feedback on speed and taste from one customer is encouraging, especially given their surprise at the restaurant's low ratings. This suggests that some customers can have a very satisfactory experience. However, the negative review highlights significant concerns about food quality (cold rice, improperly cleaned shrimp) and, more importantly, very poor customer service during a pickup. The stark contrast between these two recent experiences indicates a potential inconsistency in both food preparation and service standards at China Wok.
Potential customers will need to weigh these contrasting reports. If speed and potentially good taste are priorities, and you are willing to risk inconsistencies in food preparation and service, China Wok might be an option. However, the negative experience with customer service, especially the feeling of being treated poorly as an out-of-town visitor, is a serious concern that could deter many potential patrons.
To make a more informed decision, local residents might want to look for additional reviews on other online platforms to see if a more consistent picture of the food quality and service at China Wok emerges. Calling the restaurant directly to inquire about their food preparation practices and customer service approach might also be something to consider.
In conclusion, China Wok in New Bern, NC, has received both high praise for quick service and tasty food from one customer, and strong criticism for cold food, improperly prepared ingredients, and very poor customer service from another. This significant disparity in recent experiences suggests potential inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations. Local users should consider these contrasting points carefully when deciding whether to patronize China Wok.

Customer Reviews
Place was great! I dont know why it's got low ratings. My order was done in less then 10mins and tasted amazing.
I ordered the house special fried rice with the order of chicken wings. The wings was hot but the rice was cold not only was the rice cold but the all the shrimp was improperly cleaned... Nevertheless I was willing to overlook it but what made me write a review was the very poor customer service when I came in he looked at me dead in my eyes and didn't speak and then when he brought my order to me he slammed it on the counter and went to sit back down I don't know what type of people he is used to coming in but I'm from out of town I'm not from here and to treat people like that it's unacceptable.
Fairly good food. Only had it once, so I'll reserve the 5 star upgrade until after I tried a few more things. Service was fast. (Way less than the 10 minutes she told me) Food was cooked to order. And the price was great. Maybe be the least expensive option in the area. I'll be going back.
The food was amazing. They made my General Tso not spicy just for me
Very terrible service over the phone. Spoke with a lady who told me they were too busy to cook certain items yet no where on the menu was that mentioned.
